Chapter 6- The Conference

ARIANA'S POV

I went through my desktop as I looked at the profile of my annoying assistant. I didn't know what my grandfather saw in him, when the only thing that was there to see was incompetency.

The way my grandpa spoke about him at dinner last night infuriated me, he speaks about him all the time and I didn't like it one bit.

He thought he was something special, let's see how he's going to survive working with me, I'm going to make his life a living hell and there was no escape out of this hell cause he asked for it when he signed that contract.

A notification popped on my screen reminding me of the conference I had in thirty minutes.

I moved from my assistant's profile to see how much work I could get done before I go for the conference. Not enough time.

A knock came on the door and I knew it was that stupid man.

“ Come in," I grudgingly said.

The door opened and he walked in.

“ Don't knock on my door so loud," I said and he just watched me but I could tell there were many thoughts going through his mind but he didn't dare say it out, not like I cared to know.

“ What do you want?" I asked even if I knew what he was here for.

“ It's time for the press conference," he said.

“ Don't think I'm so dumb and forgetful, I know,” I said as I got up from my chair.

" Arrange my bag and put every important thing I need, don't forget a thing, and please be careful with the bag, it's expensive,” I said and he walked to my table and started arranging my bag.

I started walking to the door but when I reached the door, I stopped and turned to him.

“ This office needs to be changed, the interior and everything, make sure that you see to it before the end of the week,” I said but didn't get any response.

" Did I just talk to someone?” I asked as I turned to him.

“ Yes ma'am," he forced through his teeth.

“ Good, now let's go," I said before walking out of my office.

I could feel a sharp stare in the elevator and I knew it was coming from him, it wasn't like I give a fuck.

When we reached the ground floor we both walked out and I could see some of my employees that were talking immediately dispatched themselves as they saw me. They should be working not standing around like people playing stand by characters in a movie scene.

I'll deal with them some other time.

My assistant opened the door and I got in but just when he was about to enter I closed the door. He should use the other side.

The other side of the door opened and he entered before the driver started the car and drove off heading to where the press conference would be held.

It would be held in a five star hotel in one of the halls. When we got there the driver parked the car and my assistant quickly got out and came to open the door.

Then we walked into the hotel together.

Reporters were already waiting and as soon as I entered, the cameras started flashing and I gave my most charming smile then a young man led me to the stage where a chair was kept and I was directed to sit.

Immediately I sat down, the questions started coming.

“ Thank you miss Miller for your time, the first question I'd like to ask you is how do you feel about being made the CEO at such a young age?” A reporter asked.

" Thank you for that question, well in life you have to plan for everything, I've been raised into my family business and I love my family and all I want is for us to keep growing and now that I have the chance to do that, I will, age is nothing compared to the passion I have for what my family stands for, and I'll do my best, so I could say I feel honored that my family choose me.” I said as the cameras kept flashing.

The next question came.

“ Are you going to be the CEO of Miller's Cooperation for a long time or you're the acting CEO?" Another reporter asked. I fought hard to avoid rolling my eyes, what type of stupid question was that.

“ I believe I just got announced as the new CEO right?" I asked.

" But Miss Miller, everyone expected Garry Miller to be the new CEO. Why did they choose you?” Garry hired that particular reporter; nobody could tell me otherwise.

" Well, it's not hard to see competency and that's what my grandfather saw in me and age has nothing to do with it,” I said with a smirk with my head held high.

Well, my grandpa wanted me to do a press conference and I've done just that, I don't think I was in the mood to answer any more questions.

But just as I was about to stand up, a question put me back on my seat.

“ The position you are in right now is as a result of your father's death, would you have wanted things to be different?" What the fuck was that?

My eyes tried to trace the reporter that asked that question and there he was with curiosity waiting for me to answer his goddamn question.

I clenched my hands by my side as I forced a smile.

“ If you're asking if I'm happy that my dad is dead the answer is no. That would be all I'll be answering, thank you so much everyone for making our time to come, excuse me," I said.

I got up and was about to walk down the stage when I felt something hard hit my head as pain shot through my head. My hand quickly touched my head and I felt something warm in my hands.

Blood.
