Chapter 6: Wedding

She couldn't believe her ears when I spoke, but instead of getting angry, she was overjoyed to hear from me.

"Are you serious, my dear?" she asked, her disbelief evident in her voice.

"Yes, mom, I really mean it," I replied, my words stumbling out.

"Oh, wow! That's amazing!" she exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face, clearly taken aback by what I had just said.

"I was completely shocked by your words, Prim. I had no idea you had a boyfriend, let alone that you were getting married," she said, still in disbelief.

"But maybe I should be happy for you. Starting a family and finding happiness is what matters most, and if that's what you've found, then I'll be the first one to celebrate with you," she gently expressed, her words filled with warmth and love.

"I thought you would be angry, Mom," I confessed.

She simply smiled at me and tenderly caressed my back. The happiness radiating from her face was priceless, and every time I saw my mother happy, it filled my heart with joy.

A few days later, Diego's parents invited us to a grand party. I was even given a beautiful dress, making me feel like the luckiest woman in the world.

"You look absolutely stunning, my daughter," she praised.

As we arrived at the magnificent mansion, we were greeted by a multitude of guests. The entire garden was adorned with extravagant decorations and dazzling lights. Diego's parents warmly welcomed us, and my mother reciprocated their greetings. My eyes scanned the crowd, searching for Diego, as I had never laid eyes on him before.

"Um, where is Diego, Mom?" I inquired.

His mother sweetly smiled at me and gestured towards the stage. I was left speechless when I saw Diego standing there. He was dressed in a dark purple tuxedo with a black long-sleeve shirt underneath. His beauty and elegance were accentuated by his attire. Oh my God! My fiancé is incredibly handsome.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to meet my soon-to-be Mrs. Alfonzo, Prima Montero," he announced to the crowd.

I was taken aback by his words. I never expected him to introduce me as his fiancé in front of so many people.

He extended an invitation for me to accompany him to the front. The emotions swirling within me at that moment were indescribable. My heart raced as he gently held my hand and pressed a tender kiss upon it. Was it all real? Could what he showed me truly be genuine?

Time passed, and the day of our wedding arrived. Without a second thought, I agreed to marry him, for I had witnessed the gradual transformation in his demeanor. He had become kinder towards me, even though he often remained silent when it was just the two of us.

Now, I find myself standing in front of the church, eagerly awaiting the opening of its doors. Taking a deep breath, I struggle to put into words the overwhelming emotions coursing through me. It is a mixture of joy and excitement, as I am about to embark on the journey of marriage. My mother shares in my elation, her happiness radiating from her.

As I walk down the aisle, my gaze fixed upon Diego, a smile graces my lips. Despite the seriousness etched upon his face, he remains undeniably handsome. I never imagined that a single night's mistake could lead to something so right.

Drawing closer to him, he extends his hand, offering me support. I take my seat upon the chair, and he settles beside me. A silence envelops us as we face the priest.

The ceremony commences, and we exchange heartfelt vows and rings. This is the most enchanting day of my life, filled with romance and love.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," declares the priest.

The crowd rises to their feet, applauding with joy. Overwhelmed by the emotions, tears stream down my face. Yet, he remains solemn.

"You may now kiss the bride," the priest announces once more.

Our eyes meet, his gaze fixed upon me with utmost seriousness, and he leans in to kiss me. Though it lasts only a fleeting moment, I can feel the warmth of his lips, leaving an indelible impression upon my heart.

After our wedding ceremony, we exited the church, stepping into the waiting Limousine. As we sat side by side, a heavy silence hung in the air, enveloping us both.

Upon arriving at a luxurious hotel resort, he gracefully stepped out of the car and opened the door for me, extending his hand. I gratefully accepted his gesture, feeling a glimmer of hope amidst the silence.

Entering the resort, we were warmly greeted by the guests, their smiles reflecting the beauty of the surroundings adorned with twinkling lights. In that moment, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy, knowing that this day would forever hold a special place in my heart.

Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a tumultuous journey with him.

Following our marriage, his treatment towards me took a turn for the worse. Our once warm relationship turned icy, and he began to subject me to frequent abuse, even during my pregnancy.

"Prima!" his voice boomed, filled with anger.

His outbursts were nothing new to me. Each day, he would speak ill of me, but I chose to ignore his hurtful words, determined to shield our unborn child from the negativity.

"What is this?! What have you done to my shirts?!" he shouted, his rage evident.

"I didn't mean to, Diego. The iron suddenly overheated, causing a small burn," I explained, my voice filled with remorse.

"Do you have any idea how much those clothes cost?!" he bellowed.

"I truly didn't mean it. I'm so sorry," I pleaded.

His face contorted with anger, and he forcefully threw his clothes down, cursing under his breath.

"Foolish woman!" he spat.

With a storm of emotions, he stormed out of the room, leaving me alone in the wake of his fury. Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. Would he continue to hurt me like this? Would he continue to insult me? Why was it so effortless for him to inflict pain upon me, without any desire to understand or accept my explanations?
