Chapter 7 Love Rival Eats Humble Pie

Hank didn't dare to call Andrea anymore, thinking, 'This man is really strong. My wrist still hurts from being caught by him just now.'

Arthur sneered, and Hank felt embarrassed again. Arthur's sneer made him even more uncomfortable than a direct insult.

"Mr. Hill, you certainly don't look as good as me, as long as you're willing to admit it," Arthur said.

Hank didn't know what to say.

Andrea burst into laughter.

Arthur glanced at her. She quickly covered her mouth to stifle her laughter.

Hank was unwilling to be defeated by Arthur. Because he had a four-year relationship with Andrea, he believed that she still liked him.

He asked Arthur, "Can you give Andrea a good life? Judging by your attire, your monthly income might not even reach $1000. I heard that Andrea owes over twenty thousand dollars. I am now capable of helping Andrea repay it, can you?"

Arthur didn't directly state his income but turned and walked away.

Seeing Arthur not arguing with Hank but leaving instead, the guests around who were interested in the scene felt a bit disappointed.

Even Judith couldn't help but touch Andrea's arm and ask her in a low voice, "How much is his monthly income?"

Andrea shook her head and replied softly, "I don't know either. But he works at Glory Group and rents an apartment in Gold Garden, where the monthly rent alone is over two thousand dollars."

How could someone living in Gold Garden have a monthly income lower than $1000?

Judith stared at Andrea for a long time, thinking, 'Didn't that man say Andrea is his wife? But Andrea doesn't even know her husband's income.'

Judith fell silent, thinking about how she and Andrea were together every day, but she didn't even know that Andrea was married.

"Andrea, he is simply not capable of helping you repay the debt. But I can do it now. Andrea, can we start over? As long as you promise to give me another chance, I will help you clear the debt immediately," Hank said.

Andrea sarcastically remarked, "Mr. Hill, aren't you afraid that your girlfriend will take everything away from you once she finds out you helped me repay the debt?"

Hank quickly glanced at the surrounding guests and whispered to Andrea, "Andrea, let's go outside and talk. There are too many people here."

Andrea calmly replied, "Sorry, I don't have time. Mr. Hill, if you have nothing else, please leave and don't disturb my business."

Hank wanted to say more, but when he saw Arthur walking back in, he swallowed his words.

Arthur went out for about ten minutes and then returned carrying a suitcase. No one knew what was inside that suitcase.

The surrounding guests immediately became intrigued and continued watching the drama.

Some people had already prepared to leave, but when they saw Arthur coming back in, they sat back down and ordered another cup of coffee and a few desserts. They wanted to enjoy the show while sipping coffee and eating desserts.

Andrea walked up to Arthur and said softly, "Arthur, you don't have to bother with that jerk too much, so you won't get upset."

Arthur turned to look at her. His gaze was so deep that Andrea couldn't see through it. His voice remained gentle, but Andrea sensed a hint of dominance.

"I'm not angry, but I can't let others mock you," Arthur replied. He thought that if he couldn't salvage this situation, others would mock Andrea for having a husband whose monthly income was less than $1000.

Andrea quickly said, "I don't mind."

Arthur said in a low voice, "But I do."

Andrea thought, 'Alright, Arthur, you keep acting. Later, I'll give you a gift to reward your performance as a good husband.'

Hank looked at Arthur with a smug and contemptuous expression as he walked in with the suitcase. He sneered, "Did I hit the mark? Your monthly income is not even $1000. How dare you compete with me for Andrea? Do you know how much I earn? If I were to say..."

Hank's words were cut off when Arthur threw the suitcase he had just brought in at his feet. It startled Hank and made him look a bit disheveled.

The surrounding audience burst into laughter.

Hank felt embarrassed, and he wanted to rush over and fight Arthur. Of course, it was just a thought, as he didn't dare to act. Judging by the strength Arthur displayed when he grabbed his wrist earlier, Hank knew he couldn't win against him.

"Open it and take a look!" Arthur commanded.

Hank wanted to resist Arthur, but under Arthur's intense gaze, he could not utter a word of defiance. Obediently, Hank squatted down and opened the suitcase.

After he opened it, everyone was shocked. The surroundings became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. It was a box full of brand-new money. Countless bundles of green bills dazzled Hank's eyes.

This sight also took Andrea aback. She stared at the box of money with wide eyes, wondering, 'Could these be fake money used for filming?'

Arthur stood in front of Hank, looking down at the astonished man. His voice was still pleasant, but his words made Hank extremely embarrassed. "This is the money I just withdrew from the bank."

He had thought he was wealthy and held a high status. But at this moment, Arthur had ruthlessly trampled him down, shattering his pride.

In his immense embarrassment, Hank felt a strong resentment towards Arthur, thinking, 'This man, whose name I still don't even know, dares to treat me like this! Just wait, I will come back!'

Arthur bent down to close the box, then lifted it and smiled at Hank. "Mr. Hill, would you like to leave on your own, or shall I kick you out?"

Hank stood up, too embarrassed to even look at Arthur, and left with a flushed face.

Applause filled the scene. Andrea also joined in the applause.

Arthur glanced at the guests and finally looked at Andrea, who was applauding enthusiastically. He felt a bit helpless.

After switching the suitcase to his left hand, he used his right index finger to tap Andrea's forehead. "Andrea, I did all this to help you."

"I know. Arthur, you're amazing and so dominant! I made the right choice by choosing you." Andrea kept praising Arthur with a smile, knowing that these compliments cost nothing.

Arthur silently watched her.

Andrea felt that his gaze was a bit strange.

"I'll return the money first. I borrowed it from a friend who works at a nearby bank." After saying that, Arthur walked past Andrea, carrying the money box.

Andrea and Judith thought, 'So, the money was borrowed.'

The surrounding guests thought Arthur was so impressive that he managed to borrow so much money to defeat his rival within ten minutes.
