7. Broken Heart

The handsome face she had liked for a long time was in front of her. Carlson Marvin, her campus friend, treated Rose to dinner that night. However, Carlson casually asked about Rose's status. It was clear that Rose, who had liked Carlson for a long time, was shocked. The girl even choked on the carbonated drink she was drinking.

"Are you okay?" Carlson asked, even sitting next to her.

"Yes, my nose is hot," answered Rose.

"Gosh, I should have just ordered fruit juice," said Carlson, looking guilty.

"Never mind, I'm not a baby, I can even drink alcohol," answered Rose.

"I see, you're a grown woman now," replied Carlson, smiling a little mockingly as if he couldn't believe it.

"Of course,"

"I don't believe it, I'm pretty sure you're still single now," Carlson guessed.

Rose was silent, her face sad. Carlson's guess was correct, but what annoyed her even more was that the man didn't know that he was the reason Rose never dated anyone else.

"Don't frown, I'm just joking. I'm sure once you find the right man you will fall in love. Just like me,"

"What do you mean?" Rose asked.

“I started dating,” he answered.

"Are you serious?" Rose's heart almost stopped when she heard that. She couldn't believe the man she liked would say that.

"Yes,"

"Who with? Do I know her?” Rose asked.

"Yes, I think you know, our classmate," answered Carlson lightly.

"Really? Who?"

“Jane,” Carlson answered shyly, waiting for Rose's reaction.

"What? Are you dating Jane?” asked Rose, very surprised.

“Yeah, you're surprised! I'm sure you'll be surprised!” Carlson said.

Hearing Jane's name mentioned, Rose gaped. How could it not be, the woman named Jane was her best friend, they were quite close in class. They were roommates on a student study tour and Jane understood how much Rose idolized Carlson.

“You're dating Jane? Impossible!" Rose replied, still not wanting to believe it.

“She said I shouldn't tell you, but I know you two are close friends and I think you'd be happy for Jane if I told you,” Carlson explained.

Rose grinned, instead of being happy, she felt betrayed. It was clear that Jane knew that Rose liked Carlson. But without saying anything, Jane ended up dating him, what a disappointing friend.

“Rose, why are u silent?”

“Yes, Carlson. I am okay. Of course, I am happy for you both," answered Rose.

Rose continued drinking, she also started eating the dishes on the table without looking at Carlson. Honestly, she wanted to cry, but more than sadness she was annoyed. She felt that Jane was very hypocritical, she looked good and seemed to support her, she always listened when Rose told her anything about Carlson but instead, she was dating her crush in secret.

"How is your work?" Carlson asked.

"Good,"

"Where do you work?" Carlson asked.

“At Atom Point,” Rose answered.

“Atom Points? Are you serious? I applied there many times, I even had a perfect curriculum vitae and college grades to attach. But they never accepted me, how did you get in there?” Carlson asked.

Rose heard Carlson's complaint, then a crooked smile appeared on her lips.

"I'm quite close to the CEO, he liked my performance and I got in there easily," answered Rose Badass.

"Are you serious? You have to be kidding me, the CEO of Atom Points is one of the richest people in the world and very influential. How do you know him?" Carlson replied, not wanting to believe it.

Rose just smiled, she didn't want to continue being arrogant. She just went back to drinking and then answered.

“Yeah, maybe I was just lucky!” Rose answered.

Carlson smiled, and then he started munching on the smoked squid he ordered.

"There's a reunion next week, have you received the invitation?" Carlson asked.

"Reunion? What invitation?"

“Yes, it's in your app, check it out!” Carlson said.

Rose checked her cell phone, there was indeed an invitation to a reunion next week. She's been too busy lately, she hasn't had time to read the notifications in her campus alumni chat group.

"Yes, there is, I just read it," said Rose.

"Jane and I will come, I hope you can come, Rose," said Carlson.

"I'll try, but I don't promise," answered Rose.

"No! You have to promise to come! The event is on a Saturday night, no offices are open on Saturday nights! You also don't have a date, so you have no excuse not to come! Come on Rose, you have to come! "Without you, it wouldn't be fun," persuaded Carlson with a pitiful face.

Rose looked at the man's face, he was indeed the man she had always liked, but the fact that he was dating her best friend was a hard thing. Moreover, at the reunion, Jane will also be there, so it will be very awkward for her.

“Hey, you said you needed my help with the groceries?” Carlson asked offering help.

“No need, it's not too much. "I was just joking, I'll say goodbye for now, see you next time," replied Rose, who immediately left Carlson.

The man looked surprised, he watched Rose until the girl left the restaurant. Rose walked quickly, she didn't even look back, walked quickly towards the house she rented in the cold air, Rose's tears started to fall.

It had been a long time since she cried, Rose was a strong girl, but her disappointment in Jane made her cry that night. Rose, who is an only child, always considered Jane her sister, they even chatted with each other last week, but she didn't expect that Jane would end up dating the man she liked without any explanation to her.

“Jane, you broke my heart! Not Carlson!” she muttered disappointedly.

Rose looked weak, went into the room she rented, and started putting away her shopping. The place is quite neat although not big. Contains one kitchen near the living room, and one bedroom with an en suite bathroom.

The girl felt very tired so that her body would be fresher, she took a shower. Warm water at night makes her body more relaxed, and that will make her sleep better. But the sound of her cell phone ringing made her speed up her shower.

“Who's calling me at this time of night,” she muttered.

After she finished showering, her cell phone was still ringing. Rose checked, but she failed to pick up the call. Several phone calls from Jane, the woman she wanted to avoid at the moment.

About three calls came in, and Rose silenced them. She instead set the call to silent mode.

“What does she want? Does she want to clarify that she's dating Carlson? It sucks!" Rose muttered cursing her cell phone.

It didn't stop there, she started grumbling to herself.

"You should have said that you also like Carlson, so I don't have to tell you at length about my feelings,"

“How can I answer your call? I feel so embarrassed now!” Rose grumbled.

Rose's cell phone, which was in silent mode, stopped vibrating, but 10 minutes later the cell phone vibrated again because there was an incoming call.

“Oh my God, Jane! What do you want? You already got Carlson, why do you keep bothering me!” Rose grumbled in annoyance and started checking her cell phone.

"What? So it's not Jane, huh?” she muttered, feeling surprised when a new number she didn't recognize made a call.

Rose picked up, "Hello, who are you?" Rose asked.

“Hi, Rose!” answered a male voice.

"Who?"

"Is me, Liuz,"

"Good grief!" Rose was shocked, she didn't expect the alien to call her.

"Why are you silent?" asked him.

“It's outside working hours, we're not friends so please don't bother me, Sir!” Rose replied curtly.

“Is that what humans do? "Very strange," answered Liuz.

“I will hang up on you!” said Rose.

"Don't! I have arrived!" Liuz answered.

"Arrived? Where to?" Asked Rose was surprised.

"Look at the sky!" said Liuz.

Rose immediately opened the window. Coincidentally, she lived on the third floor so she could see the sky.

“Hi, I'm here!” greeted Liuz from the sky.

A glowing flying saucer was in the sky above Rose's room.

“UFOs!” she said surprised.

Rose, who was shocked, immediately closed her eyes when a loud sound and light like lightning flashed and suddenly her eyes rose into the sky.

"What's this? Put me down, Alien!” shouted Rose, who just realized that Liuz Raphael had kidnapped her.
