Chapter 8 ICU

Sarah immediately turned her gaze to Noah, her voice cold and mocking, "You, Noah, have married into the Wilson Family, my father is now your father! Now that my dad is critically ill, it's time for you to show your filial piety, and you just disregard whether he lives or dies? Are you even human?"

"Sarah..." Lisa's face turned bad with anger at Sarah's words.

Larry, on the other hand, stood by with a playful smile, the corners of his mouth curved in amusement.

"But look at Larry, so generous, spending 200,000 dollars without blinking an eye!"

"The difference between the two sons-in-law, how can it be so big!"

"Getting Noah to give 100,000 dollars? This loser, it would be surprising if he could even come up with 10,000 dollars!"

"Larry is wealthy; how can this good-for-nothing Noah compare with Larry?"

The relatives began their discussions anew.

"Honey, let's step outside for a moment." Lisa reached out her hand and pulled Noah out of the ward.

As soon as they left the ward, Lisa couldn't hold back any longer, she burst into loud sobs.

"Why does my sister's family have to treat us like this!" Her tears flowed freely, "Have they forgotten, when they had no money, I would give them money every month?"

"Now that they're well-off, they target and make life difficult for us, why?"

Lisa cried even harder, her delicate body shaking.

Noah sighed deeply; perhaps some people just can’t bear to see others live better, that’s why they keep making things difficult.

"Why do they act like we're so easy to bully? Talking about filial piety, such hypocrisy!"

Lisa suddenly stopped crying, she looked up with determined eyes at Noah, "Go home now, return those jewelry, use the money from the returns to pay for the ICU's ward fee!"

"So much for filial piety, right? Well, let's pay for Dad's hospitalization ourselves. We won't let my sister pay a cent!"

Noah was not surprised; he knew that Lisa was a woman who was soft on the outside but tough on the inside.

"There's no need for that." Noah smiled and said, "I have 100,000 dollars on me right now. I'll transfer it to you, and you give it to Larry. Since they're so eager to pay the bulk of it, let them, there's no need to argue with them."

Noah, in his current state, didn't have to fight over a few hundred thousand dollars with Larry for superiority.

"What?" Lisa was stunned, "Why do you have so much money on you?"

"I won the 500,000 dollars lottery, and the jewelry altogether was only worth 400,000 dollars, so naturally, I still have 100,000 dollars left."

"I see." Lisa, instantly understanding, followed up, "Don't transfer those 100,000 dollars to me, you give it to Larry."

"He looks down on you, thinking you can't take out 100,000 dollars, show him with the money!"

Noah nodded, "Hon, you go back inside, I'll go to the restroom."

"Okay."

Noah went to the restroom and took out his phone to call Xavier.

"Hello, Young Master." Xavier's voice came through the phone.

"Do something for me." Noah said directly.

"Whatever you command, Young Master, I'll make sure it's done well," Xavier replied immediately.

"Mm, transfer a patient named Daniel in Oceanbridge City's Royal Hospital to the best ward as soon as possible," Noah instructed unequivocally.

For Noah, it was quite easy to solve this issue with his funds and status.

Noah couldn't help but think that after he settled this matter, his wife and in-laws were sure to look at him differently, and he had been waiting for this day for a long time.

Because he hadn't unlocked his identity as an heir to a billionaire family, ever since the day he arrived at his wife's house, he had been looked down upon by his mother-in-law, father-in-law, and little sister-in-law.

Now, he wanted his in-laws to take a good look, at the same time, to provide a better life for his loving wife. Be it the villas or luxury cars that his wife had been longing for, he would fulfill them.

He wanted to make his loving wife the happiest woman in the world and show those who looked down on him what he was capable of.

Xavier’s voice was invigorated, "Okay, I'll make a call, it'll be done within ten minutes!"

"Alright."

After hanging up the phone, Noah returned to the ward.

"Larry, I'll transfer the 100,000 dollars to you," Noah said indifferently, pulling out his phone.

"What?" Both Larry and Sarah were startled. Could it be that Noah, this good-for-nothing, really had 100,000 dollars?

Noah didn't bother with chit-chat. He transferred the 100,000 dollars to Larry; his No Preset Spending Limit Card simply had a withdrawal limit of 50 million dollars.

A mere 100,000 dollars was very easy for him.

In a short while, Larry received the bank transfer notification.

"This Noah can actually take out 100,000 dollars?" Larry looked at the message, thinking his eyes were playing tricks on him.

"Heh, didn't you see Noah and Lisa just go out?" Noah’s aunt laughed coldly:

"It's obvious, Lisa just transferred the money to Noah, then let Noah transfer it to Larry to save him from embarrassment!"

"Yes, it must be so!"

"Otherwise, how could Noah, this nobody, possibly take out 100,000 dollars!"

Sarah furrowed her brows, looking at Lisa, "Lisa, I didn't expect you could come up with 100,000 dollars. You earn 8,000 dollars a month. After expenses, and supporting Noah, this good-for-nothing, it probably takes two to three years to save 100,000 dollars, right?"

"Back then, when you were helping me out, you said you were out of money, couldn't even afford the bus to work, seems all that was a lie!"

Lisa was dumbstruck, she didn't expect her own sister to say such words.

At that time, when Lisa was helping out Sarah, indeed she was nearly unable to afford the bus.

The 100,000 dollars wasn't hers; it was Noah's.

Sarah then continued, "Liar, and I was actually moved back then. I can't believe you were secretly saving money, lying to me saying you had none!"

"It's not like that..."

Lisa trembled with anger and felt unbearably cold inside.

Charity is a matter of willingness, not obligation!

And Lisa did not lie to Sarah!

Lisa couldn't believe that her help turned into creating an enemy, being called a liar.

"Enough, stop talking!" Sarah interrupted Lisa, coldly saying:

"Times have changed. I have money now. Your help back then, now I see it was just because you pitied me, merely an act of charity! I’ll remember that!"

Lisa gritted her teeth but couldn’t find the words to say something, she didn’t know how to explain.

She never expected that helping someone would result in such an outcome, being called a liar.

"Now that the money has been gathered, I'll contact my friend to arrange Dad's room transfer," Larry said, pulling out his phone and dialing a number.

"Hello, Larry." The voice on the phone was emotionless.

"Director." Larry started with a servile smile.

"Director..."

The relatives were all ears, the title catching their attention with a slight change of expression.

"Could it be a person from a government agency?"

"It should be. It's normal for Larry, who recently has been handling government projects, to make contacts in the government."

"Not bad, Larry, to be acquainted with someone at the director-level!"

"Compare that to Noah, it’s like heaven and earth!"

"Shush! Silence! Don’t disturb Larry discussing matters with the municipal officials!"

The relatives looked at Larry with shock and respect at once.

Larry could certainly feel their gazes; his face full of pride again as he glanced sidelong at Noah and continued:

"Director, I was discussing with you earlier about the room transfer, how is it going?"

Noah smiled earnestly and said, "The room transfer was arranged by me."

"What?"

"It was you who arranged it?"

"My goodness, I can't believe it."

Noah's father-in-law, big sister, and brother-in-law were incredibly shocked upon hearing Noah's words!!!
