Chapter 4 You Could All Just Call Me John
John said, "Well, my Beast Taming level is now at level one."
As soon as he said this, both of them looked over.
With a thought, a golden Slime appeared in John's hand.
Every Beast Tamer had a dedicated Beast Taming space where their contract spirit usually resided.
Previously, John had only kept the Slime as a decorative pet at home.
"Indeed."
The two felt the strength of the Slime, which had already become a level-one contract spirit.
Once a Beast Tamer's level increased, the contract spirit's strength also improved, with all attributes getting a boost.
If the contract spirit's potential rating was high, it might even awaken new talents or skills.
The last time John made a choice, he received a moderate reward for his Beast Taming ability, which allowed him to advance to a level one Beast Tamer.
Sebastian asked, "Mr. Hughes, is everything okay now?"
Sebastian expected his son to level up with him noticing.
It seemed John wasn't joking after all.
Wesley replied, "Alright, since you insist, I'll talk to the school."
John and Sebastian left the office satisfied.
Wesley said, "I really don't know if this is a good or bad thing."
Wesley sighed and was about to light another cigarette. "Where's my lighter on the desk? Damn it, Sebastian stole my lighter again."
John returned to the class, and many classmates immediately surrounded him, asking what had happened.
When they confirmed that John was unharmed, they felt disappointed.
"I thought you'd get punished this time," David sighed disappointedly.
"Punished? I wasn't punished," John laughed and scolded David, then went to his seat.
"Did Wesley spare you from punishment?" someone asked.
John replied, "Of course he did. Mr. Hughes insisted I join the Beast Tamer Class. I told him I didn't want to go, that I just wanted to be an ordinary person and had no interest in becoming powerful, but he kept persuading me."
"Get lost!"
The surrounding classmates scoffed and turned back to their seats, ignoring him.
Seeing this, John laughed even more happily and couldn't help but say loudly. "This really makes me happy."
But he was met with disdainful looks from the entire class.
Everyone was clearly used to John's personality.
The bell rang for class.
The students all sat up straight, took out their textbooks, and waited for the lesson to begin.
But it wasn't Wesley who walked in; it was a refined-looking male teacher.
"Who is John? Come out for a moment," the male teacher called out.
John slowly stood up, deliberately coughing a few times to make his presence known, and then slowly walked out of the classroom.
"That's the Beast Tamer Class teacher. John might really be going to another class to study."
"It seems true. He originally had Beast Taming talent, but his contract spirit's rating was too low, so he chose to give up."
"Looks like this class will become more harmonious."
The classmates whispered among themselves, and the atmosphere in the class became noticeably more cheerful.
"Is it you? Have you recovered?" The male teacher outside the classroom was Mr. Harper, who had seen John wandering around last Saturday.
He was also the homeroom teacher of Beast Taming Class 5.
John thought for a moment and said, "Not fully recovered yet."
Harper looked speechless. "Mr. Hughes asked me to inform you to pack your books this afternoon and come directly to Beast Taming Class 5 for lessons."
John asked, "Mr. Adams, why Beast Taming Class 5? What about the homeroom teacher of Class 1?"
"Don't overthink it," Harper finally couldn't hold back.
Beast Taming Class 1 was for the top students in the grade, and every student's contract spirit was at least D-level.
Unlike ordinary students, the competition in the Beast Tamer Class was extremely fierce.
There were five Beast Taming classes in total, divided based on the students' overall performance.
The goal was to cultivate a sense of competition among the students, which would make them more eager to improve their strength.
John initially wanted to enter Beast Taming Class 1, which was naturally impossible.
Being able to enter Beast Taming Class 5 was already quite a stretch.
John sighed. Beast Taming Class 5 was fine. His strength would eventually improve anyway.
One choice had made him a level-one Beast Tamer. With a few more options, he might become even stronger.
In the afternoon, John packed all his belongings and waited outside the Beast Taming Class 5 classroom.
"Classmates, today our Beast Taming Class 5 will welcome a new student. He is John, from the regular class. Let's give him a warm welcome!" Harper, with his black-framed glasses, announced, gesturing for John outside the classroom to come in.
John greeted, "Hello everyone, I'm John from General Class Three."
John walked in with his hands behind his back, like a leader inspecting.
John said, "I'm healthy, handsome, and have no bad habits! I'm also proficient in many subjects and a reliable person! You can call me John."
The classroom fell into silence. No one had anticipated that John's self-introduction would be so entertaining.
Harper said, "Alright! Alright! That's enough!"
Harper had a forced smile on his face, feeling quite embarrassed.
The influx of many mischievous students into Beast Taming Class 5 had made the class progressively more challenging to handle.
John said, "Mr. Adams, I haven't finished my introduction."
"John, your seat is over there," Harper pointed to a seat at the back of the classroom.
If he heard John speak again, he might get very angry.
Just as Mr. Hughes had warned, John was not an obedient student.
John looked regretful. He had prepared a self-introduction full of self-praise, but unfortunately, he had not finished it.
He carried a stack of books to his seat, and many people looked at him.
John smiled and nodded at them in a very friendly manner.
The number of students in the Beast Tamer Class was fixed, with only twenty-four students per class.
But now, with John's addition, Beast Taming Class 5 became the only special class in the grade with an additional student.
Harper said, "Let's start the lesson. John, you're new here, so try to catch up with the class as soon as possible."
With that, Harper regained his serious expression and began the afternoon lesson.
Harper added. "Take out your textbooks. Today, we will do the test questions inside. This is the assessment for this time, so I hope everyone will take it seriously!"
"An assessment so soon? I'm not ready yet," John muttered.
