Chapter 2A Beautiful Dragon Makes My Heart Race
Brian was suddenly startled and quickly uttered a series of rhythmic syllables, "Brian Augustus... Thor Aurelian!"
This was his True Dragon name.
Speaking one's true name at birth signified that the Newborn Dragon had inherited the Dragon Heritage and had not become a mindless dragon beast driven by instinct, thus avoiding being driven away or killed by his mother and ensuring a relatively safe growth period.
Though he looked peculiar, since Brian had spoken his true name, it meant he was indeed a True Dragon. The wariness in the White Dragon Mother's eyes gradually dissipated.
She closed her eyes and lazily fell asleep.
After uttering his true name, Brian shook his head, feeling a distinct hunger in his belly.
He turned to look at the shattered eggshell beside him and began to nibble on it.
He said, "Tastes good... Cool and somewhat like chocolate."
Dragon eggshells contained many nutrients and inorganic substances that accelerate the growth of bones and scales, serving as the first meal for a Newborn Dragon. Finding the taste pleasant, Brian munched on the chocolate-flavored eggshell, his tail swaying contentedly.
After finishing, Brian carefully sorted through his memories and sneaked a glance at the White Dragon Mother lying not far from him.
No matter how many times he looked, he was always stunned by the sight of this menacing yet beautiful beast, his own size not even as large as her head.
'The White Dragon Mother's size is considered small compared to other dragon species.' Brian thought silently.
Meanwhile, Brian caught a glimpse of his own reflection in the glossy scales of the White Dragon Mother.
Unlike her pale yellow eyes, his were a pair of brilliant platinum-gold dragon eyes, bright and captivating.
In a crowd of dragons, he would undoubtedly be the most striking one.
Dragon eyes came in various colors—black, yellow, brown, blue, purple, and countless others. However, platinum is extremely rare.
Brian's four limbs were sturdy and muscular, with white scales that, being freshly hatched, were even smoother and more reflective than those of the White Dragon Mother, shining like a mirror. His wings were large, with sail-like, resilient membranes, their span slightly longer than his body length.
His shoulder height to body length ratio was about one to six, giving him a sleek yet agile appearance.
At the same time, Brian noticed the ring of fine black scales around his neck.
He thought, "A built-in black necklace? Not bad at all."
Brian paused, not thinking much of it.
It wasn't unusual for some mutations to occur at birth. A ring of black scales was a minor anomaly.
Dragons with such mutations are documented in Dragon Heritage and are known as Aberrant Dragons.
Aberrant Dragons were generally weaker than normal dragons, but occasionally they mutated into extraordinarily powerful individuals.
Brian hoped his mutation would be one of the beneficial ones.
After seeing his own appearance, Brian looked down at his sharp, cold Dragon Claws, and silently repeated his long True Dragon name in heart.
He whispered, "From now on, I am Brian, a White Dragon named Brian!"
At this moment, Brian's feelings were mixed. On one hand, he felt a bit anxious about being in a new world; on the other hand, he was excited by the glimpse of this world's splendor through the Dragon Heritage.
'Dragons, undead, giants, elves, spellcasters, elements, demons, the Abyss, gods...'
Brian took a deep breath, closing his eyes slightly, and he then opened them slowly, feeling much calmer.
To be reincarnated as a dragon was indeed a stroke of great fortune compared to a lowly slime or goblin.
Some faint cracking sounds caught Brian's attention. He turned his head and saw that the sound was coming from a complete dragon egg beside him.
He saw the dragon egg which was about the size of a millstone, trembling slightly with cracks appearing and spreading.
The Newborn Dragon inside was struggling hard, and after a few seconds, it finally broke free from the shell.
Unlike Brian, who had been dazed for a long time, this newly hatched Newborn Dragon let out a childish cry as soon as it encountered the outside world and then spoke its True Dragon name.
"Hill Ross Vanessa... Rebecca."
Hill's voice was tender and light, giving Brian a sense of a childlish tone.
Hill was only half Brian's size.
Her physique was not as robust or muscular as his; she was more graceful, with smooth lines. Her scales seemed softer and more delicate, and her dragon tail was long and perfectly proportioned from root to tip.
She was a very beautiful little female dragon.
Moreover, according to the Dragon Heritage, dragons had no reproductive isolation from other species or among themselves, and there was no prohibition against close relatives becoming mates.
When this thought surfaced, Brian's heart tightened, startling him.
