Chapter 4 Go to Hell to Find My Daddy

Alison felt her mind go blank as she stomped her foot in frustration.

"This is nuts! Where did this wild kid come from?"

Frederick, who had been waiting in the car, finally couldn't sit still. He was here to pick up Alison, but now he had no idea what kind of mess she had gotten into.

As soon as Frederick stepped out of the car, the vehicle collapsed behind him. He stood there, stunned, staring at the wreckage and the wheels rolling away. It felt like a dream.

'How could a kid who looked no older than five do this?'

Justin wiped his nose with a smug look and raised an eyebrow at Alison.

"You ugly creep, this is it after you bullied my brother."

"I'm not one to hold grudges, so I'll let you off this time."

With that, he turned to run, but something grabbed him by the back of his neck, lifting him off the ground.

"What are you doing? Let me go!"

Frederick's eyes were cold. "Such arrogance at such a young age?"

Justin finally noticed Frederick and was taken aback. 'The man looked so much like Hugo and Paul. Could he be our dad?' The thought crossed Justin's mind, but he quickly dismissed it. 'Mom had said our dad died young. This man just happened to look like him.'

Frederick, too, was momentarily stunned when he saw Justin. There was an indescribable feeling, and the boy looked so much like his son, Dennis.

Alison shouted, "This kind of ill-mannered kid should be taken to the police. Who knows what trouble he'll cause when he grows up!"

Justin retorted, "You're the one with no manners! You're an old woman bullying my little brother. Shame on you!"

Alison was furious. She hated being called old and ugly.

Frederick frowned and asked Alison, "Why did he say you bullied his brother?"

A flicker of guilt crossed Alison's eyes, but she replied confidently, "Kids from poor families lie all the time. I've never even seen his brother. He's probably trying to scam us, maybe even coached by an adult!"

Frederick turned to the boy. "Where are your parents?"

At the mention of his parents, Justin's arrogance faded. He pursed his lips, refusing to speak. It wasn't that he feared his mom would punish him; he just didn't want her to worry.

"A real man takes responsibility for his actions!"

Justin's determined look made Frederick pause. He glanced at the wrecked car, feeling something was off. 'How could a child have such destructive power?' He even wondered if the boy had some kind of weapon.

When he came to, he realized he was holding only a brown jacket. The boy had slipped away.

Justin made a face at Frederick. "If you want to find my parents, go to hell and ask my dad!"

With that, he ran off.

Alison fumed, "Frederick, are you just going to let him go? What kind of parents raise such a brat? We should throw the whole family in jail!"

Frederick ignored her and made a phone call. His voice was low and serious.

"Investigate that kid. Find his parents. Also, figure out how the car fell apart in minutes."

After hanging up, Frederick stared in the direction Justin had run. 'Why did the boy feel so familiar?'

Justin ran quickly to the train station. He had to get back before his mom noticed, or she'd worry.

At the station, Hugo was gently cleaning Paul's wounds with an alcohol swab. Paul's legs and arms were bruised, and Hugo's heart ached for his little brother.

"Does it still hurt?" Hugo asked softly.

Paul's big, teary eyes were red, and he bit his lip, trying to hold back his tears.

"It doesn't hurt anymore, Hugo," Paul said in his babyish voice.

Hugo, knowing Justin's temper, was sure his brother had gone to confront the woman. Justin never backed down, and if he could stand up for Paul, Hugo was all for it.

In his office, Frederick sat at his desk, going through documents. He was a workaholic with a sharp business mind. He had his eye on this area for a new project, so after dropping Alison off, he went straight back to work.

A knock on the door made him look up. "Come in."

Elliot entered with a stack of papers. "Mr. Valdemar, we've got some information. The kid comes from a modest background. No father lives in a rural area with two brothers about the same age."

Frederick raised an eyebrow. "What about the car? Any findings?"

The car falling apart in minutes couldn't have been the work of a child. Someone must have tampered with it.

"It was caused by a micro-explosive. The car hadn't been tampered with beforehand."
