Chapter 7 The Wrath of the Snow Goddess.
"Is that true? Will you really let me go?" Mila asked again.
"Yes," Henry replied with a bitter smile, answering the third time.
Since he mentioned releasing the catgirl, she had incredulously repeated the question several times.
"Why? Am I not attractive? Aren't you fond of orc girls?" Mila furrowed her brow, puzzled.
"Yes, you're not attractive at all," Henry teased, a smirk playing on his lips.
"How is that possible!" Mila's eyes widened. Ellie had praised her as a beautiful cat warrior, even more beautiful than a human princess.
The next moment, she caught Henry's smile and realized he was teasing her. Feeling annoyed, she flicked her tail and shot him a glare.
Was Mila beautiful? Henry would say she was several times more beautiful than any star on Earth, especially with those cat ears and tail, which added to her charm.
"Isn't it normal to let you go?" Henry shook his head helplessly. Since he left the room, she had followed him, bombarding him with questions.
"Well..." Mila was at a loss for words as she looked at Henry's handsome profile. Suddenly, she found it hard to speak.
She had rescued many orc girls who were kept captive by nobles and treated as pets. Many nobles had pursued her, but she had always escaped.
Now, a noble stood before her, ready to let her go. The contrast was too great. She didn't want to leave.
The room fell silent, with only the sound of footsteps on the stairs. This was a thirty feet-high building, the tallest in Eldoria, made entirely of stone bricks, with a study at the top.
The heavy door opened, revealing a cluttered study that made Henry furrow his brow.
"You're a very special noble," Mila suddenly remarked.
"Huh?" Henry was taken aback, smiling and shaking his head. "I've only been a noble for less than half a day, after all."
Henry's attention turned to the study, where he observed the crooked books. He rearranged them from top to bottom, making them orderly.
"This looks much better."
Henry relaxed his furrowed brow, opened the wooden window, looking outside. However, his expression soon turned sour again. "Those houses and roads are quite unsightly."
With a thud, he closed the window, then closed his eyes and sat in a chair.
"You seem more like a noble than any I've met," Mila said, covering her mouth as she chuckled.
She felt extremely comfortable around Henry for no reason, without the usual repugnant odor or uncomfortable gaze.
Henry opened his eyes and looked at Mila in surprise, wondering why she had suddenly let down her guard.
"Do you know about Eldoria?" he asked.
Mila was puzzled and asked, "Aren't you a noble in this city? Why are you asking me?"
"Well... I just became a noble here and don't know anything about this place," Henry said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Mila's eyes widened, and she exclaimed, "You don't know anything, but you bought it?"
Henry rolled his eyes and said, "I bought it so you wouldn't starve."
Mila coughed and sighed, "Did you forget that autumn is coming soon?"
"What's wrong with autumn?" Henry had a bad feeling.
"You're really clueless!" Mila said, "Autumn is the season of harvest, the beginning of a feast for some bandits."
Henry's pupils constricted, and he exclaimed, "You mean someone will come to plunder the food?"
"Of course, don't you know that? Are you from a big city?" Mila asked in surprise.
"Well..." Henry shook his head and fabricated, "I'm from the East."
Mila was even more surprised and exclaimed, "The East? That's one of the wealthy human kingdoms. Why would you come to this harsh land? You're really special."
Henry rolled his eyes. He had arrived in this place after a transmigration, and it was fortunate that he came here. He would have been captured in no time if he had taken the glass cups in the East.
"Tell me more about the situation in this land," Henry urged.
"Alright!" Mila nodded and began to give Henry a general introduction.
The western land was vast, and Mila couldn't describe its size. She only mentioned several human kingdoms and a few orc kingdoms.
Five years ago, a strong cold storm hit the western land, with a widespread impact that affected both orc and human kingdoms, resulting in countless deaths from bitter cold.
Some people dubbed this strong cold storm the "Wrath of the Ice Goddess".
For a full five years, the "Wrath of the Ice Goddess" had not subsided, leading directly to the destruction of several countries. Everyone left these kingdoms to seek survival in other places.
Mila came from one of the orc kingdoms, and Eldoria was located on the edge of the western land, not far from the area ravaged by the "Wrath of the Snow Goddess."
So, when winter came, the cold wind from the strong cold storm would blow here, causing the current winter to arrive earlier than five years ago and be even colder.
There were more than tens of thousands of small cities like Eldoria in the western land. So, those who escaped from the kingdoms destroyed by the "Wrath of the Snow Goddess," whether they were humans or orcs, were homeless. Before the arrival of winter, they had to resort to banditry to plunder food in order to survive.
