Chapter 5
"...I believe that you might just be the very last of your kind. There is a way to make certain of it, but it's a big risk to try. There's a cave that my pack told me about as a cub. I won't go into too much detail until I have all the information myself, but if you're truly a White Moon, you won't have a problem. But let me first tell you how the White Moon pack came to be extinct. That way you'll at least know a little pack history..."
Lumae, sitting on a couch in grandpa Will's place, sinks in deeper to get more comfortable, since it sounded like it would be a long story and Samantha continued, "So the White Moons were, no doubt, the strongest wolves there were, though I was only 18 when they last roamed the forest freely, I remember it as if it were yesterday. The alpha of the pack, Raymond Nocte, was at least 10 times stronger than any of the alphas out there and each member of the pack had equal strength to the normal alphas. They ruled the entire forest, keeping it in peace, not being restrained to any specific territory. However, the Tenebris Lupus pack's alpha, who is currently still in charge, hated it. He desperately wanted to keep his own territory. He meticulously planned a way to get rid of the white moons for 2 months straight, but couldn't find anything, until it was announced that the Alpha Raymond's mate was expecting a child. He knew that the alpha would let down his guard in order to protect the child, so he took that to his advantage and attacked overnight...", Lumae stood up from the couch, stopping Samantha, "Sorry, just have to go to the bathroom quickly, be right back," then she rushed off. Samantha sighed, but took this time to look around a bit. She first saw the pictures on the walls of Lumae growing up, either doing something funny such as, posing with a plant in her hand whilst having mud ALL over her or her doing good academically. Then Samantha's eyes wanderd towards a cabinet with a lot of things on display. One rack was dedicated just towards "Lumae's mother". As Samantha scanned over the few things that there were, such as a blue stoned ring, earrings, etc., she spotted a necklace that looked quite familiar, a necklace with a bright blue, crescent moon pendant, but she couldn't figure out why the necklace looked so familiar. Just as Samantha was starting to wonder about it, Lumae appeared behind her, "Oh yeah, that was my mother's. Grandpa Will said that I'll inherit all of this as soon as I turn 18." "Oh, ok then, well shall we go on with the history now?", Lumae eagerly headed towards the couch again and plopped down. "Yup".
Samantha also sat back down,"So he took the opportunity to attack the White Moon pack overnight, using a gas made out of your favorite flower, wolfsbane. Wolfsbane can't really harm werewolves before they've first shifted, nor could they harm the alphas of the White Moon. But that little gas trick alone cost White Moon to lose A LOT of their strongest members, leaving the alpha and his mate to take the remaining members somewhere safe. On their way, they got ambushed once again and since mostly the weaker wolves were left, they couldn't do much. So in an attempt to lure the Tenebris Lupus pack away from the others, Alpha Raymond searched for their alpha, who couldn't be far. Once he spotted him, he immediately attacked him, giving him a huge scar across the left side of his face, and he sprinted off into the forest. The plan had worked for a time, Alpha Raymond managed to get the entire pack to run after him and the Tenebris Alpha, until they reached a cliff. He was running out of ideas until he thought about trying to throw the other alpha off the cliff. However, the Tenebris Alpha played dirty and got the entire pack to gang up on Alpha Raymond and he couldn't fend them off for long till he was pushed off the cliff. He had somehow survived the fall though and led his pack somewhere safe, but his health was quickly deteriorating and as soon as his health dropped to the lowest the Tenebris pack sprung to action, slaying off every last White Moon member, but it was said that the body of the Luna, Alpha Raymond's mate, as well as a few other she-wolves were never found, so they believed that the Luna had taken them somewhere, but that they all passed away without a mate, or that the Tenebris pack killed her and threw her off the cliff or something, but no one ever truly knew what happened to them...Any questions?" Lumae sat up straight, stretched, and yawned, "Yeah a few. Who are the Tenebris Lupus pack? Why couldn't they just find another territory? Why weren't you affected by the wolfsbane when you gave it to me and what's a mate?", Samantha was taken aback by all the questions; she didn't expect Lumae to suddenly ask this much, "You know what...", Samantha looked at the clock just above the doorframe, (23:46), "It's getting late. I'll tell you tomorrow, so for now, get some good rest, and in the future, try not to get yourself worked up again, I don't want to be chasing you to enemy territory again," Samantha chuckled, turned and headed towards the door, but stopped to look back at Lumae. "You really are an extraordinary kid, don't let stuff like this break you down", then she left. Lumae looked at the door a bit longer before feeling one small tear drop fall down her cheek and wiped it away, then went to her room and headed off to sleep.
Meanwhile as Samantha was going through the dark forest towards her pack, she started hearing rustling in the bushes behind her. Just as she turned to look around to see what it was, a pair of sharp teeth sank into her neck, letting her fall to the ground as they let go and all she could see whilst she felt the warm, thick blood leave her body, was a pare of green eyes. Samantha's body grew colder and colder, her skin turned pale and her eyes got hazy. She was lying there in the middle of the damp, dark forest, cold, bloodied,...dead.
