Chapter 4

Jake

Monday I headed into the office.I guess people didn't expect to see a man wearing a suit and tie riding a bike because everyone just started staring. On my way back home I saw her walking on the road , and suddenly I got angry at her for disappearing and having me worried out of my goddamn mind . I didn't stop, I rode past her.

I remembered I had seen a hidden path A bit further down the road. I rode my bike in and waited for her. When she walked past I grabbed her, pulling her between the trees and shrubs.

I knew No one could see us. Even if they stopped ,they couldn't see us.

She started trembling,she had her head down. I grabbed her arm so she would look at me but when I did she winced and I let go of her immediately. I raised her face up and that single moment cemented it for me. She was mine. The anger I felt was beyond anything I've ever felt before. Her face was slightly black and blue, one of her eyes was black and blue and her lips were swollen and red . I pulled my helmet off and kept looking at her.

“ Who did this to you?” I asked her, my tone left no place for anything but the truth.

“ My father. She told him I was going around sleeping with men. She told him about you ” ,she whispered quietly.

I pulled her into me and held her. Fuck.The day I saw her I knew I was in trouble but I didn't expect to fall for her this fast. The past three weeks were good. Everyday, I would meet her,she always kept quiet and little by little she took a place in my heart and life.

“ Where else are you hurt princess?” , I asked her. She shook her head.

“ Avery?” ,

She turned around and pulled off her shirt . Fuck ,her back was black and blue and covered in welt's and bruises.I wanted to strangle someone. Namely that fucking asshole that she calls a father.

“ This is normal. I've endured more than this. Please don't meet me again”, she said, wearing her shirt and walking away . Fuck.

I grabbed her pulling her back under the cover of the trees. I turned her to look at me.

“ Why do you stay?”. I asked her.

“ Because I have nowhere else to go”. She said quietly. I raised her face towards mine. Didn't she know the house was her's?, that didn't matter anymore.

I ,Jake Zachary Woods, Claim you, Avery Amelia Campbell. You're mine , trust me to be good for you and good to you. Look at me Avery “ , I said, waiting for her to look at me.

When she Did there were tears in her eyes.

“ I'll come for you, trust me and they'll let you go themselves “ , I said looking at her.

“ Okay” ,

“ When does your vacation begin?”

“ This is the last week” she said

“ What do you normally do during your vacation?”,

She was quiet

“ Avery?”

“ Nothing, I stayed home. He gave me permission to get a Job this time,but that won't happen “.

“ Why not?”

“ Renee and Alexis will make sure I don't find one“ .

“ Don't worry about it baby girl ”.

Avery

I thought I could avoid it but I didn't. Renee came back and dragged me into the car. Once we got home, I heard everything she told my dad, all the lies, especially finding me making out with Jake on the road and he got angry. I tried to tell him it was a lie but he wouldn't believe me. Esther and Sherry couldn't stop him either.

He began beating me so mercilessly that I wished I had died. I couldn't go to school for almost two weeks. My exams were close so I had to. I didn't expect Jake to show up or for him to say that. When he took off the helmet, I was shocked for a second.

He just held me , I felt safe wrapped in his arms, I felt Loved and Cared for.

“ Trust me Princess, everything will be okay soon. I promise ” ,he said, Caressing my face.

“ Okay “ , I said, not really believing my father would let me go.

“ I have to go” , I said looking at him.

“ I would take you home, but you're already hurt and If they see me again they'll hurt you again and I may commit murder” , he said

“ It's okay. It's been this way since I was twelve ” , I said quietly.

“ Go on Princess, I'll see you soon. I promise” ,he Said letting go of me.

I left him standing there and walked out of the trees . I heard the bike going in the other direction, I guess he was heading back to town. He was wearing a suit ,hmm , he probably had been doing something important .

When I got home, They were in the living room, Alexis was going on about something. I didn't say anything or look at them . I continued walking heading up the stairs.

“ Have you found a job yet?”, my father asked me. How could I when I was hidden away for the past two weeks so my bruises could heal, I didn't dare say that.

“ No not yet ” , I said, keeping my head down.

“ Alexis got a job at the mayor's office , make sure it's a good Job and not something degrading”, he said, turning away.

“ Okay ” , I said heading up to my room.

Once there I just laid in bed. How would I get a Job,if I had no means of finding one?. No laptop,no phone. I had to be home at a certain time. What was the use of giving me permission if he wouldn't give me the chance.

I was about to turn off the lights and go to bed when my room door opened and Esther came in.

“ Avery, someone was here with a bike. He said to give you this , it's medication for your bruise. “ She said, handing me the bag.

“ Thank you Esther ”

She helped me rub the ointment on my back. I went to bed that night feeling a bit content. I woke up at four like clockwork and got dressed for school and headed down.

I left after Sherry made some breakfast for me. I was twenty minutes into my walk when a black SUV pulled up beside me. I stopped for a second then continued walking. The car pulled alongside me and stopped. The window rolled down and he was sitting there just looking at me..I was left speechless for a minute. He was handsome,no wonder he never took the helmet off.

“ Get in Princess. Don't worry, I have some watching To make sure they don't see you “ he said opening the door. I got into the car and he rolled the windows up.

“ Are you okay?”, he asked me

“ I'm fine. Umm how do you know what time I leave everyday?” I asked, looking at him. He held the steering wheel with his right hand and placed his left hand on my thigh. That one touch made me shiver and also gave me a feeling of comfort.

“ I see you. My place is number one. I know everything about you Avery. When your classes begin and end. What you're studying everything, “ he said ,not taking his eyes off the road.

His thumb was rubbing my thighs. That sensation started deep in me and I knew that spelled trouble. I didn't say anything else, this was the first time we'll second , if you count yesterday that he has ever touched me. For six weeks he's been riding with me to school and the beach and never once touched me. I looked out the window. It was still early and cool , he drove to the seaside again and just parked there.

“ Umm can you please explain Who you are?. I don't really know anything about you , but you know everything about me “I said looking at him.

When he turned to look at me ,his blue eyes were piercing, I looked away.

“ Look at me Avery” , for some reason I couldn't.

“ Avery?”,

I turned and looked at him. His eyes locked onto mine.

“ You're the first woman to not know who I am or what I'm Worth. No one knows anything about the CEO of Zion Corporation .My name is Jake Zachary Woods. I'm thirty years old. I grew up in an orphanage, I studied through college and started small. I Deal in software . I then expanded Zion ,into technology, shipping and bioengineering development. My Net worth is somewhere around sixty billion, I think , princess, “ he said , casually.

I could feel my eyes going wide. I felt like all the air in the car was being sucked out. Suddenly I couldn't breathe. No ,this wasn't possible. This had to be some kind of game, some kind of joke, did he lose a bet with his billionaire friends. Guys like him don't have interest in girls like me. He was supposed to hang around models and Actresses .
