Chapter 1

Cecily clutched her swollen belly, struggling to grasp Darian's pant leg. She looked up at him, her pale face drenched in sweat.

"Darian! You can't do this! This is our child, the child is innocent!" She bit her lip hard as waves of intense pain swept over her.

Just moments ago, she had been forced to take an abortion pill, and her husband Darian had stood by, watching everything.

"Cecily, you tricked me into marrying you and caused Ophelia's child to die. You should atone for your sins!" Darian looked at her coldly.

"I've told you countless times, I didn't harm Ophelia's child! Why won't you believe me?" Cecily desperately defended herself. "Save the child, save him."

"Why are you still lying? The person who was caught confessed that you orchestrated everything! Ophelia's child was eight months along, and you caused it to die in the womb! How could you be so cruel?" Darian shoved her away, looking down at her with disdain.

Cecily's pale lips trembled; the pain she was feeling in her heart was far worse than the physical pain.

Ophelia was the one Darien loved, and to avenge Ophelia, he hadn't hesitated to harm Cecily's child!

Cecily had explained to Darian countless times that she hadn't harmed Ophelia, but no matter how much she explained, he still didn't believe her.

Next, Darian threw a divorce agreement in her face and mercilessly said, "Sign it."

Cecily's face turned even paler. She clutched her pregnant belly that was eight months along and shakily stood up, holding onto the bedside table.

She gripped the divorce agreement tightly, her bloodshot eyes fixed on Darian. "I'll divorce you! If you don't believe me and want to avenge Ophelia, fine!

"But this child is also the Fitzgerald family's flesh and blood! Darian, how could you kill your own child?"

Darian's deep eyes stared at her. The air around them seemed to freeze bit by bit.

He glanced at her swollen belly and sneered, "What if the child you're carrying isn't mine?"

Cecily froze instantly, then sneered, "What kind of joke is that?"

"During Grandpa Owen's birthday banquet, Ophelia put an aphrodisiac in your drink, and you ended up in another man's room. I wasn't the man who made love with you that night."

A flash of panic crossed Cecily's eyes. She couldn't believe it and grabbed Darian's collar tightly.

"Impossible, you're lying to me! It was clearly you that night, and you always admitted this child was yours."

During their three years of marriage, Darian had rarely made love with her, but the man's physique and scent that night had made her certain it was Darian.

"Ophelia drugged you, so I felt guilty and admitted the child was mine."

Cecily's pupils contracted sharply. As she listened to Darian's words, a thought formed in her mind.

"So you knew from the start that she drugged me, but you claimed the child was yours in front of everyone to protect her?"

Darian furrowed his brow. He hadn't known about this at first; he had only found out after investigating. He was furious and had reprimanded Ophelia, who also realized her mistake.

In truth, he had also been drunk that night and had made a mistake in having sex with Ophelia, which had resulted in her pregnancy.

Darian looked at Cecily, a hint of guilt in his eyes, but offered no explanation. "Yes."

A crisp and loud slap echoed in his ears. Darian was stunned for a moment, and soon, a burning pain spread across his face.

Cecily endured the excruciating pain in her belly and used all her strength to deliver that slap.

He was heartless! She was his wife, yet he allowed Ophelia to do this to her!

"Darian, do you believe in karma? Ophelia losing her child is her karma! You will have your karma too!" Cecily shouted.

"Back then, you took advantage of my car accident and coma and used tricks to drive Ophelia away and became my wife! Of course Ophelia hates you." Darian's eyes grew increasingly sinister as he looked at her after he was slapped.

His words were so absurd that Cecily didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

She had used tricks to drive Ophelia away and become his wife? When had she ever done such a thing?

Back then, his car accident had led to kidney failure, and she had donated a kidney to save him.

As a reward, Owen had agreed to let her marry Darian, with the only condition being that she couldn't tell Darian about the kidney donation.

At that time, Ophelia, who was engaged to Darian, had heard about his accident and the possibility that he would be in a vegetative state. She had quickly broken off the engagement and fled the country. That was the truth!

A chill spread through Cecily's eyes as she looked at Darian's cold face and spoke through gritted teeth, "Darian, I never owed you anything!"

Darian furrowed his brow, watching her slowly move outside.

Cecily was now eight months pregnant. The abortion pill hadn't been enough to kill her child directly, but her amniotic fluid had broken, and the pain was unbearable, meaning the child was about to be born.

She needed to get to the hospital immediately!

Outside, a sudden clap of spring thunder roared deafeningly, causing Cecily's heart to tremble violently once more.

"Cecily, remember, once you walk out that door, we will have nothing to do with each other anymore." Darian watched her disheveled and panicked figure. "We will be divorced."

Cecily's eyes were filled with deep despair. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

How ridiculous, he was so heartless to her, yet she had loved him deeply!

Without waiting for him to continue, Cecily gritted her teeth and walked out alone.

Darian'seyes narrowed.

Was she trying to kill herself by running out alone right now?
