Chapter 4: Confrontations

"Hey there cleaner. Do you mind coming over to clean my butts for me too?" They all burst out in laughter.

My head hung low as I just went down on my waist to picked up the trash they had intentionally thrown on the floor for me to pick up.

"Doesn't she speak? I've never heard her talk before." One of them added as I made the move to go throw the trash away.

I was stopped from going outside by someone's hand on my wrist, making all the trash in my hand go back to the floor once again.

"Talk, let's hear you talk." The guy who was holding my hand said.

I gritted my teeth in anger and decided to make use of the opportunity to talk like he said I should.

"Since y'all want to hear my voice, then fine. Y'all are just insolent than courageous who feel like they are above everyone when in reality all you have is this job. Other than that, every other aspect of your lives is trash like you just described mine!" I said in a really low voice that they wouldn't have heard me if not for how quiet the office room was.

The deadness in the room was broken with the sound of laughter that came from one of them.

"She's definitely not talking to us." She laughed, looking like what I just said was just outrightly funny.

"You really love my voice so much that you want to hear it that badly?" I laughed.

"And yes, I was referring to you all." I confirmed again.

Anger crossed their faces, but before any one of them could say a word, they looked behind me with horror written on their faces.

I was lost as to what they saw till that musky scent that had become awfully familiar now filtered into my nostrils. Only Mr Vincent has that scent.

I turned around eventually and my guess was right, he was the one and he's standing right outside the door.

"Good afternoon Mr-" He cut them off.

"Meet me in my office." He said, I wasn't sure if he was talking to me but he was looking at me.

He walked away immediately after saying that.

"Did I just hear him talk? Like, I've only heard him talk once since I've been working here for three years! And please, tell me he was talking to me." The most sophisticated of them said.

She looked like she was going to pass out in excitement from how hard she was smiling.

"Unfortunately, he wasn't talking to you. He was talking to her." The guy who was holding my wrist said, grimacing.

I turned around and left the office room with their gazes burning behind me.

"What could he want to say?" I questioned myself.

After that day in his office, I did everything possible to avoid him at all costs.

I'd go to his office very early that I knew he would be a bit late and its been two weeks after that.

Hearing him say he wants to see me now made me wonder what he wants so say.

Did he finally come to the conclusion of firing me for eavesdropping on him?

The secretary allowed me enter the moment I got there.

"You called for me, sir." I said the moment I entered his office.

"Have your seat." He ordered.

This is surely a dream, but I sat down anyways. I wouldn't say I was anxious about what he had to say, but I was wondering what it could be.

It's not everyday you see the CEO of Vin enterprise call you into his office.

"Right, I called you here to kind of appreciate your advise the other day."

Yep, definitely a dream. Because there's no way he's thanking me for that when he was the one who sent me out of his office that day.

He must have seen the gobsmacked look on my face, I saw the corner of his lips lift up in a smirk but it was gone almost as soon as it came.

"I took the advice and it turned out to be right, I'm now currently working on it and it's blooming." He explained.

Is he actually talking to me? That way? I've heard and read different things about him for years now and from what I've seen since I started working here, I knew everything speculating about him is true.

"You're welcome." Those two words were rushed out, even my voice sounded so foreign in my ears.

"Yeah, that's all." He said.

I stood up and was about to leave his office when I was stopped by the office door swinging open.

It almost hit my face if not that I swerved it really well.

"Hey baby." Was the words that came out of the mouth of the person's mouth.

It was a woman and she looked so beautiful she could pass for a model. She minced over in a flirty manner to where Vincent was behind the table with a huge smile on her face.

"What are you doing here Valerie?" I heard Vincent said, a sound that looked too much like a growl following it.

I just opened the door and went out after remembering what happened the day I tried to eavesdrop on him.

I sighed as I approached the floor where I was before I was called by Vincent to his office. I have no choice because that's practically where my own work place is too.

"What did he say to you? Did he ask of me? Oh my goodness! He must be so fascinated by me to not be able to talk to me directly."

I resisted the urge to laugh at how desperate she was. People really lose their mind all in the name of love with other people they barely know?

"No he didn't." Was my reply.

The happy look on her face dwinded into a frown. "You're lying."

"Oh trust me, I'm not you. I don't lie over petty things like that."I said.

She raised up her hand, but she suddenly stopped it, a smirk came up on her face instead.

"Seems like someone is here to see you."

It's none other than Valerie and if looks could kill, I'd be six feet under right now with how she was glaring at me.
