Chapter 6 Cozying Up to the Rich

Natalie froze, about to explain herself, when Alice's voice pierced the air. "She's just a servant in our house. Saved up some money and used my photo to get plastic surgery. No way she could ever be a Cullen."

Alice shot Natalie a scathing look. "The kitchen's busy. Get back to work!"

Every time Alice belittled her, Natalie felt humiliated. But this time, for some reason, she didn't want Adrian to look down on her.

With a resigned sigh, she unclenched her fists and headed back into the mansion.

Behind her, she could faintly hear Alice's voice. "Adrian, this servant is always trying to cozy up to rich people. My parents are just too kind to kick her out."

Daniel's face was a mix of amusement and irritation as he scoffed, "Ms. Cullen, you might have a misunderstanding about plastic surgery. Your nose looks more like it's been worked on."

"Daniel, that's enough," Adrian scolded softly, though his tone lacked any real reprimand.

Daniel shrugged and walked into the mansion first.

Alice was trembling with rage. That wretched Natalie! Now even Daniel was defending her. She had to get rid of Natalie. That bitch dared to show up in front of Adrian without a mask! Luckily, Alice had arrived in time. If Adrian had taken a closer look, she wouldn't have let Natalie off so easily.

Because of this incident, Alice noticed Daniel's cold attitude towards her and decided to focus on winning over Rachel instead. If she wanted to marry into the Howard family, she needed to win their favor. Smiling, she handed Rachel a plate of sliced fruit, saying, "Rachel, try this melon. It's specially sourced, quite rare, and only available this season."

"I don't like fruit," Rachel huffed, her disdain almost palpable.

She couldn't stand this woman's fake demeanor.

But Alice pretended not to notice Rachel's resistance and offered some nuts instead. "How about trying these nuts?"

"If I want some, I'll get them myself. I have hands, you know," Rachel snapped before Alice could finish.

Alice's hand froze mid-air, and her face was a picture of helplessness. "I'm sorry," she whispered, tears welling up.

The room fell silent. Avery, seeing her daughter being mistreated, felt the urge to speak up but held back because it was Rachel. She cleared her throat and glanced at Adrian.

Adrian calmly set down his coffee cup and said coolly to Rachel, "If you don't want to sit here, then leave."

Rachel stood up in a huff and stormed out. She was already bored and wanted to leave anyway. Just then, Natalie came in with a kettle to refill the coffee. She didn't notice Rachel until it was too late, and they collided.

Rachel let out a scream.

Natalie bit her lip, clutching the kettle tightly as most of the hot water spilled onto her wrist.

She gasped in pain, her vision going black for a moment.

Renee rushed over, scolding Natalie, "Natalie! I swear, you're a walking disaster. What if you'd actually burned Rachel?"

Rachel quickly interjected, "I'm fine."

She hadn't been splashed much, just startled. While Natalie had taken the worst of it, her wrist turning a bright red.
