Chapter 6 It Was That Woman's Voice

Thinking the girl's parents must be losing their minds, Riley had Harper grab some food for the kids. She pulled out her phone, ready to make the call.

Meanwhile, at the Wilder Villa, Donovan stormed in, his voice deep and tense. "Has Finley come back yet?"

Chase shook his head, looking worried. "Mr. Wilder, we've searched everywhere nearby, but there's still no sign of Ms. Wilder."

As soon as he finished, he felt a chill from Donovan, thinking, 'We've been searching for hours with no news. Could something really have happened? She's just a kid. Where could she have gone? Usually, we find her quickly. But today, after all this time, still nothing!'

"Where's Hollis?" Donovan's voice was icy, his face dark. The temperature seemed to drop instantly as he spoke.

Just then, a woman with perfect makeup and a luxurious coat rushed in. "Donovan, have you found Finley?" Her delicate face showed signs of worry and urgency.

This was Hollis, the woman Donovan had once planed to marry.

"Did you say something to Finley? Why else would she run away?" Donovan's gaze bore into Hollis, as if he wanted to tear her apart.

Hollis nervously pinched the hem of her clothes, trying to stay composed. "Donovan, how can you doubt me? Haven't you seen how I've cared for Finley all these years?" Her eyes welled with tears. "I can't believe you think of me this way. I..."

Feeling irritated by her act, Donovan snapped, "Enough!" He couldn't stand women crying.

Hollis quickly composed herself, a flash of something sinister in her eyes. 'Damn little mute,' she cursed.

That afternoon, Hollis had told Finley that she and Donovan would give her a cute sibling once they married. When Finley's face fell, Hollis dismissed it, thinking the mute kid couldn't complain to Donovan. She never imagined Finley would run away, almost making Donovan suspect her. 'Damn it, it'd be easier if she just died out there and saved me the trouble,' Hollis thought.

Donovan turned to Paxton and said in a deep voice, "Send more people, and search the entire city. Don't leave any corner unchecked." After speaking, he seemed to think of something else and added, "By the way, have there been any updates from the police?"

Paxton replied respectfully, bowing his head, "Mr. Wilder, there's no news yet, but..."

He paused, and Donovan coldly prompted, "Speak!"

"I suspect Miss Wilder might have been kidnapped," Paxton voiced his concern.

Donovan's heart sank. With only one cherished daughter, he couldn't bear the thought of her suffering. Given their high social standing, the Wilder family was a prime target for kidnappers seeking a hefty ransom.

Donovan fell silent for a few seconds, a hint of murder in his eyes. His thin lips parted slightly as he spoke, "Investigate thoroughly. If I find out who did this, I won't let them off!"

Anyone who dared to touch Donovan's daughter must have a death wish. They'd better not let him catch them, or they'll face the full consequences.

Paxton nodded in agreement. Just then, Donovan's phone rang. He glanced at it; it was an unknown number. He didn't initially want to answer, but a sense of foreboding made him press the call button.

Then a familiar woman's voice came through, "Hello!"

Upon hearing this, Donovan's eyes narrowed; the voice sounded exactly like Riley's!
