Sacrifice and salvation

Ashina's POV

I could not be able to stand back and watch my clan come to danger. The very essence of my being here was to save me, even though I might die trying.

Each time I went close to Lobo, I couldn't help but feel nauseous. He does not touch my things, why does he now smell like pure signature perfume?

I paid no attention to it, I just stood up after vomiting. Rinsed my mouth and went out to meet him.

I did not know what to expect because he would be angry that I knelt down to beg him before his brother.

“I am sorry, I don't know what came over me. I just wanted to plead on behalf of my clan. They are not strong enough to fight off the Rewa demons”

He looked at me like his eyes could pierce my soul and send me to the darkest pit possible.

“I would see to it” was his simple reply.

“Thank you your grace”

I knew he did not spend the night at home but I could not ask. Not that I cared but I was just worried one day he would end up causing trouble that would be too much for me to contain.

He cleaned himself up and went out to the throne room. I waited for a little while after he left to call Estel.

“My queen, what can I do for you?”

“Please go to the throne room and find out what they are discussing for me”

She bowed her head without any arguments and went out.

I quickly pushed the leftover meal away, as I was not hungry. I took an apple from the fruit basket that the maids brought every morning and began to eat.

About an hour later, Estee returned and told me that the alpha told his brother to look into the shield that protected our clan and fix where it was breaking from.

Her words gladdened my heart. Whatever turned the heart of Lobo towards me was my saving grace.

I rubbed my hands on my tummy and was glad the child I prayed not to have might finally be my salvation.

I asked Estel to prepare a special dinner for the alpha to show my appreciation for his kindness towards my clan.

She went her way and I prayed for it to be evening when Lobo would return from his meetings and inspection.

Time passed by swiftly as I was busy knitting a cardigan for my little one.

I was in my room when I heard a loud noise from outside the palace. I rushed to the window to find out what was wrong but I only found soldiers running in and out of the palace.

I dared not to venture outside since I was not sure if Lobo was around or not. I paced around in my room and Nala asked me to calm down.

“Why are you restless? What is the worst that could go wrong?”

Then I thought about and realised Nala was right. I sat down and continued to knit my cardigan when the door of my room was pushed open.

I jumped up out of fear and it was Estel.

“You have to come my queen, the soldiers who went to fix the broken shield have returned and are badly wounded”

I rushed out with her and in no time we were at the physicians Chambers where he was attending to them.

There were more than ten and badly injured. Somewhere barely hanging on a thread between life and death while others were bleeding profusely.

I asked the pack physician to quickly draw my blood and transfuse it into them to save them.

“That could be very dangerous for you because of your condition but I told him to do as I commanded or he would lose his job and care is not taken, the alpha would have his head.

In no time he was through and began to transfuse the blood to them.

One after the other they began to look better and I could not be happier.

“I hope this is all of them?” I asked one the soldiers standing by the door and he said no

“The alpha’s brother went with them but he is nowhere to be found”

For some odd reason my heart almost sank within me. I went outside and began to search everywhere for him.

I went into the garden and searched but he was not there. I turned around to leave but Nala reminded me that I had not searched under the big oak tree behind the palace.

I rushed there, and there he was lying almost lifeless on the floor.

I went close to him and noticed that he had a deep cut in his side. I yelled as loud as I could and some soldiers rushed to where I was.

“Quickly, left him up” They lifted him up and we went to the Physician's Chambers.

By the time we got there, the other soldiers were already looking good and ready to go.

They placed him on a bed and I asked the physician to do the same process for him but this time he stood his ground and refused.

I did not persuade him, I just took the needle and began to draw the blood from my arm. I already knew the procedure because I had done it countless times.

“This is very dangerous and could pose a risk to your health” the physician said and he looked very worried.

“I will be fine, this is just the last time”

He took the blood baf away from me and inserted the needle into the alpha’s brother and we all waited for the miracle to happen.

Indeed it was how we wanted it. Zeeb coughed out and his wounds began to close up.

“See, I told you it would not harm me”

That was all I remember as I fell helplessly on the floor and the lights went out.
