Chapter 6 The Role of a Husband

As Andrea entered the store, her business partner and good friend, Judith Carter, walked over and discreetly pointed at the man sitting at the table in the corner, whispering, "Your ex-boyfriend is here. He's been waiting for you for a long time."

Andrea looked over and saw that it was indeed Hank Hill, her former boyfriend who had once loved her for four years before abandoning her.

"Why did he come?" Andrea muttered.

They had broken up six months ago, and she had gradually moved on from the shadow of their breakup, but it didn't mean she wanted to see Hank.

Judith said in exasperation, "I don't know why he came. After he came in, he just ordered a glass of ice water and has been sitting there motionless. If I hadn't seen him walk in with my own eyes, I would have thought he was a ghost."

Judith knew all the details of Andrea and Hank's relationship because they were good friends. She held Hank in contempt for abandoning his girlfriend for status and wealth. When they broke up, Andrea was devastated and didn't speak for days. Judith was extremely worried about Andrea and often scolded Hank.

"Even if he's here as a customer, we still have to serve him well. But remember, we'll charge him for even a glass of ice water," Andrea said.

After half a year, when Andrea saw Hank again, her emotions were now much more stable.

Judith had told Andrea that a lover who can be taken away is not truly in love with you. Instead of dealing with infidelity and divorce after marriage, it was better to see the true nature of a person before tying the knot.

Judith smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'll make sure he pays."

Andrea walked in confidently.

"Andrea," Hank said when he noticed Andrea and immediately stood up, calling out to her affectionately as he used to.

Arthur, who had followed Andrea inside, happened to hear Hank's warm greeting. He looked at Hank, and his eyes narrowed, emitting a dangerous aura.

Hank only had eyes for Andrea. Seeing that she didn't want to talk to him, he quickly walked towards her.

"Andrea, can we talk?" Hank approached, wanting to hold Andrea's hand, but she evaded him.

"Andrea," Hank said, "It's been a while since we last met. Let's have a good chat."

After six months, Hank felt that Andrea had become even more mature and charming than before.

Breaking up with Andrea was something Hank couldn't let go of deep down. After all, they had been in love for four years, and the feelings were real.

But both Andrea and Hank came from ordinary families. Hank had worked for a few years and faced a lot of bullying. With great ambition, he privately vowed to become a rich man. Coincidentally, his boss's niece took a liking to him and refused to marry anyone else.

With a woman of such status actively pursuing him, Hank couldn't resist. After starting a relationship with her, he immediately abandoned Andrea.

Now, his position in the company was rising, and those who used to bully him had to submit to him. Hank's current girlfriend brought him all these benefits.

"There's nothing more to say between you and me, Mr. Hill," Andrea rejected.

"Andrea, are you still angry with me? I know I've made a mistake. I apologize to you," Hank apologized with a smile, but Andrea couldn't see his sincerity. Even if she could, she wouldn't accept his apology.

"Mr. Hill, we are not acquainted with each other. Please stop talking to me," Andrea said, wanting to walk away.

Hank quickly reached out and grabbed Andrea's hand. This time, Andrea couldn't avoid it and was held by him.

In the next moment, a large hand reached out and grabbed the hand that Hank was holding Andrea with. Perhaps the grip of this hand was too strong. Andrea noticed a slight change in Hank's expression, and then Hank let go of her hand.

Arthur stood beside Andrea. He was tall, even taller than Hank. Although his handsome face showed no sign of anger, his deep eyes stared at Hank, making Hank tremble involuntarily. Hank thought, 'His gaze is so cold!'

"Who are you? It's none of your business!" Hank shouted, and he tried to pull his hand back but failed. He tried even harder, but he still couldn't succeed, and his face turned red.

Disgust filled Arthur's eyes. When Hank tried once again to pull his hand back forcefully, Arthur let go.

When Arthur let go, Hank staggered back a few steps and accidentally bumped into the table, causing pain in his waist.

Hank quickly held onto the table to steady himself. Then, he straightened up and adjusted his $4000 suit. Tugging at his tie, he glared at Arthur and angrily said, "Who are you? I'm talking to my girlfriend, and it's none of your business."

Arthur looked at Andrea, then back at Hank, and sneered, "How come I didn't know that my wife became your girlfriend?"

Hank was utterly shocked.

Andrea thought to herself, 'Arthur would be a good actor if he entered into the entertainment industry. He is really good at playing the role of a husband.'

Hank looked at Andrea in disbelief and questioned Andrea, "Andrea, is he telling the truth? You've participated in a blind date a dozen times without success. You still like me. That's why you've participated in the blind date a dozen times without success."

Today, Hank came to see Andrea because he thought he now had the status and money to make Andrea his mistress and make up for the shortcomings of his current girlfriend being not pretty enough.

Arthur took two steps forward and reached out to grab Hank's tie. Then, his gentle, warning words reached Hank's ears. "You're Mr. Hank Hill, aren't you? Andrea is my wife now, and I'm the only one who can call her intimately!"

Andrea was shocked, she thought to herself, 'Arthur is so amazing. I made the right decision to rent him as my husband. Not only can he make my mom give up on pressuring me to get married, but he can also strike at bastards. It just felt a bit uncomfortable to hear the word "wife" coming from Arthur. It was because we had just become contractually married, and I hadn't fully adapted yet.'

"Do you know why Andrea went on more than ten blind dates, and none of them were successful?" Arthur asked.

Then Arthur turned his head to look at Andrea and smiled gently at her.

Andrea's heart started beating faster, thinking, 'Arthur's smile is becoming more and more charming.'

Facing Hank, Arthur continued to smile, his voice gentle as if he hadn't just warned Hank dominantly. He said, "Because Andrea is waiting for me. That's why none of those blind dates were successful."

Hank was stunned.

Andrea thought, 'Is this a sweet talk?'

Judith watched the scene with great interest.

It took Hank a long time to find his voice again. He challenged Arthur defiantly, "Besides having a handsome face, what else can you offer Andrea?"
