Chapter 8

Freshia Ava's POV

I just felt aches all over my body this morning. This seemed to be the effect of last night's events. Finally, I decided to stretch a little by turning my head left and right, also lifting my arms, and then stretching my body to the right and left. A few seconds later, a notification came from my cell phone which I placed on the small drawer right next to my bed.

It turned out that it was a notification from a reminder application indicating that today I had to go back to the dormitory because starting tomorrow, my tutoring schedule would be busy again.

My campus does provide dormitory facilities for its students and I am also one of those who use these facilities. However, a month ago I returned home because my grandmother, who was my only family, passed away. Now, I'm alone. Since childhood, I have never met my parents.

My Grandma once told me that they decided to separate when I was four years old. Then after that, my mother left and her whereabouts are unknown until now, my father, who was my grandmother's only child, died one year later. So since I was little, I only lived and was raised by my grandmother. To this day, I still don't know what my mother looked like because my grandmother said there wasn't a single photo of her left in this house.

I decided to get out of bed and get ready to go back to the dormitory. When I looked at my reflection in the mirror in the bathroom, I realized that there were several red spots around the back of my neck and shoulders. I immediately remembered what Eros did to me last night.

I, who felt hypnotized by him at that time, immediately regretted my stupidity in allowing him to do this intimate thing to me. Moreover, I felt ashamed of myself who also seemed to be enjoying it that night. "Stupid," I said, cursing myself.

I just got off the bus which was my ride from home to campus. The student dormitories are located at the back of campus so I still have to pass through this campus to get there. While walking, suddenly I heard someone calling me. I turned around and found Simon half running towards me.

“Freshia, can we talk for a moment?” He said when he arrived near me. I seemed to think for a moment before finally accepting his invitation.

"What's wrong, Simon?" I said starting the conversation when we were sitting on one of the long benches closest to where we were standing before.

"To be honest, I'm still curious about what happened last night. Are you really not going to tell me what really happened between you and Eros?"

I took a deep breath before finally deciding to answer Simon's question. I knew if I didn't tell him, he would keep bringing it up. "Last night after you left me in my room, when I was going to lock the door before changing my clothes, suddenly the lights in the room went off and I found someone already in the room. Suddenly he came closer to me and from there I knew that that person was Eros. He said that he had entered the wrong room and would come out soon. But, suddenly when I was about to walk, my foot tripped and I was about to fall. But he quickly grabbed my body and we fell together on the bed, where after that you came and saw us." I lied to Simon.

I don't want to prolong this problem. Besides, I thought, I wouldn't have anything to do with Eros anymore.

Simon still looked doubtful about my story. I know he definitely won't just believe it, considering that he believes that Eros is an unpredictable and dangerous person.

"Okay, then that's the story. The most important thing is that you are fine. I just want to remind you again to continue to be careful with Eros, and Freshia. People like him weren't people who would make a small mistake like entering someone else's room by mistake. I felt he had another purpose. But hopefully, this is just my worry.”

Hearing Simon's words made me think again. Is it true that Eros has certain intentions towards me? But I immediately put that thought aside because I didn't find any possibility that could be a reason for him to have a relationship with me. “Yes, Simon. Thank you for worrying about me. But don't worry, I can definitely take care of myself."

“Okay, Freshia. Oh yes, apart from that, I want to offer you to take part in an internship program organized by one of my family's subsidiaries. Are you interested?”

“Thank you for your offer, Simon. But I don't want to get a job through anyone's connections. I want to try it myself. Besides, I don't want this to cause me to have problems with your fiancé again." I said.

Simon was just silent.

“Besides, I think it's good if we don't get too close now because I don't want problems like yesterday to happen again. Try to respect Evelyn's feelings more." I said back.

After that, I immediately said goodbye to Simon and rushed to the dorm because Amara, who was my roommate, was waiting for me.

A few days later, I received a notification in my email from White Stone, one of the well-known diamond mining companies in this country, where they invited me to do an interview which would be held in one week as one of the prospective interns for the position of research analyst. I was surprised because I didn't remember ever sending my internship application to that company.

I immediately told this to my roommate, Ning Amara, who at that time was sitting on the bed with me. “Amara, take a look at this email. Do you think that's true? I'm afraid it's just a scam."

Ning Amara took the tablet that was previously in my hand, and read the contents of the email I showed her. “Wow, an interview invitation at White Stone? You never told me that you applied there?”

“That's precisely it. I never felt like sending an application to White Stone. But why did I get an interview invitation?”

Ning Amara frowned, she seemed to be thinking. “But the email domain is the official domain of White Stone. Oh, I know. How about you try calling the number in the email directly to make sure." I immediately followed Amara's suggestion to contact the contact number listed at the end of the email section right away.

A few minutes later, after I hung up the phone, Amara immediately asked me several questions. “How, how? What did he say? Is it really an official invitation from them?"

I nodded my head then enthusiastically she immediately hugged me. “Wow, congratulations, Freshia! You're so great. Never mind, in my opinion, there is no need to think anymore about how they can interview you even though you don't feel like applying there. Maybe you forgot, Freshia. Just take the best part because you will have the opportunity to intern at a prestigious company,” she said.

I just nodded my head, agreeing with his thoughts.

The next day, after finishing tutoring with Professor Adelaine regarding my final assignment, I decided to visit my late grandmother's grave.

Thirty minutes is the time it takes from my campus to my grandmother' burial place by bus. After getting off the bus at the nearest stop, I only needed to walk a distance of approximately 200 meters to arrive at the cemetery area which I regularly visit once a week.

As usual, before visiting Grandma, I always stop by the flower shop which is located not far from the bus stop where I got off before. I bought several sprigs of white lilies that my grandmother loved when she was alive, then rushed to her final resting place. That day it snowed quite heavily so I decided to open the folding umbrella that I always carry in my bag. When I walked along the path, which was deserted at that time, I felt someone following me, but when I stopped to just check my surroundings, I didn't find anyone or anything suspicious. So I decided to continue my journey.

I spent almost fifteen minutes at my grandmother's grave praying and also telling her what had happened to me. I consider my grandmother like my personal diary. After I was satisfied with the story, I immediately said goodbye because the situation was getting colder. I tightened my thick pink coat, which was protecting my body at that time, before leaving my grandmother's grave.

After walking not far from my grandmother's grave, I saw a man standing with his back to me. He is seen facing a tombstone. Wearing only a long dark blue coat and without wearing any protection on his head, he looked unmoved in his place. He seemed to be praying very solemnly. When I passed him, I saw that his hair and coat were wet. "Isn't he cold?" I thought. Fnally I decided to get closer to him and cover him.

He, who realized what I was doing, immediately turned around and I was surprised to find that the figure of the man who was now under the same umbrella as me was Eros Robinson.
