Chapter 6 Why Are You Here

"Mrs. Heilbronn, you're hurt pretty bad. How can I let you go to the hospital alone?" Betty said, worried.

"It's fine, it's just a scratch. And Betty..." Aurelia handed over the signed divorce papers. "I've already divorced Nathaniel. Please, don't call me Mrs. Heilbronn anymore. Thanks for helping me out earlier, but I don't belong here anymore. It's time for me to go."

"Mrs. Heilbronn, where will you go?" Betty's casual question hit Aurelia hard.

'Yeah, where can I go? Seems like I have nowhere else but the Bloom Villa,' Aurelia thought. But she still tried to reassure Betty, "I'll be okay. I'm a grown-up; I can go anywhere. I might stay in the hospital for a few days. Alright, Betty, you go on. I'm leaving now."

Aurelia waved to Betty and got into the ambulance. The medics in the ambulance were surprised to see a patient who could get in by herself.

'She doesn't look that bad. Why call an ambulance? What a waste of resources,' they thought. But then they saw Aurelia collapse onto the stretcher as soon as she got in. They asked, "What happened?"

Aurelia weakly pointed to her head. "I got hit. I think it's a concussion." Then she was hit with another wave of nausea and threw up everything in her stomach. Even after that, she kept dry heaving until only bitter bile was left, leaving a nasty taste in her mouth.

Seeing this, the medics rushed her to the hospital. Once they got to the emergency room, the staff quickly wheeled her in.

The white walls, bright lights, and busy staff made Aurelia feel strangely scared. The doctors, dressed neatly in their white coats, with serious and focused expressions, quickly began examining her.

"Can you hear me?" A young doctor, Dalton Geelt, asked.

"I can hear you," Aurelia replied weakly.

"Good. I'm going to ask you some questions. Try to answer, okay?" Dalton started a quick mental check. "What's your name?"

"Aurelia Semona," she tried to focus and stay awake.

"Good, Ms. Semona. Now, I'm going to check your head." Dalton gently touched her head, watching her reaction. Aurelia felt a sharp pain and winced.

"We need to do a CT scan to see if there's a concussion or other injuries." Dalton quickly decided and told the nurses to get the equipment ready.

The nurses moved fast, getting the CT scanner ready. Aurelia was carefully moved to the scanning bed, and Dalton reassured her, "Don't worry, this won't take long."

In the CT scan room, the machine made a slight noise. Aurelia closed her eyes, trying to relax.

A few minutes later, Dalton looked at the scan results, his face serious. He quickly went to Aurelia, speaking earnestly, "Ms. Semona, the scan shows you have a mild concussion. We need to admit you for further observation and treatment."

"A concussion?" Aurelia felt a wave of unease.

"Yes, but don't worry, we'll take good care of you." Dalton's voice was professional yet warm, giving her a bit of courage.

The staff quickly finished the admission process and got a room ready for Aurelia. With a nurse by her side, Aurelia was slowly wheeled into her room.

Just as she settled into bed, Dalton walked in, looking a bit troubled. He held several printed pages filled with small text that Aurelia couldn't read from a distance, but she guessed they were consent forms needing her signature.

To her surprise, these forms needed a family member's signature. "Ms. Semona, do you have a contact number for your family? I need to inform them to come for support and handle the payment," Dalton asked.

Payment wasn't an issue. Aurelia had already prepared her bank card and handed it to Dalton, even trusting him enough to reveal her PIN.

Dalton was at a loss. Judging by her behavior, she probably couldn't find a family member to support her.

Dalton's guess was spot on. Aurelia indeed had no family to support her. Her injuries were caused by Norman, and Nathaniel had divorced her that morning. She couldn't bring herself to ask Nathaniel to take care of her. She could only rely on her good friend.

Wondering if he was available, Aurelia unlocked her phone with her fingerprint and handed it to Dalton, trusting him to find her only good friend, Ulysses Lopez, in her contacts.

'After all, Ulysses isn't working or married. Asking him to take care of me isn't too much, right?' As Aurelia thought this, Dalton found Ulysses' number and was about to dial when the door opened, and a tall, slender man walked in.

"Why are you here?" Both the man and Aurelia were surprised, clearly not expecting to see each other in such a place.

Dalton also paused his actions. "You know each other?"

More than just acquaintances, they were practically family. The man was Marcus Heilbronn, Nathaniel's uncle, only four years older than Nathaniel.

Nathaniel and Marcus looked somewhat similar, but their temperaments were entirely different. Marcus appeared gentle and elegant.

Marcus and Aurelia had never met privately; they had only encountered each other at family gatherings at the Heilbronn Villa.

Aurelia had learned about Marcus from others' conversations that he had been in poor health since childhood and had been recuperating abroad. When Marcus returned to the country, he happened to run into his good friend, Ulysses.

Marcus had completely charmed Ulysses, who wanted to pursue him every day. However, Ulysses was not one to impose on others; once he knew Marcus's identity, he refrained from bothering him.

Aurelia remembered praising Ulysses for being a deeply emotional person when she first heard about it. But Ulysses' response was much more realistic. "He's from the Heilbronn family. How could I possibly dare to bother him?"

Thinking of this, Aurelia couldn't help but smile sweetly. Her bright eyes shone with an irresistible charm, revealing her pure and kind heart. In that moment, her smile lit up the entire room.

Marcus and Dalton were both stunned, but Dalton was the first to snap out of it, nudging Marcus with his elbow. "Since you know her, you should sign the forms."

"Is that appropriate?" Aurelia didn't want to trouble Marcus.

"It's fine. I can be considered your family," Marcus said, signing his name on the consent forms without hesitation.

Dalton, who was clearly familiar with Marcus, raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Is Marcus in a relationship?'
