Chapter 6 Am I Interrupting Something?
The living room suddenly fell into silence.
Noticing the pain in her wrist, Sharon frowned and looked at Alex, whose face had turned extremely grim.
Seb's gaze lingered on Alex's bulging veins for a second before he indifferently looked away.
At this moment, Alex's aunt, Sara Smith, sneered, "Sharon, you and Alex are still young, but you've been married for a few years now. Have you two thought about having a baby? And let's not forget, it was Alex who insisted on marrying you. Do you ever wonder if your background would have fit into the Smith family without his persistence? Just a thought. If you're not ready for a baby, there are plenty of eager women out there. Time waits for no one, dear."
Sara thought, 'Moreover, Who knows whether Sharon doesn't want to have a child or she's unable to?'
Sara appeared to be speaking earnestly, but her eyes were filled with contempt and superiority as she looked at Sharon.
Sandra frowned and said disapprovingly, "Sara, say no more."
Sara pouted but didn't say anything further.
Sandra looked at Sharon with a kind smile. "Sharon, you two are still young. You can consider having a baby in a couple of years. But work is just to pass the time; don't overwork yourself."
Sharon nodded warmly. "I know, Grandma."
The living room then returned to its previous harmony.
When no one was paying attention, Alex directly pulled Sharon out of the living room.
In the gazebo in the backyard, Alex coldly said, "Sharon, are you trying to let everyone in the family know about our arguments?"
Sharon rubbed her sore hand and said softly, "I was just telling the truth."
Alex looked at her with a grim expression. "Then should I call and inform your father?"
Sharon glared at Alex. "Don't you dare!"
She planned to divorce Alex first and then find an opportunity to tell her father, Robert Wright, about it.
A flash of guilt appeared in Alex's eyes, but it quickly turned into impatience.
Alex said, "What do you want? I've already promised you that I won't cheat again, and I'll fire Ava."
Sharon felt she couldn't communicate with him at all, her eyes reddening. "I don't want to argue with you here."
Alex sighed and softened his tone to coax her, "Sharon, I really know I was wrong. Can we not talk about divorce? I love you and can't let you leave me."
Sharon thought with a bitter smile, 'How shameless Alex can be. He said he loves me, yet he slept with Ava. Just thinking about it makes me feel disgusted.'
"I can never forgive you," said Sharon. He had crossed her bottom line and betrayed her; she couldn't pretend nothing had happened.
Alex sensed Sharon's enduring feelings and resolved to approach her with care. He held onto the belief that by not consenting to the divorce, she might forgive him in time.
Alex said, "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. As for having a baby, we can postpone it for two years. Tomorrow, I'll have my secretary arrange a position for you at the Smith Group."
Sharon couldn't help but laugh out loud, looking at him with a mocking expression. "Alex, Do you see me as someone you can control?"
Hearing her mocking laugh, Alex couldn't help but frown. "What's still not right? You don't want to have a baby, so I agreed to postpone it for two years. You want to work, so I arranged it for you. What else are you dissatisfied with?"
Sharon said, "Fine, let me make it clearer. I don't want to have a baby because I want to divorce you. I want to work to completely sever ties with you. Understand?"
Alex looked down at Sharon, her stubborn expression making him somewhat displeased.
He said, "As long as I don't agree, there won't be a divorce. And you have no evidence to prove I cheated."
His expression was confident, even carrying an air of arrogant control.
Sharon looked at him in disbelief, trembling with anger. She thought, 'How could Alex be so shameless? Beneath that gentle facade lies a selfish and repugnant nature. I have loved him for eight years, from eighteen to twenty-six, the prime of my life.'
"Alex, you disgust me!" Her eyes revealed undisguised loathing.
Alex's pupils contracted sharply. He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Sharon, I don't want to hear such words again."
His Sharon should love him for a lifetime. Even if he made a mistake, he wouldn't allow her to look at him with such eyes.
Sharon slapped his hand away in disgust. "Don't touch me. You're disgusting!"
"Disgusting?" Alex sneered, stepping forward to tightly embrace Sharon's waist, pinning her against the wall, and leaning in to kiss her.
Sharon's mouth only spoke words of hatred, so he had to shut her up.
Sharon couldn't push him away no matter how hard she tried, so she turned her head aside.
As Alex's warm lips touched her cheek, she felt so disgusted that goosebumps rose all over her body. She gritted her teeth and said, "Let go of me!"
Alex said, "As long as you stop saying those hurtful things, I'll let you go."
Sharon mocked, "You betrayed me. Why can't I say it?"
"Then I'll have to use my own way to shut you up." Alex forcefully grabbed her chin and kissed her hard.
Just as his lips were about to touch Sharon's, a light cough suddenly sounded from behind, "Alex, am I interrupting something?"
Alex's face turned extremely grim, his grip on Sharon's chin tightening involuntarily before he let go after a few seconds and turned to face Seb.
Seb glanced at him with a half-smile. Alex could only force a smile and ask, "Seb, what do you need?"
"Your grandmother asked me to call you for dinner," Seb said with a smirk.
"Alright, thank you, Seb," Alex replied.
"No problem, but Alex, while you're at the Smith Manor, more careful with your actions." Seb's teasing tone was accompanied by a casual glance at Sharon's reddened chin.
Alex frowned and stepped forward to block her from view.
