CHAPTER THREE.

(MELIORA’S POV)

I staggered out of the hospital back to the pack house; I could hear hate comments and all that but none of them dared come to say that right to my face so I kept my head high and pretended nothing ever happened as I walked to my room. I haven’t seen Zoe around ever since that incident so as Arthur but I guessed his feelings were hurt. I sat under the cold shower as water trickled down my eyes; I watched as my whole life hung on just a tiny little thread which doesn’t even guarantee that it won’t cut and I couldn’t help sobbing silently under the shower.

“Why must mine be different?” I asked Kaira my wolf as she came out of the back of my mind to comfort me.

“Liora everything will be fine” she assured me with a soothing voice but that was actually less convincing because I had reached my dead end. The internet where I find solace no longer welcomes me as if my status shows active, I will be sun dried by those people’s comments and my pack members aren’t helping matters at all. They all are hiding the stone they want to cast on because the alpha hasn’t talked yet and they wouldn’t want to go down with me.

“Why must my own happiness never last long like normal people when I was born like them?” I asked weeping loudly but the splashing of water on the ground which makes my voice barely unheard outside.

It's been three whole days that I’ve locked myself in the room and haven't left there nor allow any maids to come and attend to my needs nor have I tasted anything. My whole life has turned miserable within a twinkle of an eye. I heard a knock on my door but chose to ignore it as I wasn’t ready to entertain any visitor of any such, so I left them to keep knocking.

“Luna, please open up” I heard a masculine voice at the door but still I chose not to answer not because I couldn’t but I don’t have strength in me to do so any more. After like thirty to forty minutes the footstep from my door left sliding an envelope under the door. I strode gently towards the door to pick the letter up but the content was empty which baffles me.

I barely settled down when the door knob to my room twisted open and Arthur came inside with his gracile aura that makes him so unique. His scent filled up the room in no time and also my nostrils. We stared at each other for like a second before he finally broke the silence between us.

“Come out and eat” he said to me curtly before turning back.

“I didn’t do it” I said to him, making him halt his steps. He turned back to me with an expressionless face…

“Come to dinner and eat and we will talk about it later,” he said. I rushed to take his hands in mine before adding sharply … “Do you believe me?” I asked him hoping his answer would be yes or maybe no so I can know where I actually stand in his life presently but he gently removed his hand from mine and walked away without sparing me a single glance or anything.

I fell on butts with another round of tears flowing down to cheeks as I watched his back view. His single was as if my heart was pierced by a sharp mouthed arrow; I held onto my chest tightly as I choked on my tears while the maid rushed to pat my back to ease the pains.

I got dolled up by the maid as if there was an occasion or probably an event was happening that I was even told to put on my Luna crown to grace them with my presence. I just allowed them to keep on doing what they know best without interrupting them and I’m glad none of them spoke a word to me. I guess they could see a lot was going on in that little head of mine and they knew better than to break into my thoughts as I need time to think things through and the empty letter being sent to me is a mystery to me that I can’t seem to ravel out.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t hear the maids announce that they were done with whatever they were doing with my hair and face. I turned to face the mirror to admire myself but I wasn’t in the mood because the person I was seeing in the mirror was a lost soul, nothing else or more.

I walked out of the room striding carefully around the hallway to the dining room where I saw all the elders and Authur all seated waiting patiently for me.

“Let all rise to welcome the Luna” the butler announced to all seated.

I walked to my seat which is situated beside the throne seat. The smell of the foods being served on the table nauseates me but I had to keep it together because this doesn’t look like any ordinary lunch for all the elders to be present. I looked at their faces to read their expressions but I couldn’t get through as their faces didn’t carry any expressions. I kept on playing with my food as I watched them chat heartily, they kept on talking as if I didn't exist in their midst or I wasn’t seen.

I stood to my feet to leave since my presence wasn’t noticed but was stopped by an uproar. “Get your ass seated right into that seat immediately” Aurthur commanded with an icy voice.
