Chapter 4

Ryker's POV

I was lost in thought, planning the perfect date with Emelia, my mate. Her beauty had captivated me, and I couldn't wait to take our relationship to the next level. But, as I heard the knock on the door, my excitement shifted gears. I opened the door to find Alethea standing there, looking stunning in her revealing outfit. My heart raced as I felt a rush of surprise and happiness.

"Alethea! What a surprise," I said, trying to hide my enthusiasm. "What brings you here?"

She smiled seductively and said, "I heard you're mated to my sister, Emelia. I had to come and see for myself."

I felt a pang of guilt for my earlier thoughts about Emelia, but I pushed them aside. "Yes, it's true," I said, trying to sound casual. "But that doesn't mean we can't have a friendship, right?"

Alethea raised an eyebrow and said, "Friendship? Is that what you want?"

I hesitated, feeling a bit nervous. "Well, I... uh... I mean..."

She laughed and said, "Ryker, you're so cute when you're flustered. But let's get straight to the point. Do you want me or Emelia?"

My heart skipped a beat as I looked at her. I couldn't deny the attraction I felt towards her. "You, of course," I said without hesitation. "You're the one I truly desire."

Alethea's eyes sparkled with excitement as she said, "Prove it. Choose between us."

I took a deep breath and said, "I choose you, Alethea. I swear it."

She stepped closer, her body inches from mine. "Promise me you'll never touch Emelia again."

I caressed her face, my fingers tracing her jawline. "I promise. I only want you, Alethea. You're the one who sets my soul on fire."

"Alethea, from the moment I met you, I knew you were the one for me," I said, my voice filled with conviction. "Emelia means nothing to me. She's just a mate, a bond that can be broken. But you, Alethea, you're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I don't care about the bond, I don't care about anything else. I just want you."

Alethea's eyes sparkled with excitement as she heard my words. "Really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Really," I replied, my eyes locked on hers. "I'll do anything to be with you, Alethea. Anything."

She smiled, a sly smile that told me she knew the power she had over me. "I want you to break your bond with Emelia," she said, her voice firm. "I want you to choose me, fully and completely."

I hesitated for a moment, knowing that breaking my bond with Emelia would have consequences. But then I looked into Alethea's eyes. "I'll do it," I said, my voice firm. "I'll break the bond and choose you, Emelia is nothing compared to you.”

Alethea's face lit up with excitement as she heard my words.

Just then, her phone fell to the floor, and she looked flustered. I was about to say something, but she kissed me passionately and said, "I'll come to you tonight."

With that, she picked up her phone and left

Hours has passed and I still couldn't concentrate on anything, my mind consumed by the thought of Alethea's visit tonight. But then, a sharp pain seared through my body, leaving me breathless and crippled. My wolf howled in agony, the pain unbearable.

"NOOO!" I roared, my vision blurring. "Why, Emelia? Why would you reject me?"

I felt a surge of anger and frustration, my mind reeling with questions. How could she do this to me? Did she know that I had chosen Alethea?

“Even if she knew that I chose Alethea. She still doesn’t have any right to reject me.

“How can an ugly skinny Reject me!!!!, the soon to be Alpha!!!”

Just as I was about to storm out of the house to confront Emelia, my father summoned me. "Ryker, we have visitors from Moon Light Pack. I need you to accompany me to receive them."

I gritted my teeth, my reluctance evident. "Can't it wait? I have something important to attend to."

My father's expression turned stern. "This is pack business, Ryker. You will come with me."

I reluctantly followed him, my mind still seething with anger and confusion. How could Emelia reject me like this? Didn't she know that I was meant to be with Alethea?

As we walked, my father placed a hand on my shoulder. "Ryker, what's wrong? You seem troubled."

I shook my head, trying to compose myself. "It's nothing, Father. Just a minor setback."

We arrived at the meeting place, I stood beside my father, listening to the Moon Light Pack's delegation. "We're here to find our pack's bravest warrior and Alpha Kieran's brother Kaiden's mate," one of them said.

I snorted inwardly. Kaiden, the cursed man. I had heard stories about him - anyone close to him ended up dead. I wondered who was unfortunate enough to be his mate.

But my mind quickly shifted back to my date with Alethea tonight. I couldn't wait to see her, to hold her in my arms and taste her lips.

"Ryker, are you listening?" my father asked, nudging me.

I shook my head, focusing on the meeting. "Yes, Father. I'm listening."

The delegation leader continued, "We believe Kaiden's mate is here, in your pack. And we need your help to find her."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. Who could be unlucky enough to be Kaiden's mate?

But my father's expression turned stern. "We'll help you, of course. But first, let's discuss the terms of our alliance."

I tuned out the rest of the conversation, my mind drifting back to Alethea. Tonight, nothing else mattered.

I finally exhaled a sigh of relief as the meeting drew to a close. The tedious discussion had drained my energy, and I hadn't listened to half of what was said. But I was thrilled to be done with it. I retreated to my room, my mind already racing with anticipation for my evening with Alethea.

As I showered and dressed, my excitement grew. I couldn't wait to see her, to hold her in my arms, and to taste her lips. The hours ticked by at a snail's pace, but finally, I heard a knock at the door. My heart skipped a beat as I hastily made my way to open it.

Alethea stood before me, her eyes sparkling in the dim light. She looked stunning in a red dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. I felt my mouth go dry as I took in her beauty.

"Hey," she whispered, her voice husky.

I pulled her in, my hands eager to undress her. But she placed a hand on my chest, halting me.

"Wait, Ryker. I need your help with something first."

I raised an eyebrow, my desire momentarily paused. "What is it?"

Alethea's expression turned serious, her eyes clouding over. "I need your help, Ryker. I can't do this without you."
