Chapter 2 Never Look Back

Edward asked, "Ran away from home? When did this happen?"

"Just now, when you and Ms. Adams came in. Mrs. Wellington slipped out the back door without taking anything. She got into a blue Porsche!"

Edward rushed to the bedroom. Just like the butler said, Lily hadn't taken a thing. The room was as tidy as ever, with only a divorce agreement on the bedside table. He picked it up and opened it. Lily's signature, though smudged by tears, was still clear.

Edward touched the name, lost in thought. The roar of an engine outside snapped him back to reality. He went to the window and saw a blue Porsche speeding away from Riverside Villa. Soon, it was out of sight.

Byron, just hearing the whole story, landed another blow on Patrick's leg.

"Get out! And take that Adams woman with you!"

Patrick, who took the hit for Edward, cried out, "Dad, why are you hitting me? It wasn't me who drove Lily away." He stepped back, out of Byron's cane range.

Byron threw a fit when he couldn't land the third blow. "I don't care. Nicole will never be my granddaughter-in-law. I want Lily. If you don't bring Lily back, you two can forget about having any peace around here."

It was clear that if Edward angered Byron again, Patrick would suffer the consequences on Edward's behalf.

"Dad, calm down. It's just a signed agreement; they haven't gone to court for the divorce yet. Lily is still your granddaughter-in-law. Take it easy. If something happens to you, won't Lily be even more upset when she comes back and sees you?"

"She won't come back," Edward said coldly. "Ending this marriage was a mutual decision. Other people's objections won't change that."

Byron stood up, heavily leaning on his cane, his face pale. He pointed at Edward, unable to speak, then started shaking all over and collapsed backward.

"Dad!"

"Grandpa!"

"Mr. Wellington!"

The sudden incident threw the other three into a panic, calling for a doctor and performing first aid.

"Edward, forget about feelings for now. Call Lily back."

Edward had no choice but to listen to Patrick. He gritted his teeth and dialed Lily's number, but...

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer in service. Please..."

"Damn it!" Edward muttered as he hung up the phone, clenching his fists. He hadn't expected that Lily could vanish without a trace, even canceling her phone number.

On the way out of Riverside Villa, Evelyn was constantly bothered by her second brother, Simon Taylor's off-key humming.

Now back to being Evelyn Taylor, she scolded Simon, "You're this happy about my divorce? So happy that you're singing off-key?"

He grinned and said, "Of course, but the happiest one isn't me, it's Landon. Otherwise, he wouldn't have lent me this car. Evelyn, let me tell you, Landon has hired a drone team to perform for you, congratulating you on escaping misery."

Evelyn waved her hand weakly, "Forget it, I'm not in the mood."

She took one last look at her phone, which had only one recent message.

[Even if you marry Edward shamelessly, it won't matter. He doesn't love you. It's good you left on your own. Otherwise, I would have embarrassed you and made sure you lost the title of Mrs. Wellington sooner or later.]

Simon said, "Still upset over that jerk Edward, Evelyn? You've just seen too few men, that's why you were charmed by Edward. Once you're back as Evelyn Taylor, you can find any man you want."

Opening the car window, Evelyn removed the SIM card and threw it out forcefully. From this moment on, Lily no longer existed.

"So carefree, it seems you've really moved on."

"Once I've made up my mind, I never look back." Evelyn let the wind blow away her last tear for Edward. She opened her eyes again, leaving everything behind without looking back.

Tonight, Riverside Villa was destined to be anything but peaceful. What should have been a happy family dinner was now just Nicole and Patrick's wife, Tiffany Reed, awkwardly sitting at the table.

With Byron in the hospital, they had wanted to go along, hoping to make a good impression in the hospital room. But the old butler politely said, "Ms. Adams, it's better if you don't come. Or I'm afraid Mr. Wellington will be even more upset if he wakes up."

"Lily has left, how can she still be such a nuisance?" Jealousy flashed in Nicole's eyes.

Tiffany comforted Nicole, "After all, Lily was Byron's granddaughter-in-law for three years. She may not have gotten along with Edward, but Byron treated her like his own granddaughter. Don't worry. With the divorce agreement now signed, the finalization of the divorce will make it irrevocable."

"No, I can't accept this. I need to find Lily and make trouble for her." Nicole took out her phone and dialed a number, "Have you tracked down the blue Porsche Lily got into?"

"Yeah, Ms. Adams, it's the car of the KnightSpear Group's president."

She asked, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, his car is rarely seen in public, so we can confirm that's his car."

The president of KnightSpear Group? Wasn't that Landon of the Taylor family? How could Lily, a full-time housewife with no money, no skills, and a small social circle, have any connection with him? But this news wasn't necessarily bad for her.

Thinking of this, Nicole immediately had someone drive her to the hospital to see Edward.

Coincidentally, she ran into Edward coming down the stairs as she got out of the car.

Edward was surprised, "Didn't I tell you not to come?"

Nicole was unhappy, "I just got back, you already don't want to see me?" She pretended to be weak, her arms trembling.

"How could that be? I just didn't want Grandpa to be upset and make you suffer." Edward took off his coat and carefully draped it over Nicole's shoulders.

"Didn't you learn to take care of yourself in Mythorica? You should wear more clothes when you go out at night. Get back in the car."

Nicole curled her lips slightly, but her face still looked tearful, "If it weren't for me, Mr. Byron Wellington wouldn't be in the hospital. Maybe we should let Lily come back..."
