His Protection

A few servants came inside the chamber, carrying dresses, boxes, and other things.

Lilith stood up from the chair and came towards them, who placed those things on the central table of the living place. "What's this?" Lilith asked one of them.

"His Majesty has sent them for Miss Lilith." Karin's voice fell into her ears, and she promptly turned to look at the door. To her wonder, she was unable to burn him down. Something was indeed wrong with her.

"I wish a very great birthday to Miss Lilith," Karin said, and he curled his lips into a smile. Lilith looked at him with a dubious gaze.

"My Lord, King Apollyon is busy with important work. He told me to send the wishes to Miss Lilith," he informed Lilith.

Karin moved forward while the servants stood with their heads bowed. He gestured to the mahogany wood boxes, which had golden patterns painted on them.

"In these boxes, Miss Lilith can find every type of jewelry she wants to wear. Be it the gold necklaces, hairpins, hair clips, and other necessary feminine accessories," Karin said and pointed his hand to the dresses.

"These are made of fine silk and prepared by skilled royal tailors. Miss Lilith is supposed to wear one of them in the evening," Karin stated and put his hand down.

She was infuriated at Apollyon's acts. How dared he send all these things to her?

Lilith went towards the table and picked up one of the gowns. She chuckled and picked the knife which was in the fruit bowl. "I don't want to wear any of these dresses," Lilith said, and she cut the gown in her hand. Karin flinched his brow and curled his fingers in anger.

This human was getting on his nerves. If Apollyon had not instructed him not to do anything to Lilith, he would have killed her by now. The servants were awestruck to see Lilith's courage. She tore the dresses sent by the King one by one and threw them to the ground.

She opened the first jewelry box and saw golden earrings inside it. She closed it and threw it towards Karin, who caught it in his arms. "Tell Apollyon to stop hiding like a coward. He has no right to wish my birthday," Lilith said. Her tone filled with hatred and disgust toward Apollyon.

"Everyone, leave!" Karin told the servants.

"Master Karin, I will make Miss Lilith understand. She has yet to understand the rules about the palace." Zoey decided to help Lilith.

"Leave!" Karin's voice roared in the room.

Zoey gulped and looked at Lilith, who stood fiercely before Karin, gazing into his eyes. "Zoey, you should go. Nothing will happen to me. Not until I will kill these two bastards," Lilith said, with a stern tone.

Zoey scrunched her brows. She was the last one to leave the room and closed the doors behind her.

"Miss Lilith, you better not create any trouble for us because it will only trouble you. You are a mere human before us. You should feel lucky to have His Majesty's protection, else it will not take me seconds to kill you," Karin threatened her and gritted his teeth.

Lilith chuckled. "His protection? You don't have enough guts to fight with me. You brought me here against my will. Apollyon may be the King of Azuria, but in my eyes, he is not. He is a mere devil, who took hundreds of lives," Lilith asserted. She was a little scared from inside at first, but not anymore.

The bridge of patience had broken. Karin stepped towards her and reached out his hand to strangulate her, but he stopped in the middle. "His Majesty will do this work. Your blood will then be distributed to all the devils," Karin said and looked at the box in his hand. He put it on the table and left the room in anger.

Lilith threw the boxes and went to the bedroom in anger.

Karin came out of the room and instructed Zoey not to give lunch meals to Lilith.

"Pardon me, Master Karin, but His Majesty may get infuriated if he finds out about it," Zoey said, keeping her eyes low.

"Do what you told to," Karin said and walked away. He wanted Apollyon to give him permission to kill Lilith. He had enough of her tantrums. He walked inside the private hall, where Apollyon was conversing with the State Councillor.

Karin stood quietly and waited for the conversation to end. Once it ended, the State Councillor bowed to them and left the hall.

"Your Majesty, allow me to kill that human," Karin requested Apollyon, who cocked his eyebrow. "I am afraid, but she is disrespectful towards the Lord of Devils. I can bear my insult but not yours. Also, she destroyed the dresses that His Majesty had prepared for her birthday. She refused to accept any of the presents," Karin briefed Apollyon, who ended up smiling.

"Let her be. She has full rights to do it," Apollyon said.

"What is wrong with His Majesty? She called us bastard, Your Majesty. She should be punished to death. I cannot stand her anymore," Karin complained to him.

"Karin, let her be rebellious. You are not the one who is supposed to get angry at her. She will be the Queen soon, so you must stand her," Apollyon stated.

"She cannot be the Queen, Your Majesty," Karin opposed Apollyon's decision. Apollyon stood up from the throne and walked to Karin. He placed his hand on his shoulder, and Karin found the slight pain.

"Karin, you have been loyal to me for a long time. I don't want to kill you for saying wrong about Lilith. This was the last time I forgave you. Next time, I won't hesitate to kill you," Apollyon sternly said. Karin downcasted his eyelids.

"I understand, Your Majesty," Karin complied with Apollyon's words, who pulled his hand back.

"You are dismissed," Apollyon told Karin, who bowed and walked out of the hall.
