CHAPTER TWO.
(OWEN’S POV)
I watched as she held the side of her tummy tightly but my brain wasn’t processing anything at the moment as I was being lashed out on social media for having affairs with a married woman and also my alpha’s daughter at that. My brain went blank, even my wolf wasn’t forthcoming in reasoning with me at the moment until she fell into bed. I moved closer to her to check if she was still breathing, but she wasn’t.
I hurriedly put on a shirt and a pair of trousers while wrapping the bed spread on her body before rushing out of the room. Hate comments were passed to me as I raced out of the pack house towards where my car was packed. I got into the driver's seat and then zoomed off over the dust right into the air as my tire screeched on the dusty floor. I arrived at the hospital like a crazy man. I was at the moment beckoning the nurses to hurriedly attend to her instead of sitting lazily around gossiping about what is actually none of their business.
“Will you all get your butts off that seat and fucking attend to her if you don’t want your heads rolling on the floor this instant” I threatened them in a loud voice, not caring about the nuisance I was constituting at the hospital at that moment, for all I cared was she must be alive without a scratch. They all scrambled off bumping into each other, but I cared less as I kept on pacing in the reception room while waiting for the doctor to come out. My mind wasn’t at rest as it raced to the scandal that’s still going on, but first, she must be saved.
I know some of them already had an idea or might have even taken pictures of us, because that’s all-what social media is all about. After what seemed like eternity, the doctor and nurses finally trooped out of her ward and I rushed over to them to ask how she’s doing… “How’s she doing?” I asked, twitching my nose as I got a whiff of a vanilla scent which I decided to ignore.
“We are glad to inform you that she’s doing all right, just shock nothing else” the doctor said, passing some information to the nurses behind while I found my way into the room to check up on her.
“Hey, are you good?” I asked casually, trying to clear the awkwardness in the air.
“What am I here?” she asked me, checking out the drips connected to her veins.
“Uhm, you blacked out while we were in the room, so I brought you down here” I explained carefully, trying to sound as simple as ever.
“You did what!!!” she asked me with widened eyes which rather took me aback, as I didn’t get why she had shouted and sounded so furious about me taking her to the hospital. I tried to talk but was cut short by a deadly glare from her.
“Why do you like making things so hard for me?” she asked frustratedly, plunging out the needle that was allocated to her vein. I tried running after her to stop her from going, but she wouldn’t listen, and I didn’t want to give the onlookers the satisfaction they wanted, so I buzzed off peacefully letting her be while zooming off to the hotel where I was lodged with my dad.
THE HOTEL ROOM
I tipped toed silently in the hotel room to avoid waking my sleeping dad up when a glass cup crashed violently on the wall almost close which made me turn back sharply with my heart almost in my mouth.
“But dad, what's that for?” I screamed at him with a wave of my hand. “That question should be directed to you” he replied back, burning with fury.
I guess he had seen the scandal going on around the internet and that got him so furious. “I never knew about anything that happened, I swear,” I said to him, trying so hard to defend myself, which I knew would surely fall on a deaf ears, of course, but I wasn’t the type to give up.
“You didn’t know about what happened?” he asked me. Which I nodded my head in response, hoping I’d convince him to believe me in this. “Nonsense” he screamed, throwing away all the glass works which were placed at the side of the bed, all crashing to the floor. “How many times do I have to tell you to let go of your feelings for her that she can’t be yours?” he asked, adding salt to my wounds. I could feel my blood pressure going higher than normal and my chest was heaving up and down in a rhythmic way which sounded so high in my head. I hate to be reminded of my losing game and my father wouldn’t let my scars heal up before rubbing them right in my face.
“What do I need to do or tell you before you believe me that all this wasn’t my doing?” I yelled at him, punching the wall frustratedly. “But coming down here was all your idea, isn’t it?” he fired at me.
I realized I couldn’t win in this argument, so I kept mute and let him rant on and when I saw an opportunity to escape, I left the room for a bar to at least have my head cleared out and think of a way to get out of all this scandal. A few days later, we went back to our pack as Meliora’s husband and also, Alpha said he couldn’t continue with the pack’s treaty again, which was quite understandable.
