Chapter 6 Novice Exclusion Technique

The pointer spun rapidly on the Roulette, gradually coming to a stop on the pistol.

William shrugged. This pistol, with two magazines, actually ranked third, while the short crossbow was fourth. The luck with these two items was not bad, but he hadn't landed on a One-Star Evolution Potion, leaving him somewhat dissatisfied.

"Give it a try," he said.

Luck played a significant role with the Roulette, and William wanted to see Sienna's luck.

"Can I?" Sienna asked.

After receiving a positive response, Sienna excitedly followed William's lead, installing pieces of First-Level Magic Crystal into the slots, nervously watching the Roulette start to spin, hands clasped together in prayer for good fortune.

The pointer stopped, and William blinked twice, looking at this woman whose sweat smelled unusually pleasant, feeling somewhat shocked.

It was because the pointer was pointing at the card!

What kind of luck was this?

The card was the best reward in this Roulette. William had prepared himself to spin a dozen or more times, but who would have thought that the card would be drawn on the third attempt? Perhaps it could be said that Sienna drew it on her first try.

Sienna not only would have great strength in the future, but her luck seemed excessively good.

"What... what is this? A card?"

Sienna felt a bit disheartened and extremely sorry for William. What use was a card, especially when there was only one card? It would have been better to draw that pack of chewing gum. At least then, he could chew on it for a while.

At this moment, William ignored Sienna, excitedly picking up the lucky skill card, eager to discover what kind of ability awaited him.

It was a Novice Exclusion Technique (upgradable with upgrade cards). Each time the Doomsday Roulette was spun, one unwanted option could be eliminated.

Damn!

It was too powerful!

William, at the fastest speed in his life, quickly crushed the card with detailed explanations, learning the Novice Exclusion Technique.

This skill seemed to only slightly increase the chances of obtaining good items, but one must understand that the higher the level of the Roulette, the more difficult it was to obtain advanced Magic Crystals. A Second-Level zombie could easily take down three adult men, while zombies, monsters, or mutants above Fifth-Level were practically so strong! When spinning a higher-level Roulette, forgot about increasing the chances by a fraction or a dozen fractions. Even if it increased by one percent, it would be something everyone dreamed of!

Moreover, this was only the Novice Exclusion Technique. What about the Intermediate Exclusion Technique? Could it eliminate two unwanted options at once or even more?

The value of this card definitely exceeded that of a First-Level reward, and William even thought it could reach the level of a Second-Level or even Third-Level reward. He thought, ‘How could this woman's luck be so good!’

"You did well. This is for your protection."

William handed the short crossbow to Sienna and equipped the pistol himself.

She thought she had wasted seven precious Magic Crystals, but unexpectedly, she was praised and even received a weapon. It stunned Sienna for a while until she realized that the card might not be so simple.

The first night of the apocalypse arrived, and William leaned against the wall of the villa's rooftop, chewing on a can of fruit, savoring the stimulation of this artificial food on his taste buds, which had become incredibly vague in his memory.

Before his rebirth, William would never have eaten such a luxury item. Even if he had spun it on the Roulette, he would have exchanged it for something else. Compared to the most basic need of sating his hunger, canned fruit was more about satisfying his nostalgic mindset for the past.

At that time, William did not have that privilege.

Compared to these sweet and sour snacks, he needed more dry rations, bullets, potions, medical kits, and other essentials.

After his rebirth, at the beginning of the apocalypse, these items were not extremely scarce, so he could afford to eat them.

Looking at the still lit-up neighborhood, William knew that there were probably survivors there, but he had no intention of rescuing them. Struggling to survive in the apocalypse for ten years had taught him that kindness did not always lead to good outcomes.

A law of the apocalypse that people often spoke of was that good people didn't live long.

"Is this a One-Star Evolution Potion?" Sienna brought two crystal glasses and held a bottle of red wine in her other hand. After skillfully opening it and pouring a glass for William, she pointed to the bottle of pale green liquid next to William.

William nodded. Before dark, he had gone out again and killed six zombies. After using the Novice Exclusion Technique, Sienna struck it lucky and drew the One-Star Evolution Potion.

Sienna asked, "The card you drew disappeared from the Roulette. Now it only takes six First-Level Magic Crystals to spin once. How does this Doomsday Roulette work? It's so magical."

After drawing the card for the Novice Exclusion Technique, this somewhat magical ability option disappeared. This was a feature of the Doomsday Roulette.

This was also one of the reasons why Sienna was able to draw the One-Star enhancement potion. Originally, there were ten options. One disappeared, leaving nine. Then William used the Novice Exclusion Technique to eliminate another, leaving only eight. With an eighth chance, the future Nine-Star Powerhouse succeeded.

Generally, in a Roulette, each option had a level. People categorized the rewards of the Roulette into common, rare, epic, and legendary, similar to some games before the apocalypse.

For example, the Novice Exclusion Technique should belong to the epic category. Of course, among epic items, it should be considered average in quality, as it was non-combat related and had limited usage conditions.

Both epic and legendary items had a common characteristic. Once someone drew them on the Roulette, they would disappear and be disposable.

However, this character was not absolute. Before his rebirth, William had heard many rumors about epic and legendary items that disappeared for a long time reappearing. It seemed that they only disappeared for a while before reappearing, just like the drop rate of equipment in games, albeit with a low probability.

William had considered this issue and had a faint guess. When these epic and legendary rewards reappeared, was it possible that the person who had previously drawn that reward on the Roulette had died? So, the reward appeared again?

However, this was just a guess, and he did not have the ability to confirm it.

"Why aren't you using it? Does this thing have any side effects?" Sienna's eyes were a bit envious of these pale green potions. After seeing the miserable scene in the neighborhood, she fully accepted the reality of the world changed by the apocalypse and was curious about this magical Doomsday Roulette.

Watching William skillfully kill zombies and harvest Magic Crystals, her desire for power began to intensify. When she drew the One-Star Evolution Potion earlier, she even screamed with excitement.

William smiled, "It's time for you to do what I asked you to do."
