Prologue

Tricia's POV

2months earlier

Walking home from school was nothing that I was a stranger to. I always walk to and from school and work because both of them was only a 10-15 minute walk from my house. Little did I know what would be awaiting me at home.

The second I walked through the door I knew something was definitely wrong. The house was silent as night. My mother wasn’t in the kitchen where she normally is getting ready to start dinner and my father wasn’t playing the piano as per usual.

As I make my way through the house I notice that everything is in place, but the further I walk up the stairs the more my stomach turns and my wolf, Stacy, is begging me to go back because she is just as anxious as I am. I notice that the air has a different smell to it. I can smell nothing but blood, the blood of both my parents and a wolf that I have never smelt before, so I know this wolf is a rouge, considering the smell of woods and death that is the one scent.

A horrifying scream rips its way out of my chest. The beta runs through the house shouting something but I’m not sure what it is because I allow the blackness to take hold of me.

Present

It’s been two months since that horrible day and I still have nightmares of what happened that day. Everyone assumes that the rouge body that was with my parents was the one that murdered them. Since then however, I have taken over the pack seeing as I was their only living heir to the Alpha title. I know that one day I will need to make a choice between passing the title to my Beta or merging my pack with my mates pack.

Every surrounding and allied pack was very supportive and helped me adjust as much as they could. Alpha Parker, Alpha of the Shadow Worrier Pack, even stayed a whole week with me before his Luna called him home. Now that everything is taken care of I have to address the pack and make them aware that I will be returning to school to finish my senior year. Oh how I’m just so over joyed to be back in school with all the snobby, preppy, popular kids. (Note the sarcasm)

I looked to my fathers Beta and asked him to call a meeting with all of the pack members who are older than 15 to let them know what is going on. To ensure that they know, that even though we are all grieving right now I have the packs best interest in mind with all decisions that I will be making. My father’s Beta will watch over the pack while I am at school and we will have the ceremonies for my Beta and third in command to come into power so we can lead this pack to the best of our ability.
