Chapter 6

Doar!

The shrill sound of ammunition being launched reverberated loudly. Splitting the wind, traversing the air in an instant, ending up on a man's forehead, piercing the skin, flesh, and skull. What a creepy sound. But to Jona's ears, it was like humming. The sound of a leaking head, blood flowing to the ground—a life lost in an instant.

It sounds melodious and satisfying.

The same sound buzzed twice as much. Two more pieces of ammunition flashed through the air. Penetrating the man's abdomen as well as his heart. Destroying the core of his body. Decisively, taking his life.

Blood splatters, littering the ground.

Not only the ground, but some of the people who were there as well. Jona was sure that all the bodyguards swarming around him were splattered with their comrade's blood. It was just that they were slow.

Shock stopped them from moving. A few seconds passed unnoticed, filled with silent shudders. They were surprised to get an unexpected shot from the woman they had thought had no fangs. And that pause without moving was more than enough time for Jona to retrieve the weapon from inside her sock.

A folding knife. One that is specially sharpened to slice the flesh of its enemies.

The weapon that Jona had been hiding.

"Ah!"

It was the scream that woke them up.

Suddenly everyone turned to Jona, no longer staring at a man who was now almost headless on the cold ground. But their reflexes were not fast enough.

Before they could dodge, Jona first put the knife to each of their necks, slashed each nape, splashed blood like a shower after the veins were slashed, and one by one dropped the lifeless humans following the previous one.

"Ah! help-"

Too late. The last man, Jona, managed to lay on the ground. He whitened as a shower of water pooled under his head.

And last but not least...

"Asshole! Ah!"Edgar's scream rang out at the top of his lungs. Voicing the unbearable pain as Jona's knife sliced his eyeball, splitting it in two, Missed. Jona actually wanted to slash Edgar's neck like her subordinates, killing Edgar without thinking. But this man was better at dodging than Jona thought.

He took a step back just before Jona could push his to hell and with quick steps, panic, and screams of fear, he darted back. he was looking for his car. "You're going to regret this, Rey!"he snapped, sounding pathetic instead of creepy. "Wait for my revenge!"

And with that, the man left, leaving behind his subordinates, who had cooled down completely and descended from the hill area, disappearing as fast as lightning.

And of course, Jona was too lazy to chase after him.

"Boss,"a man's call made Jona turn his head. Devan is his right-hand man. The man who sneaked in unnoticed by Edgar's subordinates came to help. He was the one who pressed the trigger with Carlie.

"Should we go after him?"he asked.

Jona froze for a moment, staring at the road that lay before him. Then he sighed. "No, let it go. Isn't it better to let him suffer for a while with half-blind eyes?"asked Jona, carefree.

Devan smiled. "You have a point,"he said. He turned to Jona, taking in his entire body. "Are you hurt?"

Jona raised one eyebrow. "Do iblook like someone who's hurt?"

Devan laughed. "No,"he said.

"Just i was quite surprised. When i approached, you were suddenly surrounded by 10 of Edgar's weak subordinates playing around,"Devan carved a smile that grew higher—his amused smile. "It's been years since i've seen you face down on the asphalt."

Jona laughed blandly. "Oh, that,"he chuckled. "That's because-"

"Jonathan Austin, you asshole!"

The smile on Jona's face at that moment also blossomed, so wide that happiness clearly imprinted on his face. A hysterical scream came from behind his, from Carlie's vocal cords. There was fear, panic, and frustration. Her voice was pitiful.

And Jona knew that she was the cause of Carlie's hysterical screams.

"You can kill them yourself, asshole!"she snapped out loud. Jona turned his head. He couldn't help but think that she would run out of voice after this. "You could have gotten up on your own and killed all those people without my help!"she continued. "But why?

"WHY ARE YOU ACTING SO WEAK THAT I HAVE TO GET MY HANDS DIRTY!?"

The sound is sad. There was a mix of destruction there.

Jona's smile was engraved with satisfaction. "Isn't it my choice to kill them or not?"he asked defiantly. He loved it when someone's mentality crumbled before him. He was happy when he killed someone's soul. Especially when a 'holy' person realizes they have killed their fellow man.

This is very satisfying.

"How does it feel, Eloise? Having your hands covered in someone's blood?"he asked.

"Fuck!"screamed Carlie, her desperation obvious. "This is all because of you! I never wanted to do it!"

"I DON'T WANT TO KILL ANYONE IN MY LIFE! I DON'T WANT TO END ANYONE'S LIFE!"

"And you, demon!"screamed Carlie uncontrollably. "You made me do it! You made me finish that man, with ammunition in my hands, when all my  heart screams that i won't do it!"

Jona chuckled. "Is blaming me like that going to change the fact that you ended someone's life? Accept it. You did it, you killed him,"Jona's smile was so wide and wicked. "You're a murderer now, Eloise."

Carlie's jaw clenched, not even tears were threatening now. Her tears were actually flowing. A mixture of panic and anger. "I'm not,"she muttered faintly. "I'm not a murderer, dammit!"

"Then whose fault is it?"challenged Jona again. "Isn't it yours?"

One's mental death—the destruction of one's mind—is many times more satisfying than physical death. It was like reading a story. And now he was at the peak of his fantasy. Lost in bliss.

And the tears Carlie emitted—the fear, the darkness, the frustration, and the screams of regret—brought Jona to the peak of his series. He was thrilled to see her, the strong woman, screaming in fear.

"Devan,"Jona called. Devan turned his head quickly. "Call our underlings to clean up this mess. Not the ones at the bar, I'm sure they're all gone,"Devan nodded obediently.

"And also take the alcohol, then deprive the woman of consciousness,"Jona continued. "We'll take her together back to the bunker."
