The lights of a car parking in front of the house alerted me that he had arrived. The truth is, I wasn't going to go, but then I thought better of it and, since I had nothing else to do, I decided to take a break and go have some fun tonight. Just for tonight, because after this, I won't see Thomas again. He'll bring me problems.
Oh, and Apollo? Not a message, not a call.
I opened the door just as I saw Thomas approaching through the window. His gaze shamelessly scanned me from head to toe.
I had decided on a dress—for the first time, since I always wore pants. And loose ones. It was somewhat short and, to my misfortune, tight. I had put on a jacket over it, some makeup—clumsily—and left my hair down, as always.
"Nice legs," he said, eyeing them.
For the second time that day, I felt my cheeks burn.
"Thanks?" It sounded more like a question.
He laughed.
We walked to his car, and I was surprised he had such a luxurious one. He was wearing gray jeans and a t-shirt that fit his body very well. He opened the passenger door for me.
"Miss..." he smiled with a spark of amusement while holding the door.
I half-smiled at him and got into the car. He closed my door. I put on my seatbelt while watching him walk around the car and sit in his seat.
He started the car.
"I was expecting a 'thank you' when I opened the door for you," he murmured. "But your half-smile is enough."
I gave him a quick look.
"Whatever, I just want this night to end quickly," I said to him. "I have to be back by ten."
"You want to get rid of me that quickly?" he questioned. "Relax, I don't bite... Well, not unless you want me to." He gave me a quick look.
I shook my head, completely surprised by his audacity.
"And why by ten? I thought you said three."
I looked at him quickly.
"You're crazy if you think I'm going to last until three in the morning at a bar. With a guy," I warned. "Besides, I have to be back by ten. It's in my schedule."
I shouldn't have said that last part.
"Schedule?" he questioned, though he didn't seem surprised.
We were almost at the bar.
I had a schedule for my habits and things like that. Today, for example, I wanted to study until ten and then sleep. It was always like that.
"Forget it."
A few minutes later, he parked in the lot, which, by the way, was full. I got out of the car. Thomas positioned himself next to me. The music was audible even from outside, and I couldn't imagine how loud it must be inside.
"Kara said she was coming with someone today," he commented, as if I had asked.
"Kara?"
He looked at me.
"The new girl. The one who sat at my table today. The blonde," he explained.
Of course I knew who she was. I couldn't forget how she blatantly winked at my boyfriend.
"No idea," I pretended to brush it off. "By the way, which table were you at?" I looked at him.
He smirked.
"Very funny."
We stopped in front of the huge security guard. I froze. He looked so intimidating with his frown.
He gave Thomas a look and immediately recognized him. Then he looked at me, frowning even more.
"She's with me," Thomas snapped authoritatively, and a chill ran down my spine hearing him speak like that.
We were let in immediately. The place was packed with people. Thomas gently placed his hand on my back to guide me.
"We'll look for an available table," he whispered in my ear, his breath hitting my skin.
I shivered.
We reached a table a bit away from the crowd; there were more around us, but they were occupied. It almost seemed like this one was waiting for us.
"I'll get some beers."
He didn't give me time to tell him I wanted juice; he just left. I rolled my eyes and settled into the chair, looking around. My gaze stopped on a guy a couple of tables away from ours.
Apollo.
He was drinking.
But he wasn't alone.
Kara was with him.
