Chapter 2: She Doesn't Want a Divorce!

Earlier outside the private room, the music was too loud for Mary to hear Matthew's conversation with that girl clearly. At this moment, Matthew's deep and magnetic voice came from above her head, so clear that it struck her heart, leaving her breathless with pain.

Matthew could speak now. But he didn't tell Mary at once.

In fact, he even wanted to divorce Mary.

The conversation Mary overheard outside the private room was real. But why? Why did Matthew want a divorce? Mary wanted to ask Matthew, but she held back. Why did Matthew think he could divorce her so easily?

Mary had done nothing wrong to Matthew in the past year. Even if he wanted a divorce, he should give her a reason!

Mary's heart was cold, but she still craved the warmth of Matthew's body, holding him tighter.

"Yeah, I heard you talking to someone, but I didn't hear what you said. Matt, your voice is really nice."

Mary kissed Matthew's back. She didn't tell him everything she knew. Maybe she still held a glimmer of hope, thinking that they could live happily as before. "Matt" was her nickname for him, and she only busted it out when they're tight as can be. And every time he hears it, he responds with even crazier antics.

But tonight, Matthew pushed her away. "I'm tired."

Mary's face turned grim. She looked at Matthew's straight back and suddenly got angry.

"But I want it, Matthew. You're my husband. You should do what a husband needs to do!"

Why was Matthew tired? Had he already had sex with that girl?

Matthew seemed surprised by Mary's sudden assertiveness. He hesitated for a moment. Mary's soft hands were already wandering over his body, and soon, his breathing became heavier.

Matthew's body was honest; he had always been unable to resist Mary's teasing.

A dark glint flashed in Matthew's eyes. He turned around, grabbed her chin, and kissed her.

Mary instinctively closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling lightly.

Her tense body relaxed, and the temperature in the bathroom quickly rose.

"Mary, we..."

"I'm tired, and I'm going to sleep!" Mary interrupted Matthew, walking straight out of the bathroom.

What did Matthew want to say? Was he going to tell her he wanted a divorce?

Mary wouldn't agree! They had been together for a year, and she had long fallen in love with Matthew. Why is he able to talk now and just get a divorce with her?

Matthew couldn't do this to her!

Matthew watched Mary's stubborn back, a hint of helplessness flickering in his eyes.

The next day, when Mary woke up, Matthew was already gone. She panicked and hurried out of bed to look for him.

They lived in a two-bedroom apartment that Mary had bought at the cost of years of hard work. After she married Matthew, the place became warm and cozy.

Mary had fantasized that their future would be better and better. Matthew was very capable so that they could learn everything quickly. Mary had once told Matthew that he would surely make a lot of money in the future and afford a bigger house. Matthew had seriously nodded and agreed at that time.

They still had so many dreams to fulfill. Matthew couldn't leave!

Mary searched the room frantically like a headless chicken, her face growing paler. Just then, the door opened, and Matthew walked in with breakfast.

Seeing him, Mary immediately rushed over and hugged him tightly, as if she was afraid he would run away.

Matthew was startled and asked, "What's wrong?"

Mary looked up, gazing into his deep eyes. "We'll always be together, right?"

Matthew fell silent.
