I was tired, had been for the last week now, especially when I remembered our fight. Could it even have been called a fight considering we were nothing less than acquaintances to one another, I was sick and tired of this.
Now was my time to get revenge
I watched the man with the cigar in his hand with little to no interest. I was taking a look around – or I had been looking for Corey and I had noticed him during the wait, I had only seconds to look at him with his shoulders blocking the bar, I had remembered it being annoying but not as annoying as the woman who was really too young to be poured into that dress that clung to him, too young to even be drinking but this was a bar Corey visited when he wasn't trying to cause trouble for his cousins.
She had red lipstick on, her blue dress was a size too small and would have worked if she were a little bit older or was that a lie too. I sighed running my hands through my hair a little. I needed to get somewhere with Corey, the faster I did the faster I could get divorced from Alex .End this farce.
Corey Montgomery walked in through the door. The son and only heir to the Montgomery empire, my lover and my murderer. He was as handsome as always and he was the reason I was here to begin with.
The young man and the woman hanging on his arms looked to Corey. In fact the whole room looked to him, the girl wanted him and the boy looked jealous.
Corey took a puff of his cigarette and blew out the smoke in a soft exhale then looked to the woman who'd latched on his arms, his gaze blank, he didn't look like a man interested.
His company, must have felt my gaze cause her eyes raised to mine and turned predatory.
He was a charming man,but I wasn't really here for Corey Montgomery looks. I was here because he had means to get me what I wanted – revenge.
He had the secrets he needed to hide to I just had to guage just how much he wanted me and how much I could get away with to find out those secrets.
He was at the bar, the woman from earlier had been sent off but in the last five minutes more women had walked up to him and he had sent them all away, one kept clinging though and so I decided to go in.
I slid into a bar stool, I looked to the bar tender briefly
" I'll have why he's having and one more for him" I said softly.
Corey startled at my presence looking to me with confusion at first then with surprise.
" Am I interrupting" I asked gesturing to the lady sitting besides him. He looked to me and shrugged her off
" Not at all "
The bartender dropped my drink and he gulped his down,the bartender slid another one to him, he took a sip and then looked to me
" How come you're here" he asked and I leaned back
" I was hoping to catch you here " I said softly and he smiled
"Sorry about the ladies" he mumbled. I stiffened then relaxed taking a drink
" It's not a problem, you're a handsome man so I expected this. " I said and he smiled taking my hand
" But I think want only you I'm hoping you being here means you want me too " he said and I stilled,
" What do you mean by that " I asked and he shrugged
" Do you want me"
" I don't know, maybe but there is Alex and I am married to him. I have to be careful " I muttered and he shrugged
" Of course, and I'm willing to wait and help you as much as I can" he replied.
I said nothing in reply just sipping at my drink it was obvious he was happy about this. His feet kept tapping at the floor and he played with the glass of wine.
" Do you want to come with me, I have a room upstairs" he asked and I sighed.
" This place is so open, we need somewhere quiet" I murmured hoping he'd catch the drift, and he did, his eyes widened and nodded
" My place is near here, we can go there"
I smiled as if that suggestions had just made my day
" I'll just use the bathroom" I said to him, and he nodded
" Let me settle the bill" he murmured and I nodded taking my bag in my hands and moved in the direction of the bathroom, I walked in and took a loud breathe, trying to calm down.
I looked at my face in mirror and sighed. Shit I was too pale, how hadn't the idiot noticed it. I was glad he hadn't though that meant I could fix it. I grabbed my blush and powder and got to work immediately and soon I had my face looking like I was supremely pleased to see him which was a feat at this moment.
I was out the bathroom when a hand grabbed mine
" Wrong person to be going home with don't you think" a man whispered behind me looking into my eyes, I watched him with surprise and a little wary.
" What the hell are you doing in the women's bathroom" I asked because that was the first thing that came out of my mouth, he looked to me and grinned, which made him no less scary but reduced it by a few beats.
His eyes were blue, a blue so pale they looked white. I swallowed a bit and pulled back from him
" I don't know why you're laughing at this but this is not where you're supposed to be" I said stiffly.
" Well don't you think this is a dangerous place to be going right now" he asked and I sighed
" How is that any of your business " I asked and he shrugged, his lips quirked, but he didn't seem to be smiling, he wanted it to seem like he was but that was a sham.
" Just helpful advice" He smiled looking away to the bar where Corey seemed nervous,boh I knew that wasn't necessarily nerves , maybe excitement.
I scoffed looking away from him unnerved by his attention,
" Well I didn't ask for it" I muttered, Corey gaze caught mine and waved at him to reassure him I was still in this, I moved to go and the stranger grabbed my hand so I paused
" What the hell is your problem" I hissed at him and he pulled away from me
" What's your name" he asked and I huffed
" Julie" I replied, then I looked to him
" What's yours" he smiled and said
" Take this, we'll meet again"he muttered, pressing into my hand a rubber container before walking away.
I picked my bag and looked to his back as he disappeared from the club, I looked to my hand where a bottle of pepper spray was lodged.
I shoved it into my bag and returned back to bar where Corey was waiting for me, with a small smile that he seemed to reserve for me and me alone, I tried not to react when his arm wrapped around my waist.
We walked out the bar to his apartment which wasn't far from here as he'd said bit it wasn't one of the ones I knew, it was a smaller place which was an exaggeration considering he was a Montgomery and had an ego the size of a mansion in the Belview area.
He opened the door one smiling widely. He kissed my cheek and I tried to stop myself from jerking at his touch.
He showed the living room and I smiled
" Nice place " I muttered and he smiled
" You want a drink" he asked and I smiled nodding as he strolled away to the cupboard
" This place is new" i said and he laughed
" Bought it a couple of months back " he said and I nodded,as I walked round the room trying to monitor where everything was and how there were placed, it seemed to be a three room with maybe a study, I heard the splash of drinks as I wandered off the he paused and cursed
" I have to get another glass " he mumbled and I nodded
Once he was out of sight, I hurried through the place pushing door in and checking, I found his study and peeked in to see his books, I didn't find anything interesting . I pulled out the drawers, the first was open and nothing of important was inside it, the only thing was a diary that had business meetings that I quickly ignored.
The next drawer was locked and I needed a key, the top of the table had only a single picture frame, I heard footsteps in the hall and I grabbed the frame of the table staring at the pictures if Josh Montgomery, a little boy I assumed was Corey and a man I didn't know at all, the door opened as I gripped it trying to play for normalcy as I did my grip too tight that it was making my fingers pale.
I looked to him, smiling
" Hey, " I said angling myself so I could close the drawer that was partly open.
" Hey, what are you doing here" he asked walking into the room , I was trying not to shake, if he saw the drawer open there was no explaining that away.
" I was curious" I muttered, laughing breathily.
