Chapter 1 Selling Me a City?!
"What? You want to sell me a castle and a piece of land?"
Henry's eyes widened as he looked at the old man with shock.
"Yes, my friend, I'm offering you my land and a castle," Carter's voice, filled with sincerity.
"Let me think about it!"
Henry furrowed his brow, feeling a bit uncertain. He had been in many business deals, but this was one of the most unusual.
Carter's eyes flickered, and he quickly added, "My friend, what's on your mind? Are you concerned about your status?"
Before Henry could respond, Carter continued, "Don't worry about your status. I'll sell you a noble title as well."
Henry's eyes narrowed. He was intrigued by this, but he remained cautious. "Carter, I don't understand why you're selling your estate and even giving up your noble title."
"I'm getting old!" Carter sighed. "I'm seventy this year, and I don't have many years left. My descendants cannot deal with those, so it's best to sell the estate and seek a better life in another city."
Henry didn't believe what Carter said, so he asked, "What's the price?"
"I'll sell everything to you for a hundred gold coins!" Carter grinned, revealing a mouthful of black teeth, and named a high price.
Henry spat out the water he had just drunk, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Carter, are you crazy?"
He had been in this world for a month, and he knew the immense value of a hundred gold coins.
Carter wiped the water off his face and said calmly, "That's for an estate, a castle, and a noble title. A hundred gold coins are not expensive. In other places, it would cost several times more!"
Henry's lips curled into a smile as he looked at the somewhat embarrassed Carter. "You know, that's in other places; I'm only willing to offer thirty gold coins, which is all I have."
"That's too little..." Carter wanted to negotiate, but seeing Henry packing his things to leave, he quickly shouted, "Alright, thirty gold coins, I agree!"
Henry glanced at Carter and said, "Carter, I suspect I'm being ripped off with these thirty gold coins."
"Hahaha... My friend, you will not suffer losses. Starting tomorrow, you'll be a nobleman with a piece of land," Carter said with a big grin, revealing his black teeth.
"I don't have thirty gold coins; I only have goods worth thirty gold coins. If you're willing, then let's make the deal." Henry sighed, his eyes filled with reluctance as he looked at the two large boxes behind him.
"Of course, deal!" Carter quickly agreed.
After speaking, Carter went to open the two boxes, but Henry stopped him and said, "Carter, don't be in a hurry. You have to prove that what you said is true. The castle, the land, and the noble title can be traded."
"Hahaha..." Carter showed his black teeth and waved his hand, "No problem. You come with me to the estate, and I'll make the announcement publicly and pass the title to you. Tonight, you can stay in the castle."
"Alright!"
A hint of a smile flashed in Henry's eyes. He brought a carriage, loaded the boxes onto it, and followed Carter.
He looked at the procession of a dozen people ahead, their attire simple and their behavior strange. Every time he saw them, he felt it was incredible.
Henry was a time traveler, one who could travel between Earth and another world.
A month ago, he was at home watching anime when he was struck by lightning and found himself in this strange world.
Then he discovered that he could travel back and forth once a day and had a two-cubic-meter personal space, which was his trump card.
Apart from the initial confusion, Henry quickly became a trader between the two worlds, bringing ordinary things from Earth to sell here to accumulate some wealth.
After a month of careful exploration and gathering information, Henry came to a conclusion.
This was a wonderful world, but also an era of cold weapons, with a level of civilization similar to Europe in the seventh century, where slavery and feudalism coexisted.
Carter was one of his old customers, so of course, there was no need to think about the old man buying things generously.
In his impression, Carter was a stingy noble, so it was hard to believe that he would want to sell his estate and noble title.
It must be a trap. Henry had considered this possibility, but he didn't care. Carter thought he was making a profit, but for Henry, what he was giving up was even cheaper.
Henry urgently needed a place to stay and a legitimate identity. The rest, for him, was a small matter that could be easily resolved.
As long as he had his territory and personal space, he could shuttle back and forth between Earth and this world.
By then, he would only need to bring a large number of industrial products from Earth at a low price to exchange for valuable raw materials here to make a profit.
On the surface, it seemed like he was losing, but in reality, he was the biggest winner.
"Being a noble seems not bad," Henry's mouth curled up, muttering to himself, "As long as I have enough time, not only becoming a lord, even becoming the ruler of the Royal City is not a problem."
He decided that as long as the city wasn't too terrible, he would buy it. Relying on his ability to travel between the two worlds, it seemed like a great idea to be the lord in this world.
