Chapter 4 A Thief?

They were whispering, yet Noah and Lisa heard them still.

Noah smiled, not giving a damn at all. Why would he? He was loaded.

Lisa, however, grew flushed. Noah was her husband, and she knew exactly how much money he had.

She thought, 'I know Noah has no more than a couple hundred bucks. On no ground could he pay for things from Tiffany & Co. At first glance, I knew what was inside was counterfeit.

'But so what?

'I'm happy to have any gift from him.'

"Thanks, Noah!"

Lisa's face was radiant as she took the gift, and the smile on her face was genuine.

Noah smiled, too. He thought, 'I'm the luckiest man on Earth with Lisa being my wife.'

"Lisa, don't be so naive!"

Evelyn couldn't bear it anymore. She walked over to Lisa and snapped, "Apparently, it's fake! He's trying to win your heart with fake!

"Wake up, Lisa! Can't you see? He doesn't have any money and is basically a liar! Divorce him! You deserve so much better!"

"So what if it's fake?" Lisa raised her head. "It's still a gift, right? Whatever from Noah makes me happy!

"Besides, you don't get to judge him. He's my husband." Her eyes turned slightly cold. "Evelyn, say the word 'divorce' one more time, and I'll leave right away. We'll no longer be friends!"

She sounded nothing but firm.

Furious, Evelyn gritted her teeth. Little did she expect that Lisa would take the side of Noah, a lying pauper.

She sighed, "Lisa, you're so naive. I know you married him because he saved your life.

"But you should never marry someone out of gratefulness. You're wasting your time with him..."

She paused and sighed again, not being able to continue.

"He saved her life?"

The others present finally knew why Lisa married Noah.

They thought, 'How lucky Noah is to marry her!'

At the same time, Noah frowned, looking at Evelyn. "Counterfeit? What makes you say that?"

Evelyn was stunned for a second and then looked back at him, sneering, "So, you can talk. I thought you were too embarrassed to say anything after being exposed. Well, I guess you have some guts after all."

"Come on, Noah. Even the cheapest Tiffany & Co. jewelry costs at least 10 thousand dollars. I've got several sets back at home. And you? I don't think you have more than a thousand dollars on you, right? You really think we believe that you can afford that?

"Tell me. If it's not fake, what is it?" she questioned coldly.

Everyone looked at Noah, wondering how he was gonna defend himself.

Not bothering to explain, Noah smiled, "Open it yourself."

"I will!"

Evelyn's eyes lit up as she grabbed the box and opened it expertly.

"Noah..." Lisa looked at Noah nervously, her palms sweaty.

She thought, 'I don't mind if it's fake or not. The important thing is Noah wants me to be happy. But ... I don't want him to get exposed in front of so many people.'

However, she noticed that Noah looked calm and composed. He didn't seem worried at all.

Somehow, the look in his eyes reassured her.

"Hey, let's take a look, too!" The others gathered.

Evelyn smiled as she opened the box, thinking, 'I'll expose Noah today. After that, no matter how much Lisa loves him, she'll hold doubts subconsciously. Might as well let the seed grow. With my persuasion and the great pressure she's facing, I'm sure she'll divorce him sooner or later! After all, human nature is too fragile to be tested. Lisa, I'm looking out for you. You're way out of Noah's league. You'll thank me when you marry someone else who's way more well-off than Noah.'

In the next second, she opened the box, and everyone saw what was inside.

The earrings were delicate and exquisite, with a vivid pattern.

The pure-white platinum necklace was exquisitely crafted, modest luxury.

The bracelet was smooth and polished, making whoever wore it charming.

And the blue diamond ring in the middle caught their eyes.

It was cut neatly, each side shining in the light, noble and elegant like an angel's tear. No one could look away.

The whole office fell silent immediately.

After a while, someone gasped.

"It's from Tiffany & Co. indeed, right?"

Those working at Pinnacle Wealth Management had seen the world, and therefore they could tell at once that the jewelry wasn't fake.

Evelyn was stunned, too.

In fact, she had seen the ring a couple of days ago in the store. She wanted to buy it back then.

But it cost 50 thousand dollars, as it was made of blue diamond and was cut with top-of-line technology from the City of Technology.

She could afford it, but she didn't think it was necessary to buy it.

Suddenly, she felt something off, thinking, 'Noah is broke. How could he pay for that? I'm guessing the set of jewelry is at least 60 thousand dollars.

'Even Lisa doesn't have that much money after years of working. And Noah does? No way!

'Maybe...'

Evelyn's heart skipped a beat, and she turned serious at the thought of that. She closed the box and looked at Noah.

With a cold look, she hissed, "Noah, go ahead if you wanna be a thief.

"But I do have one request. Divorce Lisa before you're behind bars!

"No one cares if you're in jail or not. Just don't drag Lisa down with you!"

In her mind, Noah could never afford such valuable jewelry.

The only explanation for him showing up with authentic jewelry from Tiffany & Co. would be he stole them.

Her words enlightened Lisa's colleagues. They thought, 'Ms. Crowe is right! The answer is so simple. Noah stole the jewelry!'

"He's actually a thief?"

"Cops may have to get involved here. This is against the law! He's gonna be put in jail!"

"The jewelry is worth at least 60 thousand dollars. He'll be put away for long. 20 years, probably!"

"Well, Lisa should divorce him before that, or her life would be ruined. No one wants a husband who's in jail, right?"

"I bet he stole the jewelry!"

Noah heard what the people were saying, but he didn't refute them right away. He had the jewelry's certification and the purchase receipt; all he needed to do was to present the receipt, and he could shut everyone up.

However, Noah didn't plan to do that.

Evelyn had always looked down on him, often speaking ill of him to Lisa and even pushed Lisa to divorce him. For such a despicable person, Noah was determined to teach her a lesson, to make her pay for her foolishness.

Noah would let Evelyn falsely accuse him first, and then he would produce evidence, exposing Evelyn's slander, and show Lisa Evelyn's vile heart.

Therefore, the more Evelyn spoke, the more advantageous it was for Noah.
