Chapter 1 Full of Regret
Juniper Beaumont's head was all fuzzy, and for a second, she thought she was dreaming.
She was lying on the bed, being kissed by a guy, her legs spread open.
Magnus Blackwood pushed up her shirt, lowered his head, and took her nipple into his mouth.
A wave of pleasure hit her, and Juniper arched her body, pushing her chest forward a bit more without even thinking.
Magnus's big hand gripped her waist, causing her some pain. His distinct fingers pressed against her, trying to push forward.
His two fingers moved in and out of her wet pussy, then he thrust his long, hard dick inside.
Juniper was fucked to the point of exhaustion, unable to resist.
She suddenly felt that the person in front of her wasn't the Magnus she knew; he would never treat her like this.
The true Magnus had already been left behind by her, abandoned in the year they loved each other the most.
That year, she sent Magnus to prison as a witness.
On June 6th, her half-brother Dashiell Beaumont killed someone in a hit-and-run while driving drunk. The surveillance cameras only caught the car, not the driver.
So her dad, Alexander Beaumont, to make sure his son could inherit his connections and position in the future, decided to make Magnus take the blame.
When Magnus was taken away, he was completely confused and refused to admit anything during the interrogation.
Alexander didn't want to waste time on this, so he decided to use Juniper.
At first, when Alexander told Juniper about it, she refused. She didn't want to cover up for a murderer, let alone her half-brother.
Isolde Whitaker, who managed to marry into the Beaumont family, had pushed Juniper's mom, Lyra Callahan, down the stairs, turning her into a vegetative state reliant on machines.
"Think carefully about the consequences. Do you want Magnus or your mother?" Isolde barged into Lyra's ward, using Lyra's life to threaten Juniper.
Looking at her mom on the bed, Juniper finally gave in, "I'll go! I'll be the witness, just don't hurt my mom."
That night, Juniper cried for a long time beside Lyra.
She thought, 'Magnus should be able to understand my decision, right?'
In court, the judge asked, "Witness Juniper, are you sure you really saw Magnus driving the car that hit the victim?"
The judge's cold voice echoed in Juniper's ears as she looked at Magnus standing there.
In just two days, the once-spirited Magnus had dark circles under his eyes and looked exhausted.
For a moment, Juniper wanted to follow her heart, but seeing her dad sitting not far away, she gave up. She had to protect her mom.
"I'm sure." The words seemed to struggle to escape Juniper's lips.
Hearing that, Magnus looked at Juniper in disbelief, while Juniper quickly lowered her head, afraid to meet his gaze. She apologized inwardly, 'I'm sorry, Magnus.'
Even if she didn't do this today, Alexander would find every way to make Magnus confess. This was the best outcome she could think of for everyone.
The judge asked Magnus, "Defendant Magnus, do you have anything to say in your defense?"
Seeing Juniper lower her head, Magnus knew this was what Juniper wanted. Since she wanted him to be the murderer, he would fulfill her wish.
Magnus replied calmly, "I plead guilty."
When Juniper heard this, her heart tightened. She looked up at Magnus, meeting his disappointed gaze.
After the trial, Juniper wanted to talk to Magnus, but he turned and left.
Before he was locked up, Juniper managed to see Magnus. "Magnus, listen to me. I did this for you and my mom. If I didn't..."
But before Juniper could finish, Magnus cut her off, "Juniper, what's the point of explaining now? Isn't this what you wanted?" His tone was cold, his eyes no longer holding the warmth they once did.
Juniper still tried to explain, "Magnus, please, I have my reasons. Just hear me out..."
"Cut it out. From now on, you're the mayor's daughter of X City, and I'm just a despised prisoner. We have nothing to do with each other." After saying this, Magnus turned and left, ignoring Juniper's cries.
After leaving the prison, Juniper went to their home alone.
Since Magnus was imprisoned, nothing in the house had been touched.
The photos they took together, the portraits Juniper drew of Magnus, were still perfectly in place.
They had promised never to leave each other not long ago. But now, Magnus would never come back.
Looking at the photos of the two of them, Juniper cried uncontrollably.
Maybe it was because of the exhaustion of the past two days, or maybe it was because she was too emotional, Juniper suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. Looking down, she saw blood flowing down her skirt.
Six years later in the Imperial Capital.
Juniper walked out of the TV station with her belongings. She had been fired without any reason.
Juniper muttered, "The weather is so good today, but it's really annoying."
She casually threw the box aside and sat on a bench by the roadside, watching people come and go.
The screen on the TV station building started broadcasting today's noon news.
The reporter said, "Today, we are honored to have the CEO of SY Group, Magnus Blackwood. Recently, SY Group successfully went public abroad. In light of this achievement, we are keen to inquire from Mr. Blackwood about the strategies that propelled SY Group's growth from a modest studio to its current expansive stature. Mr. Blackwood, could you share any insights, secrets, or tips that contributed to this remarkable transformation?"
Magnus smiled at the camera. "There's no secret, just a simple desire to make a certain enemy regret."
The reporter continued, "Is this enemy your first love who sent you to prison years ago?"
Upon hearing this question, Magnus's expression didn't change, but his eyes turned cold. "I think today's interview can end here."
The reporter was stunned for a moment, wanting to keep him but gave up when he met Magnus's gaze. "Then we'll end today's interview here."
Magnus then left the studio without looking back.
At this moment, the certain enemy Magnus mentioned was sitting under the TV station building, watching the entire interview.
Seeing that familiar face, Juniper's eyes instantly became wet. Since sending him to prison, she regretted it every day.
If she hadn't framed Magnus that day, would things have been different between them? Would Jenny Beaumont have been happier over the years?
But it was all too late. She had already lost Magnus forever.
