Chapter 3 Stocking Up
Steven was very cold towards Alice.
Alice and Ivy also sensed something was wrong.
However, after mistakenly thinking Steven was a rich scion, the two of them not only didn't get angry at Steven's attitude but actively approached him.
It was normal for rich people to have a bit of a temper!
"Hey, Steven, were you just eating at this restaurant?" Ivy said, pretending to be casual.
Steven frowned slightly. This woman was no good either; she was just as bad as Alice.
Back when they tricked him out of his food and got him killed, she had a part in it too.
"Yes," Steven replied coldly, then he put his hands in his pockets and turned to walk towards the supermarket.
Alice and Ivy quickly followed.
"Steven, where are you going?" Alice asked with a gentle smile.
"To the supermarket," Steven's voice was still cold, with a hint of impatience.
If it weren't for wanting her to experience the despair of the apocalypse, Steven would have wanted to kill her right then and there.
Alice gave Ivy a wink and quickly said, "What a coincidence, we were just about to buy some things too. We're heading the same way!"
Steven had already figured it out by now. They must have seen him dining at a Michelin three-star restaurant and mistakenly thought he was some rich scion.
That was why they were suddenly so enthusiastic about him.
He couldn't be bothered to say anything to them and walked straight towards the supermarket.
But the more he acted like this, the more Alice and Ivy thought he was a rich scion.
Otherwise, why would he be so arrogant?
The two followed beside Steven, with Alice even brushing up against him, sometimes deliberately touching him.
When Steven looked at her, she would shyly turn her head away, her face blushing as if she were very bashful.
Steven sneered inwardly. 'You wretched woman, you can really act. If you went into acting, you'd definitely win an Oscar,' he thought.
Steven entered the supermarket, grabbed a shopping cart, and walked in.
Alice and Ivy quickly grabbed shopping carts and followed.
"Steven, were you eating with someone?" Alice asked with a smile.
Steven walked towards the food section and said coldly, "Can't I eat by myself?"
With eyes lighting up, Alice quickly said, "Oh, I didn't mean it. It's just that the food there is quite expensive, so I thought you might be treating someone."
Ivy couldn't help but ask, "Steven, you only make a little over a thousand dollars a month, right? That meal must have cost you half a year's salary."
"Looks like your family left you quite a bit of money," Ivy added.
Alice quickly glared at Ivy. 'Idiot, how can you ask such a question!' she thought.
As a top schemer, the most important rule was: talk about feelings with the rich and talk about money with the poor!
Ivy realized she had misspoken and quickly tried to make up for it. "Haha, I was just joking. We're all good friends here; money doesn't really matter."
But Steven didn't bother to respond to them.
He arrived at the food section and looked at the shelves full of goods, feeling like he had entered a treasure trove.
In his previous life, he had experienced the feeling of making a loaf of bread last for two days.
So he had an insatiable desire for food.
Steven went straight to the shelves and started putting all the food into his cart.
Sausages, bread, canned food, and condiments, he bought them all in large quantities.
This action left Alice and Ivy dumbfounded.
"Steven, why are you buying so much food? Are you going camping?"
"Yes," Steven replied flatly.
Ivy, however, became suspicious and whispered in Alice's ear, "Would a rich scion eat this stuff while camping?"
Alice was also a bit puzzled, but thinking about that Michelin three-star meal, she was reluctant to give up the idea that Steven was a rich second generation scion.
She ran up to Steven and eagerly said, "Do you need any help?"
With free labor at his disposal, Steven had no reason not to refuse. Moreover, seeing Alice's feigned innocent smile, Steven felt a surge of vengeful thoughts.
He had a month to prepare for the apocalypse. Creating a perfect shelter to ensure his safety wasn't difficult. As for supplies, he could always get more from the Walmart warehouse.
This way, he could ensure he was absolutely safe and living comfortably during the apocalypse. Why not deliberately let Alice know he was stockpiling supplies, and then watch her come crying and begging for help?
As for Alice leaking his information and attracting those malicious neighbors to attack him, this issue was easy to tackle. As long as his safe house was strong enough, he wouldn't have to worry about being attacked; he could even effectively counterattack those malicious neighbors!
Thinking about their frustrated and helpless expressions, Steven couldn't help but smile. This was indeed a viable option.
Steven planned to contact a security company to build such a safe house. If that didn't work, he would move away from the city and find a remote wilderness to build an underground shelter.
He had prepared for all possible scenarios.
Steven's lips curled into a smile. "Then you can help me push the shopping cart!"
Alice quickly nodded in agreement. Steven also told Ivy to get another shopping cart. Although they were both filled with suspicion, they still followed his instructions.
Steven bought a lot of non-perishable food, including bread, sausages, some cured meats, and canned goods. He also used one cart specifically for fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and some live fish.
He wanted to test if his extradimensional space had any special effects on storing fresh food.
With three shopping carts filled to the brim, Steven handed the cart loaded with beef, lamb, and canned goods to the two women. The weight was at least 500 pounds, making them sweat profusely.
Alice complained a bit, pouting, "Steven, how many people are going to eat all this? Are you planning something and not telling me?"
Steven sneered and said, "The world changes quickly. What if doomsday comes? I'm just stocking up in case of emergencies!"
Steven was telling the truth, but no one believed him at the moment. A doctor named Boris had proven Stven’s honesty.
Alice just thought Steven was joking and couldn't help but laugh, "If you don't want to tell me, fine! Why joke about something like that?"
"But since I helped you so much today, you have to treat me to a meal sometime!" Alice hinted with puppy dog eyes. She was hoping Steven would take her to a Michelin three-star restaurant.
Steven smiled slightly. "Sure. But I've been quite busy lately, so I have no time. Maybe next month."
Alice happily said, "Great, it's a deal!"
Ivy quickly chimed in, "That's awesome, let's all eat together!"
Just helping to push a shopping cart and getting a fancy meal in return made her very happy. Seeing Ivy being so indiscreet, Alice glared at her again. But Ivy pretended not to see it.
Steven went to check out, spending over a thousand dollars on supplies. He paid without hesitation. In the apocalypse, these supplies would be worth thousands of times more, even priceless. Because then, no matter how much money you had, you might not be able to buy any food.
Since Steven had bought so much, the supermarket was happy to let him borrow the shopping carts. Steven unceremoniously had the two women help him push the supplies home.
He actually had a car and could have driven the supplies back. But with free labor available, he naturally used it.
Although the two women kept complaining, the promise of a fancy meal from Steven kept them motivated.
So, the three of them pushed the three shopping carts full of supplies back to the neighborhood.
