Chapter 5

Freshia Ava's POV

I was confused when Simon grabbed his hand and was taken back into the house in a hurry. I immediately stopped in my tracks and yanked hard at my hand which was in Simon's grasp. We are currently in the hallway that connects the door that leads to the garden and the door that leads to the main hall which is the venue for that evening's event.

I winced a little after finally freeing my hand from Simon's quite strong grip. Simon, who immediately regained consciousness, also stopped in his tracks. With great regret, he apologized to me for what he had just done. “I'm really sorry, Freshia.”

"Actually, what happened that made you grab my hand so tightly and hastily drag me back inside?" I asked while rubbing my wrist which had been pulled tightly by Simon.

Simon was silent for a moment before finally answering. “It's cold outside, Freshia. If you stay under the snow too long, you'll catch a cold.”

I knew that the answer he gave was a lie. Because actually, when Simon was silent looking at one of the dim rooms in this house, I was also looking at that room. I saw the figure of a man who met my gaze. However, when I wanted to observe the man's entire face which was covered by the dim light in the room, I couldn't see him clearly. Apart from that, Simon suddenly grabbed my hand to go back inside.

“Don't lie, Simon. I knew you were like that after looking at the dimly lit room on the second floor, right? What's actually in that room?”

Simon, who heard my words, immediately widened his eyes. He looked very surprised. "So, you saw it too?"

Hearing Simon ask me questions made me a little annoyed. I closed my eyes for a moment to calm my annoyance. “Yes, I saw a man standing next to the window looking at us. But I didn't have time to see his face clearly because of the lack of light in the room and what's more, you immediately dragged me away. Do you know him?”

But Simon was just silent, seeming reluctant to answer the question I asked.

I took a breath. "Okay, if you don't want to tell me, I'll find out for myself," I said back.

"Don't!" Simon exclaimed suddenly. “Don't you ever try to find out about that man, Freshia!” Simon said again.

After that, he immediately rubbed his face roughly. “Ok, fine, I'll tell you a little. That man is Eros Robinson. Have you ever heard his name?”

I seemed to think for a moment then nodded my head. “Like your family, he's one of the most influential businessmen in the country, isn't he?”

"Yes. But unlike my family, which was successful after merging with another company, this man managed to become a billionaire through his own efforts. Eros is known to be very harsh and cruel. He will do anything to achieve his goals and whatever he wants. Therefore, he was feared by people. My family also always reminded me not to deal with him. He's not just anyone, Freshia. So, don't even try to find out about him, let alone deal with someone like him." Said Simon who finally explained. “Oh yeah, one more thing. I haven't told you who the owner of this event is. She's Mrs. Winston, you know her, don't you?”

“Yes, I know a lot of information about Mrs. Winston. Who is a student in our department who doesn't know her? Owner of the number one diamond company in the country and he is the most difficult businessman for any businessman to work with.”

“Exactly! So, then why do we find Eros in one of the dimly lit rooms in Mrs. Winston's house, when the event should only be held in the main hall?" Simon said.

I was silent. “I heard that the two of them have a special past. Mrs. Winston was like a mother to Eros. But no one knows what the true relationship between the two is.”

"That's enough, enough. That's too far for me. The important thing is that my question has been answered and I already know the reason why you had to drag me like that. If you don't have to deal with him, what else do I? There's no reason for me to meet him face to face, let alone deal with him, right? So you don't need to worry, Simon.”

“Well, I'm relieved if you think like that. Well then, let's go back inside. It looks like Mrs. Winston will soon appear to show off her rare diamond collection.”

I just kept quiet and followed Simon who was walking in front of me. To be honest, deep down in my heart, I still have great curiosity about the figure of Eros Robinson.

“Since when has that man been standing next to the window? Then why does he have to be in a dark room in someone else's house, when there's a big event going on down here?" I thought. But I immediately shook my head, trying to dispel the thoughts that I felt were none of my business.

But a split second later, I found my body colliding with someone and I felt cold in my chest, making me wake up from my previous reverie. “Hey, don't you have eyes?” Rebuked the person who collided with me, who at that time was carrying a glass of wine in his hand and all the contents had now moved to my body. I just kept quiet. My brain is still processing what just happened to me.

Simon, who had been walking in front of me, immediately turned around when he heard a commotion behind him. He just realized what was happening to me and immediately rushed to help me.

“Freshia, oh, No. Your clothes are all wet." Said Simon who was now beside me. Swiftly, he immediately took out his handkerchief and handed it in front of me. I immediately accepted it.

I, who was still shocked by what had just happened, just took a deep breath before saying, "Sorry, Miss, I didn't see you earlier."

The woman who collided with me seemed to snort. "It's clear that I was in front of you earlier. Look now my clothes are also splashed with wine!" She said while showing the wine stains on the sleeves of the long dress she wore that night, which was nothing compared to the wine stains that spilled almost all over my chest.

“It was just a splash, Evelyn, don't make a big deal out of it!” Simon said suddenly, which suddenly surprised me because it turned out that Simon knew the woman who collided with me earlier.

“Wow, not only did you embarrass me for letting me come here alone, but now you're also defending this woman in front of me? It's clear that he hit me, Simon. You should scold him for hitting your fiancé!"

The woman whose name was Evelyn exclaimed in a loud voice that could almost be heard throughout the room. My surprise had not yet finished over the fact that Simon knew the woman in front of me, now I was shocked a second time by the fact that he had just said. Because while he was friends with Simon, the man never told him that he was engaged. I felt uncomfortable in my heart when I found out the reality that I had just found out. I feel betrayed.

“After all, who could he be to come to this event? This was an event that only top people could attend. Meanwhile, who is he? Its origins are unclear." Evelyn said sarcastically.

“Evelyn, enough!” Simon shouted at the woman who was his fiancee.

Then at the same time, I saw a middle-aged woman walking gracefully through the crowd of people who were surrounding me, Simon, and Evelyn, making everyone look in amazement at the woman who still looked beautiful and handsome even at her age. not young anymore. A long dark red dress that hugged her slender body supported her appearance that evening. Stunned everyone present there.

I know that figure. This is Mrs. Winston, the owner of the diamond exhibition being held that evening.

“I don't like any noise at my events. Can you just let it go so this event can continue?” Mrs. Winston said to Evelyn when she arrived near us. Evelyn looked very surprised because she was the one being reprimanded by Mrs. Winston. I saw the woman's face change instantly.

She didn't seem to accept it and I saw her become even more angry when after that Mrs. Winston immediately called a servant and told her to take me to change my wet clothes into Mrs. Winston's clothes in the dressing room on the second floor of her house.
