Chapter 4: She is my wife
A few minutes later, the car stopped in front of a large mansion. The entrance is cobblestone. Colorful flowers surround the walls. While David pulled the car into the garage, Ella stood watching the mansion. She had never seen a house as beautiful as David's. To the right is the swimming pool. On the left is a long road, planted with many trees. A feeling of suspense welled up in her heart. After a while, they asked, and she knew how to answer.
David stepped forward and grabbed Ella's hand, startling her. "Hey, friend. How dare you?" She was angry, she said.
"You forget we're acting as husband and wife. It's normal for a husband to hold his wife's hand."
Ella reluctantly rested her hand in David's large palm. Her face seemed stiff.
David raised his voice. "You should be relaxed, natural, comfortable. Your expression will make people suspicious."
Hearing his explanation, Ella took a deep breath, changing her expression. She smiled lovingly at David. Then the two of them entered the courtyard. The view of the villa is amazingly beautiful. There is also a bowling alley, a helipad, and an outdoor cinema. Ella feels like being lost in a magnificent castle.
When David and Ella entered the living room, the people who were chatting in the living room suddenly fell silent, looking in their direction.
"Why are you late today? Who is this girl?" Mrs. Emma - David's mother - pointed at Ella, and asked in a surprised voice.
Before David could speak, a young girl spoke up. "I know. She's his brother's girlfriend." Yes, the girl who just spoke was David's sister - Rika.
As if to prove what Rika said was correct, David admitted. "Right." He brought Ella in front of the oldest man in the family - Mr. Harry. "Grandpa, she's my wife."
Mrs. Emma was so surprised she was about to jump off the sofa. "What? Are you kidding us? You never mentioned having a girlfriend, why bring in a wife?"
"Emma, calm down." Mr. Harry carefully reminded his daughter-in-law, then looked at Ella. "Please introduce yourself."
Ella bowed politely to all the elders. She speaks. "My name is Ella, I am twenty years old."
"Hi Ella, welcome to our family." Mr. Harry looked at the girl for a moment, then nodded.
"Father, why are you accepting this? We don't know anything about her, David doesn't even say." Mr. Roy - David's father - is disgruntled.
Mrs. Emma agrees. "My husband is right, father. We don't know her background. How can she match her nephew Anthony - a noble family, the richest in X city? The media knows. It will affect the honor of our family."
"Why do you distinguish between rich and poor? No matter what Ella's background is, as long as they truly love each other, I will accept it. David is an adult, he has the right to choose his life and love. We can only stand behind them." Mr. Harry said fairly.
"OK." Mrs.'s face Emma softened. She looked at Ella, asking. "What do you do, where do you live, who are in your family?"
"I..." Ella stammered.
David intervened. "Ella works in the same company as me, her mother died early, and she lives with her father."
Mrs. Emma rolled her eyes. "I'm not asking you, I'm asking Ella. Why are you answering for Ella? Let her answer for herself, she's not dumb."
Ella looked at David and caught his secret wink, she understood that it was necessary to say exactly what he had said earlier.
"I'm an employee at David's company, I work in the marketing department. I live with my father... in an apartment." Ella felt guilty about lying.
"How long have you known each other?" Mrs. Emma asked.
"A year."
"Six months."
David and Ella spoke at the same time.
"A year or six months after all?" Mrs. Emma asked back in annoyance.
"A year," David replied.
Ella laughed, scratching her head. "That's right, a year. I remember wrong."
"Why did you only introduce yourself until now? Why are you secretly getting married? Or... is she pregnant?"
David waved his hand. "No, mom. Because we're both busy, I don't have time to take her home. We have registered our marriage. After everything is fine, we will hold a wedding ceremony. If not, we will have a wedding ceremony. Anything else, I'll take my wife up to the room." David took Ella's hand and led her toward the stairs.
In the living room, people are still talking.
"I was planning to introduce Jenny to David tomorrow, but..." Mrs. Emma regrets this. On the outside, she seems to accept Ella but on the inside, she doesn't.
"It's fine for me to see Ella, mom," Rika said. She is happy to have Ella appear. Everyone is old at home, she can't talk to anyone her age, so she's happy to have a new member of the family.
"Shut up. Don't say if you don't know." Mrs. Emma scoffed.
"Why scold Rika? What's her fault? David getting married is fun, we are his relatives, we should support and bless." Mr. Harry said.
"Grandpa is the best." Rika gave a thumbs up to her grandfather.
Mr. Roy and Mrs. Emma were not happy, they did not dare to offend Mr. Harry.
Villa Anthony is very large, built in the French style. Beige brick wall. Each bedroom has a separate bathroom and balcony. The windows that open are all beautiful views with glorious sunrises and sunsets.
David opened the door to a room. Ella looked around his bedroom, and couldn't help but marvel. It's twice the size of her home in the countryside.
"From now on you will stay with me, in this room. You sleep on the bed, I will sleep on the sofa." David took off his coat.
"I need reassurance that... midnight... you won't... do something..." Ella stammered.
David understood what she meant. "Don't worry. I've never touched a woman in my life except for my mother and sister."
"Are you 'allergic' to women?" Ella chuckled.
"No. I just don't like it. I just share a bed with... my wife. I mean the official wife and you... just the contract wife."
