Chapter 6

'I bet they know who Mommy is! I've got to tell her as soon as possible!'

Griffin hurriedly ran out only to be stopped by a servant, who said, "Where are you going? Mr. Fitzgerald told us not to let you out."

Anxious, Griffin looked around, knowing that the staff and bodyguards here definitely wouldn't allow him to go out alone. He was just a kid after all.

Even if he did go out, he'd be followed by a bunch of people, and there was no way he could go to Cecily.

After pondering, he looked at the servant, asking, "May I use your phone? I wanna call someone."

He thought, 'I've got to reach Mommy as soon as possible! My gut tells me something's off.'

The servant looked apologetically at Griffin. "Sorry, Mr. Watson, we're not allowed to bring phones during work hours."

Griffin asked again, "What about a laptop? I wanna play games."

The servant nodded. "Yes, Mr. Watson, please wait a moment. I'll get it for you right away."

Soon, a top-of-the-line laptop was placed in front of Griffin. He turned it on and began to skillfully operate it.

When Cecily had just finished dinner with Rowan, her phone rang.

She quickly answered the call. "Hello."

"Come to the hospital now," Edward said urgently.

Cecily was puzzled. "Why the rush? What's going on?"

"I'll tell you after you get here," Edward quickly said and then hung up, not giving her a chance to ask further questions.

Cecily felt puzzled, thinking, 'He didn't sound like there was a problem with a patient, so why was he so urgent?'

As Cecily pondered, Darian's gloomy and terrifying face suddenly popped up in her mind.

She began to feel uneasy, thinking, 'Darian recognized me? No. No way. I was wearing a mask today. There's no way he could tell it was me. So what happened?'

Cecily was puzzled.

But since Edward called her, she had to go.

"Griffin, I'm going out for a while. Be a good boy, and don't open the door for any strangers, okay?"

Hearing this, Rowan looked up at Cecily. "Where are you going?"

"Hospital. There's something urgent. Here is the laptop. If you get bored, you can play it for a while, okay?"

Cecily took out her laptop and placed it in front of Rowan.

Rowan nodded. "Okay."

Cecily smiled. "That's my boy. All right, bye."

After Cecily left, Rowan sat on the sofa, feeling a bit uneasy as he had been out for so long, and Darian might worry about him and come out to look for him.

Just as he was thinking, the laptop suddenly made a sound.

Rowan frowned, turned on the laptop, and saw a face identical to his pop up. It was Rowan.

They stared silently at each other.

Although they both knew of each other's existence, seeing each other like this still left them stunned.

Griffin was the first to react. "Are you my mom's other son? I'm Griffin. What's your name?"

Coming back from his surprise, Rowan pursed his lips and nodded, responding, "Rowan."

Griffin blinked, thinking that his brother was a bit aloof.

He immediately added, "Mom mistook you for me and brought you home."

Looking around at Griffin's surroundings, Rowan also understood and said, "Seems that my dad also mistook you for me and brought you home."

"Yes, we'll talk more about this later. Mom said you're older than me. Rowan, where's Mom?" Griffin asked.

Rowan replied, "She went to the hospital. Seems like something urgent."

"Oh, no!" Griffin gritted his teeth, thinking, 'This isn't good.'

"What's wrong?" Rowan asked.

"It's a long story. Dad seems to have found Mom's current identity, and he's very angry. I'm afraid he might do something bad to Mom," Griffin said.

Rowan's expression grew more serious. Because of Ophelia, he knew that Darian and Cecily's relationship wasn't good.

Now, hearing Griffin's words, Rowan also became anxious.

"Rowan, I need to borrow your identity for a bit," Griffin said.

"Go ahead. Be careful of Ophelia. She's very wicked!" Rowan tried to warn Griffin.

"Got it. Time is short. Get in touch later."

"Okay."

Cecily had just arrived at the hospital and was thinking of finding a parking spot. Suddenly, a group of men in black rushed out from all sides, surrounding her car in an instant.

Seeing this, Cecily thought to herself, 'This is bad.'

She reacted quickly, preparing to reverse out. But soon, a black car blocked her way.

Cecily had no choice but to hit the brakes. Then, someone outside knocked on her car window. "Ms. Watson, please step out of the car."

Cecily's face darkened a bit, and she didn't move.

After a few seconds, the commotion outside grew louder.

Then, Cecily heard Larkin's indifferent voice. He repeated impatiently, "Ms. Watson, please step out of the car."

Cecily rubbed her temples, realizing that Darian had found her eventually! She wanted to escape, but they didn't give her a chance.

Cecily parked the car, unbuckled her seat belt, got out of the car, and looked around, frowning deeply.

She snorted in her heart, 'So they've been waiting for me here, huh?'

Darian stood a few feet away from the car with a cigarette between his fingers, the smoke obscuring his handsome face.

The dim light made it hard for Cecily to see Darian's expression clearly. But even from a few feet away, she could feel his coldness.

Cecily stiffened, and her hands at her sides clenched suddenly. She instinctively wanted to run, but his sharp and deep eyes were fixed on her, making it impossible for her to escape.

Forcing herself to calm down, Cecily remembered that her mask was still on as usual. But Darian's gaze seemed to pierce through that thin mask, enabling him to see through her.

"Cecily," Darian called out her name through his gritted teeth.

Instantly, Cecily felt her blood run cold and her heart race nervously.

"Do we know each other?" Cecily forced herself to calm down, asking in a cold voice.

Darian gave a cold smile, thinking, 'She's still pretending?'

"I don't know you, sir. Sorry, I gotta go." Cecily turned to walk toward the hospital.

Darian didn't stop her.

However, Cecily was soon caught by two burly bodyguards and brought back to Darian.

"Let go of me! How dare you? What do you think you're doing?" Cecily was thrown in front of Darian. Before she could stand up, Darian reached out and pulled off her mask, revealing her exquisite and beautiful face.

Darian saw Cecily's face, almost identical to five years ago, and his expression turned even more sinister.

He grabbed her chin, coldness filling his eyes. He chuckled with anger, "Cecily, you're still pretending not to know me?"
