CHAPTER FIVE

JANE's POV

"You are just stubborn. I feel like there's something fishy and incomplete about this whole thing. At least tell him about his son!" I coaxed my friend again, trying for the hundredth and more times.

This time she didn't bother to respond to me. Instead, she focused on the sandwich she was making for us in her small kitchen. It was just the two of us at home. Little and cute Jason wasn't back from school, same with Agatha.

"Take your sandwich and eat it in peace. Don't piss me off this morning. You know about all I went through in that golden mansion. How his sister tortured us. That man raped me, Jane! Do you hate me that much?"

I rolled my eyes and bit out a big chunk

from my sandwich. I knew she would turn the whole thing on me, but yet I wouldn't stop telling her the truth. Craig can be a hard and unbending man, but he would never abandon his son or leave her to suffer.

I still feel he should know about his son, but Kimberly would never agree to it. Her biggest fear that he would take their three-year-old son from her forever being the main reason and motivation.

"If it wasn't for the help from you and your parents... when I left his house that day, I knew he would come after me... Janeeeeeee!... It was the same you that found a secret place and hid us till now! I've suffered enough please," she lashed out at me, throwing more sandwiches onto her plate with her outrage.

I kept my mouth closed as I didn't want her to smack me with her sandwich. We stayed silent after that, instead, I allowed my thoughts to wander to how she had survived the past four years. It wasn't long after she left Craig that she found out she was carrying his baby.

My friend was happy and elated. She alerted me to keep it a secret and swore to have her child by herself, and she sure did. And not only that, she completed her college education, found a job as a supermarket attendant, and also took care of Agatha's education.

A true definition of a "strong woman". She didn't ask for help so I had to force her to take some from me. Agatha can work now and she does that to support her sister. She was also in her final year in college. Everything looked peaceful and hopeful for them. I couldn't be happier.

Yet, their elder brother didn't for once try to

reach out to them. Craig whom she hated so much was still out there, searching seriously for her up till this moment. What type of brother was Keith? "He's just an animal," my mind gave me the answer at once.

Now the only problem I have was Kimberly's new boyfriend. They met two years ago and I was disturbed that he wasn't concerned at all that she was still married to Craig or the fact that her husband was still searching for her or about her son, Jason whom she hid from Craig.

Kimberly told Nicholas; her new boyfriend the truth from the onset and yet he was still proposing marriage. I didn't like the guy at all. He was always obsessing over my best friend and acting strange, but in time I had to adjust, all because my best friend cared strongly about my acceptance towards him. At he provided her happiness like she always did tell me.

"It's okay. Stop fuming and eat your food, I won't bring Craig up again. Let me make you some cold milk." I apologized, playing with her chin like I used to whenever she was pissed at me. She had been frowning since I mentioned her husband, but she finally smiled at me after more trials and agreed to me making the cold milk.

KIMBERLEY's POV

I was running so fast that I didn't realize I wasn't wearing my flat shoes properly. The school owner had just informed me about the whereabouts of my son and I felt like I couldn't feel my body anymore. My breath caught up in my throat.

Immediately the cab dropped me in front of the same mansion I swore never to return to, I took to my heels and rushed to the gate. The security team opened the gigantic gates for me like they were expecting me.

The car that would take me into the main mansion was also there waiting. Of course, Craig had our son, and he knew I would come without any delay. The car took me into the estate and I barged into the main building.

My eyes fell on Cheryl first, seated cross-legged in the main parlor and then Craig. He was pacing frantically, and then stopped instantly when he saw me.

"Welcome back runaway bride. Now will you do me the honors by explaining why you left without my approval? Hid your pregnancy from me and had our baby alone without my knowledge?" He yelled at me, throwing the question all at once.

I fidgeted and moved away from him. Right now, he looked more like a roaring lion who was about to catch its prey. Moving toward me with guided steps, I knew he was waiting for the right time to grab me.

"My son... where is he? You took him from the school. How did you find out about him? Where's Jason!" I cried out, adding some sympathy to my voice.

He scoffed and replied at once. "He's fine and with his Nanny, well taken care of. He called me daddy after I introduced myself... you kept my son away woman! You shouldn't have done that! Where have you been these past years... I searched for you everywhere!"

I looked at Cheryl and then back at my so-called husband, the shock was evident on my face. He confessed to having been searching for us when the same woman who chased us out was sitting and listening the whole time.

"What do you want from us?... you have your fiancé here, please let us go, I'm getting married to Nicholas.. you don't know him, he's my boyfriend..."

I stopped mid-sentence when I felt his hand on my soft neck. He held me tightly and pushed me to the wall, his eyes sternly on my face. He moved his mouth closer to mine like he wanted to kiss me, "You dare not! You are married to me... married legally Kim! I warned you, didn't I?"

"I know your little boyfriend. I've been following you for a month now. You are staying here with my son! I won't divorce you and you will suffer for what you did!" He barked at me, his eyes firing hot shots at me, he released me at once and walked out of the house.

I gasped for breath, flapping my hand for composure, still, I fell into the chair. Cheryl sat still and kept pouting at me. I knew Craig all too well. I wouldn't be able to leave the mansion until he said so. For my sons' sake, I would have to stay here and fight for my freedom again.

Reaching for my phone, I dialed my sister's number, asking her to bring our luggages and join me in the mansion. She was surprised that we'd been found out.

"It has happened again... he got me in his clutches, Agatha. He found out about Jason and took him from school...there's nothing I can do... just pack and come quick," I informed her.

All the whole time, Cheryl was glaring at me without saying a word. Of course, she would still come for me, but this time I would scratch her badly because I have two things to protect now; my son and my little sister.

I wouldn't back down without a fight.
