CHAPTER FIVE.
I fidgeted with my fingers throughout the drive home. I watched the trees as we passed through my pack right to the pack house where the pack hospital is located.
“We've arrived,” the driver announced to me, jolting me out of my thoughts.
I looked through the window, sighed deeply before getting down. I walked hastily to my father's ward while all the nurses bowed down to me in respect. Well, I don’t care about that for now as that’s none of my business.
“Father,” I called out immediately as I entered his ward. He tried to raise his hand to gesture towards me but I stopped him while rushing towards him.
“Just keep cool, everything will be fine” I said to him wiping the tears that threatened to fall from my face.
“It’s not true, right?” I heard him whisper softly.
” You know me father, I love my husband” I replied to him curtly to stop him from talking.
I sat on the chair next to him and gently folded his palm in mine, I winced as his palms felt cold against mine.
“Aww my stomach hurt a lot” he whispered very lowly so as not to let me know but I could still hear him properly.
“Father don’t say anything again, trust me you are going to be fine” I reassured him, holding back my tears, not to upset him or make him feel bad.
“You also think I’m pathetic?” he asked me with a teary eye which causes tears to roll down my cheeks. The tears came crashing down like a river whose bank had been blocked and got through. I hurriedly hid my face away from him so as not to see me crying.
He started coughing profusely, I gave him water thinking it was a normal thing but it agitated the whole thing and I rushed out to call on the doctor but I came crashing on something hard. Before I could comprehend what’s happening, my eyes felt so dizzy and my visions got so blurry that I felt my soul gradually leaving my body. I could hear my name being called from a very far place but my body felt way too numb to react to anything.
THREE HOURS LATER
I regained consciousness, my senses were slowly crawling back as I felt a dull ache pulsating in my head. The sterile smell of antiseptic filled the air, and the soft hum of medical equipment surrounds me; as I blinked away the grogginess, I realized my head was literally banging and everything came crashing back and stimulating right into my brain.
“Father,” I called out in horror, unclasping whatever had been inserted into my vein while racing to his ward. I raced on bare feet as if my life depended on it, though technically my life certainly depended on it. I got to his ward and my fears increased as no one was occupying it at the moment. The tears I’ve been holding came crashing down, my heart beat increasing its pace and pumping out my blood. I held my chest painfully as the pains I felt there increased simultaneously……
“Are you okay?” I heard someone call out to me and for a second, I almost lost all my senses at the moment.
“This isn’t a time to check someone out” my wolf snapped at me which brought me out of my trance immediately.
“Hmm I’m good, thanks” I said to him, taking his hand as he helped me up.
I looked up to his hazel eyes when an elderly man came…
“My lord please go back to your ward; the doctor said you need to rest” the man said to the guy whose hand is still in mine.
I hurriedly excuse myself while thanking him as I walked to the doctor’s office to make enquiries on my father’s whereabouts when a call came into my phone which I literally forgot was in my pocket all this while. I checked the caller id and it was an unknown number which I decided to ignore but then the call came in again which made me so furious.
“Who the hell is this?” I yelled out immediately I picked the call but the other end was dead.
“I’m pretty busy….” I was trying to say something when a hoarse voice cut me short.
“If you want to see your father alive, get to the address on your screen within thirty minutes, if you are one second late, I will blow up this entire space”. The caller said to me and immediately a message popped into my phone.
Without thinking twice, I raced out of the hospital like a mad woman, flagging down a taxi who took me to the address. The road traffic was pretty hectic and all I could do was pray to the moon goddess to spare my father.
“I can’t go beyond this ma’am” the taxi driver pulled up on a closed narrow road. I thanked him before making use of my legs again as I put them into action.
The alley was full of abandoned and uncompleted buildings. I was trying to locate the one with the landmark when my phone rang again and this time it was a video call which I picked up immediately.
“Father” I called out seeing how badly he was hurt by those maniacs.
Tears streamed down my face as I watched my father struggle for this life ….
“Baaaaa” a building nearby where I was standing exploded which threw me off balance and the connection also went out.
“Nooooooooo” I screamed out when I felt an iron rod hit me behind and a needle pierce into my neck, I could feel my tongue twisting, choking me up as I gasped to breath but it was too late. The poison took effect immediately all over my body, I felt my whole body numb as my soul drifted away from me. I fell to the ground helplessly and tears of pain escaped through my closed eyes.
