Chapter 5 Jenny Is Everything

While Ophelia and Jenny were messing around with their toys, the TV that had been on in the background suddenly blared out some breaking news.

"Breaking news! SY Group's CEO, Magnus Blackwood, is about to announce his engagement to Mary Walsh, the daughter of the Walsh family. This development has ignited a flurry of discussions. Mr. Blackwood, a prominent figure in the business realm, is celebrated not only for his professional prowess but also for his charismatic persona and exceptional leadership qualities. Miss Walsh, renowned for her elegance and intellect, complements Mr. Blackwood perfectly."

Ophelia gasped, "Oh my God! These two..."

Before Ophelia could say anything more, Juniper quickly covered her mouth and said to Jenny, "Jenny, be good and play by yourself. Ophelia and I are going to get you some yummy treats."

Jenny beamed, "I want two egg tarts!"

Juniper nodded. "Got it!"

With that, they walked out of the room. Ophelia was glued to her phone, scrolling through the news. "Oh my God, how did these two end up together?"

Juniper didn't know Mary, but from the news, Mary seemed really pretty.

Juniper thought, 'Mary must be someone who can really boost Magnus's career, right? But anyway, this has nothing to do with me anymore.'

Juniper said calmly, "Engaged, huh, that's good."

Ophelia watched Juniper closely but didn't see the sadness she expected. Juniper seemed totally calm.

Curious, Ophelia asked, "Aren't you sad?"

"Why would I be sad? Magnus getting engaged means he's moved on. It's good for him. Besides, there's no chance for Magnus and me anymore."

Juniper looked at Ophelia with a hint of helplessness. "Even if I wanted to win him back, do you think he would agree?"

Ophelia nodded, then suddenly got really mad. "He's such a jerk. He knew you were allergic to alcohol and still made you drink. Wasn't he trying to kill you?"

Juniper was taken aback for a moment, then realized. "Mr. Brown told you?"

Ophelia shook her head. "No, it was Michael. He told me to check on you when I had time. Are you feeling better now?"

Juniper patted Ophelia's shoulder reassuringly. "It's okay; it's just a little alcohol; it can't knock me down."

Ophelia glared at Juniper. "Being allergic to alcohol means one slip-up could be fatal, and yet you act so indifferent! But it's also my fault for getting you into that job and making you meet Magnus again.."

Juniper comforted her, "It's okay, Magnus and I would have met sooner or later. It's just that we met earlier; it's not a bad thing."

Ophelia sighed, feeling helpless about this pair of star-crossed lovers. "So what are you going to do in the future, just keep avoiding Magnus?"

Juniper mused, "I don't know either, just take it one step at a time. Right now, nothing is more important than my Jenny."

Ophelia suddenly had a thought. "If Magnus finds out about Jenny, wouldn't he try to take her away and make your life hell?"

She leaned in close to Juniper and whispered, "Juniper, you better take Jenny leave here."

A memory flashed in Juniper's mind. Back then, she had a huge fight with her family and was broke, so she took a night shift job at a restaurant.

One night, while she was serving customers, a drunk guy grabbed her hand and wouldn't let go.

It wasn't until the restaurant owner came out with a kitchen knife that the guy finally let go.

Later, Juniper heard from other customers that the guy got jumped after leaving the restaurant. He was found beaten up, with a broken hand.

She didn't see who did it, but she was sure it was Magnus. No one else would do something like that for her.

When she got home, she asked Magnus, "Was it you who beat that guy? Don't do that again. If someone finds out, you'll get arrested."

Magnus pulled her onto the shoe cabinet, trapping her with his arms, his thigh between her legs.

Before she knew it, she was stuck.

Magnus said, "Juniper, you have no idea how bad I felt when I found out he touched your hand."

He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it gently. Then, he started kissing her skin, and things got heated.

By the time she realized it, they were already going at it.

That night, from the living room to the bedroom, every spot was a witness to their passion.

Magnus had always been like this, a real madman.

Snapping back to reality, Juniper said anxiously, "Ophelia, if Magnus takes Jenny and uses her to get to me, I will lose it."

Inside, Jenny was playing with the toys Ophelia brought. She was having a blast when her stomach growled.

"Snacks, snacks..." Jenny murmured, opening the bag Ophelia brought and finding her favorite treats.

As she ate, she found a magazine.

She couldn't read it but was drawn to the handsome man on the cover.

Jenny muttered, "Mommy will definitely like him!"

Jenny thought, 'With a handsome guy by Mommy's side, she won't think about Daddy all the time and can be happy!'

With that in mind, Jenny happily kissed the man in the magazine.
