From doctor to Bussiness man

The condition of the VIP ward was much better than that of the ordinary ward. It felt like a home away from home. The room was designed as a single occupancy, but it was more than just a room. It was a complete set, with a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom combined with a toilet. It could be described as a mini house, a place where one could almost forget they were in a hospital.

The ward had a breathtaking view of Liverpool from the balcony. On the other side, opening the window revealed a vast, scenic landscape. The usual hospital sterilizing scent was replaced with a refreshing fragrance from the air freshener, making the atmosphere more inviting.

As I stood there, taking in the room, a doctor approached and bowed slightly. "Miss Alice, we hope Kyle is comfortable. If you need any help, please let us know."

I wasn't used to this newfound respect and quickly replied, "We are satisfied, thank you."

The doctor, who seemed to be the leader, looked relieved. "That's good. Then we won't disturb your rest. If you need anything, press the service bell, and someone will come to assist you."

Kyle looked at me with a questioning expression, as if asking if all this was provided by Gaston. He still didn't know that Gaston and I had broken up.

"It's not him," I said, more to myself than to Kyle.

I frowned in confusion. I couldn't figure out the situation. Gaston had ended things with me, so there was no way he would be this kind, especially with Judy still pregnant. It couldn't possibly be my uncle, Mr. Carter, either. He didn't have this much conscience, and even if he did, he couldn't afford such luxury for a day. It would cost half of our entire family’s net worth.

No one from the Lewiston family could afford this, even with a loan. So who was this invisible benefactor?

Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it to find a male nurse standing outside. "Miss Alice, the Chairman would like to speak with you regarding your brother's health. Please come with me."

I was even more surprised now. "Your Chairman wants to see me?"

"Yes," he confirmed.

As I followed the nurse to the Chairman's office, my mind raced with questions. Who was this Chairman, and what could he possibly want to discuss with me? The nurse led me out of the door and gently knocked on the office door. From inside, a young voice responded, "Yes, come in."

I was taken aback by how young the voice sounded. The young doctor opened the door, and I stepped in gingerly. Inside, I was met by a very young, handsome man sitting at a desk behind a pile of neatly stacked files. He looked quite gentlemanly with a pair of silver glasses on the bridge of his nose.

This was the Chairman?

I was lost in thought, staring at him, until he spoke and brought me back to reality. "Miss Alice?"

The Chairman, Ryu Ken, looked at me for a few moments, seemingly surprised. Was this the lady who had captivated President Enzo Clinton in just one night? A feat no one else had achieved? Regardless, I could tell he found me rather beautiful, even though I wasn't dressed up. My natural beauty couldn't be hidden. I looked to be in my twenties, with facial features that could pass for a runway model.

After a moment, he smiled. "Miss Alice, there's no need for formalities between us. We're all young people here, so feel free to talk openly with me."

I nodded and sat down with a smile. "Chairman, I heard you wanted to discuss my brother's condition. Are there any changes or concerns?" I asked without hesitation.

Ryu Ken sipped from his coffee cup and chuckled softly. "Well, there are both problems and changes."

I became restless. "How so?"

"Your brother needs to undergo a heart transplant as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we've missed the optimal time frame for the surgery since his condition was diagnosed," he explained.

Fear gripped me. "Missed the optimal time frame? What does that mean for his chances of getting the transplant in the future?"

"It's still possible, but any delay increases the risks," Ryu Ken said gravely. "The success of the surgery also depends on who performs it. I know of someone highly skilled in this procedure. If he gets involved, your brother's recovery rate could be as high as 90%. However..."

My heart, already in panic, found a glimmer of hope. "However, what?"

"He's not a practicing doctor. He's a businessman who hasn't practiced medicine in many years," Ryu Ken admitted reluctantly.

The ray of hope that had just ignited dimmed immediately. A businessman, not a doctor? What kind of help could he offer?

But faced with Kyle's life hanging in the balance, I couldn't afford to dismiss any possibility. Summoning newfound resolve, I looked Ryu Ken in the eye. "Chairman, could you please give me his contact information? I need to speak with him."

A smile flickered across Ryu Ken's face, though he seemed conflicted. After a moment of hesitation, he handed me a business card. "Here's his information. But please, don't mention that I referred you."

Gratefully, I took the card, holding it as if it were my lifeline. "Thank you so much, Chairman. I won't forget your kindness."
