I covered my mouth as I looked at the scene on the bed; the two people stopped and stared at me with embarrassed expressions. I immediately covered my eyes.

"I'm so sorry," I murmured.

"Anne, what are you doing?" Will questioned, exasperated.

I felt two people approaching us.

"Anne, did you find...?" Carolina stopped abruptly. "Oh my God!"

It was Will and Ale who were in... that situation. But we didn't know what Kayler might do; I looked at him and also at Ale, who was covered up to her nose with the sheet.

"Well, well," Kayler said, arms crossed.

"Anne, I was going to tell you that Apolo is downstairs looking for you too," Caro whispered to me. I looked at her.

"I'll see you downstairs," I said, smiling.

I walked quickly downstairs, taking the steps two at a time. The music here was louder. I scanned the room for Apolo, and suddenly, hands covered my eyes. Judging by the scent, I knew who it was. I placed my hands on his and gently removed them, turning to face him.

Apolo wore a black jacket, and his gaze wasn't quite the same as usual. I ignored that and hugged him.

"Where were you?" I asked, pulling away.

He scratched his neck nervously.

"You know there are some things that need to be done..." he began, guiding me towards the drink area. "I've been checking into some things about the neighboring pack. Some are undecided about winter. This time, there are no easy prey."

I looked at him questioningly as we sat on benches.

"Well, I'm not much into understanding all that, but..." I started, but he interrupted.

"You don't have to understand... I just need you to be with me, okay?"

I nodded, smiling at him.

He gave me a tender kiss on the lips, and I accepted it confidently.

After spending more than five hours at the party, dancing and drinking — well, that's what other people did; I'm not much of a dancer or a drinker — Apolo stayed with me all night. He parked the car in front of my house and gave me a goodbye kiss. We'd meet at the cemetery tomorrow.

I waited until Apolo's car was far enough away before entering the house. I turned around and jumped when I saw a guy behind me, watching me, his hands in the front pockets of his pants.

I was startled.

"Who are you?" I asked, heart racing.

He grinned mischievously.

"My name is Thomas," he replied. "I saw you at the party today," he commented, taking a step closer. "You seem like a very pretty girl."

I widened my eyes in surprise and blinked several times. Pretty me? Nah.

"Thanks?" I replied, more of a question.

He smirked.

"It's a shame you're with Apolo. He's not worthy of you," he said, moving even closer.

I frowned and laughed; this guy was funny.

"You don't even know me. Don't talk; find out first," I retorted, trying to move past him to go home, but he grabbed my arm. I glared at him.

"I think we'll see each other on Tuesday at school," he said, letting go.

He goes to my school? How come I haven't seen him before?

"I've never seen you..." I murmured.

He smiled and started walking down the road, then turned back to me.

"See you, little Anne," he turned and, with a jump, turned into a wolf and ran off into the darkness of the streets.

I opened my mouth, utterly confused, then closed it. Thomas is a werewolf! And why do I feel like this will bring trouble?

The cold cemetery was turning white as snowflakes fell gently on the graves, on the people who were no longer with us. Those of us who knew about Paige's death were here with Mr. Mike, after all, she was his daughter. I wore a hat on my head, a cream-colored jacket, black jeans, and knee-high boots.

Apolo was with me, our hands intertwined. Carolina was beside me with Kayler. She also wore a hat for the cold, her hair loose, black pants, and a coat, hers in brown. Her nose was red from the cold. I looked at Paige's grave. She was a bad person, but here we are leaving her flowers.

Half an hour later, we were heading towards our cars. Carolina's mom had left with Mike. My brother was somewhat sad because Carla had left, and Gregory was the same with Vanesa. They both had to go back, but they would come for visits often. Kenzie would live with Carolina; something tells me she has issues but doesn't want to talk about it. Will would also live there. Now Carolina wouldn't be alone.

"Anne, can you take my car?" Apolo asked me. I looked at him immediately. "I have something to do first, but I'll see you at home, okay?" He kissed me on the forehead.

"Sure," I replied, taking the keys.

He smiled at me one last time and got into the car with another guy, I think his name was Dante. But Apolo has been acting strange since yesterday; I don't feel that chemistry between us anymore. I clenched my fists tightly and got into the car, waiting for Dante's car to move before following. I bit my lower lip, starting the car and driving off. I had been driving for a while until I noticed he stopped at an isolated house outside the city. I stopped too.

Being with Carolina has taught me some spying tricks; I just hope they don't catch me because they always did. I shrunk in my seat and squinted to see better; my vision isn't very good.

Apolo got out and went into the house, along with Dante. What are they doing there? Did Kayler send them to do some job or something? I took out my cell phone and dialed his number; it took a moment for him to answer.

"Anne?" he answered.

"Kayler, I have a question," I said. "Did you send Apolo to do some job?"

Silence.

"No, why?" he asked. "He was supposed to be with you all afternoon," he replied.

I closed my eyes and felt something in my chest.

"Thanks."

I hung up.

I turned the steering wheel and reversed the car; I had to be ready for when they came out. I left it in the right position and turned in my seat to keep watch.

Two taps on my window made me jump; I looked at Thomas and rolled my eyes. I rolled down the window.

"Spying? I didn't think you were like that, little Anne," he mocked.

I glared at him.

"Stop calling me that," I snapped.

I looked back at the house; Thomas was watching as Apolo and Dante emerged. Apolo looked angry and hit the car.

"What could have made your boyfriend so angry?" he asked.

I didn't answer. I don't like this; Apolo lied to Kayler and me. Something's wrong, I know it.

"Well, you don't want to talk," he muttered.

I gave him a quick glance.

"I have a lot to think about," I replied.

"I thought Apolo had already turned you," he commented.

I furrowed my brow.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Supposedly, you're his mate, right? You've been together for months; it was obvious, unless..." he stopped abruptly.

"Unless...?" I looked at him.

"Unless he's having doubts about whether you are."
