Chapter 3

Emelia's POV

"Alethea made me reject my mate!!!, she successfully collected what belongs to me." I screamed, my voice hoarse with pain. "She has successfully taken my means of happiness and freedom again:" I felt like I was drowning in a sea of agony, my heart shattered into a million pieces.

"She is going to pay dearly for hurting my feelings this hard." I couldn't breathe, the pain was suffocating me. "Mom!!!!!, you lied to me!!!!!, I was never a cute girl." I sobbed, feeling like my whole world had come crashing down. "You were just lying to me so I can be happy."

I sunk to the ground, tears streaming down my face like a river. My wolf tried to comfort me, her calm and soothing voice a stark contrast to my anguish. "Calm down, Cutie," she said, nudging me affectionately. But I refused to calm down, my heart heavy with grief. The pain of rejecting my mate, Ryker, was like a blade in my chest, twisting and turning with every breath.

My wolf growled softly, her protective instincts kicking in. "You have other things to do other than sitting here like a widowed wolf." She urged me to get up, her voice laced with a cheering tone. "You have visited the hospital, so raise that ass up and get ready."

I knew she was right, but the hurt was still there, raw and festering. Taking a deep breath, I nodded, determination burning in my heart. I would not succumb to pain, I whispered the promise to my wolf. With a renewed sense of strength, I slowly stood up, my legs shaking like a leaf.

I walked slowly to my closet, my eyes blurry with tears. "I'll get through this, wolf," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "I'll survive this pain, and I'll come out stronger on the other side." My wolf nudged me again, her presence a reminder that I wasn't alone in this fight.

Few Minutes Later

I was already standing at the door of the pack's doctor. I gently placed a knock on the door and it was immediately open. Immediately I saw his face, and I burst into another fresh round of tears. "Are you okay Emelia? Don't tell me you accidentally hurt yourself again." He questioned me with a worried look and I nodded my head In silence. I didn’t want to say much as I just wanted to get treated and leave.

Few Minutes Later

“And that is all.” He said with a smile as he plastered the last scar on my knee. “Thank you.” I mouthed as I climbed down from the chair. I felt a little better. I pick up my bag from the table and I walk out of the hospital slowly.

I trudged wearily along the sidewalk, the scorching sun beating down on me like a relentless drumbeat. I had no money for a cab, so walking was my only option. At least the pack's hospital was relatively close to my house, I thought gratefully, sending a silent thank you to the moon goddess.

As I walked, my feet felt heavy, my legs like lead weights.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I saw my house in the distance. I quickened my pace, eager to get home.

I trudged through the door, exhausted and drained from the emotional rollercoaster I'd been on. All I wanted was to collapse onto my bed and forget the events of the day. But, as I entered the house, I was met with Alethea's shrill voice, piercing through the air like a dagger.

"I am not getting married to a cursed man, I will never do that," she screamed, her words echoing off the walls.

I tried to ignore her, to block out the sound of her voice, but it was no use. My ears seemed to pick up every word, every inflection, and my mind couldn't help but process the meaning behind them.

I opened the door quietly, hoping to go unnoticed, but Alethea's eyes snapped towards me like a predator sensing prey. She rushed towards me, a wide, maniacal grin spreading across her face.

"Where have you been, best sister?" she asked, her voice dripping with excitement.

I was taken aback by her sudden change in demeanor. Just hours before, she had been tormenting me, reveling in my pain and heartache. Now, she seemed... happy?

"So, sissy, do you want to get married so badly?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with a sinister intensity.

I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "I rejected my mate, the only one I can get mated to," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

Alethea's grin grew wider. "It's not Ryker, sissy. Ryker isn't worth your time. It's someone more powerful and fearful. He's the brother of the most powerful pack - the Lunar Shadow Pack."

My mind raced as I tried to process her words. She had mentioned a curse, and now she was talking about a powerful pack? Something didn't add up.

"You really want to get away from my torment, right?" she asked, her voice dripping with malice. "All you have to do is marry him, and you'll be free from me."

I knew I couldn't trust her. She was hiding something, and I wasn't about to fall into her trap. But, a small part of me, a desperate part, clung to the hope that she was telling the truth. That this mysterious Alpha could be my ticket out of this living hell.

But, as I looked into Alethea's eyes, I saw the truth there. She knew that marrying this Alpha wasn't a good thing. She knew it was a curse, a fate worse than death.

Alethea doesn't want anything good for me," I thought to myself, my mind racing with resentment. "She was supposed to be the one marrying Kaidën, but now she's pushing me into her own nightmare. That's what she does best - shifting her misfortunes to me, like a masterful manipulator."

"I'm sorry, Alethea, but I'm not interested in marrying Kaidën," I said firmly, trying to keep my voice steady.

Alethea's face contorted in rage, her eyes blazing with fury. "You must marry him, whether you want to or not!" she spat, her voice venomous. "You don't have any right to make decisions!"

Before I could react, she pushed me to the floor, her hands like vice grips on my shoulders. I scrambled to my feet, fear coursing through my veins like ice water. I dashed to my room, locking the door behind me just in time. Alethea pounded her fists on the door, cursing and screaming at me to open it.

My heart raced like a wild animal, my muscles tense with fear. I could feel Alethea's rage and anger.

I took a deep breath and reached for my phone, my hand trembling as I considered calling my dad, the beta of the Pack.

But I hesitated, knowing he was a busy person and not wanting to bother him. Instead, I decided to wait until he came home, hoping that talking to him in person would be better than trying to explain everything over the phone.

As I waited, I could feel the feel the door almost breaking down.

"Open this door, Emelia!" Alethea screamed, her voice muffled by the door. "You can't hide from me forever!"
