Chapter 3 Capturing the Fugitive

The prenup agreement almost smacked Walter in the face!

Walter, furious and embarrassed, was about to lose it. "Prenup agreement?"

After a few curses, he glanced at the paper. It really was a prenup, and he was stunned.

"Prenup? What prenup?" he asked.

The young man, his fists clenched, stepped forward. Seeing the words on the prenup, he was shocked.

"For richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.

Groom: Fergus Yost.

Bride: Sophia Johnson."

Hayden stepped forward, astonished. "So, my dad was right?"

Hayden remembered his dad mentioning an arranged marriage for Sophia before he passed away. However, Hayden hadn't taken it seriously. Arranging a marriage when Sophia was a kid seemed outdated. Even if he remembered, the other party might have forgotten.

The crowd murmured, wondering if Sophia had been waiting for him all along.

Fergus took the prenup back and said calmly, "Tell me again, when did you start divining? Be specific."

Walter's eyes were bloodshot, and his face turned red with anger. If having a prenup didn't count as fate, then what did?

"It's fake, Uncle Johnson! This prenup is fake!" The young man gritted his teeth, glaring at Fergus. "He's a fraud. Throw him out!"

"The prenup is real."

Hayden shook his head, gave Fergus a serious look, and said slowly, "With a prenup, the Johnson family will acknowledge it. But things have changed, and it depends on Sophia's opinion. You should do a blood test; we'll discuss the marriage when Sophia wakes up."

Although Walter was wrong, there were exceptions. This marriage was arranged decades ago, so it was understandable he might make a wrong guess in a hurry.

"No need for a blood test; it's useless. Forget about the marriage. I'm here to call it off. Keep the prenup; I'm leaving."

Fergus left gracefully. As he walked out the door, he added, "The antidote method is your compensation for calling off the engagement. Remember it!"

The room was in an uproar. He didn't even want to be the son-in-law of the richest man in Tarynville. How arrogant!

Hayden's face turned red with anger. His daughter had been rejected; it was a great humiliation!

After everyone had done the blood test, they turned and walked upstairs.

Walter and the young man followed behind.

On the second floor.

On the bed lay a girl with smooth skin and long, flowing hair. Her features were delicate; she was Sophia, the daughter of the richest man.

Moreover, she was known as the most beautiful woman in Tarynville!

Walter stood in front of the bowl of blood, chanting incantations for five minutes, but Sophia showed no signs of waking up.

"Walter, Sophia..." The beautiful woman sitting by the bed asked, choking up.

She was Sophia's mother, Linda Johnson.

Walter shook his head and sighed, "Still no fated person. We need to keep looking."

Linda's eyes filled with tears. "You said Sophia's destined person was in Tarynville, but all the single young men in Tarynville have come. Who else could it be?"

Walter frowned, raised his hand, and calculated. "It's definitely in Tarynville."

As he calculated, he suddenly looked at the young man beside him. "Mr. Shaw, have you not done the blood test yet? Why don't you give it a try!"

The young man, Tyler Shaw, the heir to the newly wealthy Shaw family in Tarynville.

"I..." Tyler hesitated. "I've known Sophia since we were kids and always thought of her as a sister. I've never... Well, I'll give it a try!"

He bit his finger and let the blood drip into the bowl.

As soon as the blood hit the bowl, Sophia, on the bed, coughed. Linda and Hayden's eyes lit up with joy. A cough meant she was about to wake up.

Tyler's eyes also showed a hint of hope.

But after over ten seconds, Sophia's breathing steadied, and she fell back asleep!

Walter looked puzzled. "Mr. Shaw should be the fated person. Maybe it wasn't enough. Continue!"

Tyler didn't hesitate. He bit another finger, and Sophia coughed again but still fell back asleep.

"More blood!" Walter urged.

Tyler's face turned pale with pain, but he kept going. However, this time, not only did it have no effect, but Sophia also fell into an even deeper sleep.

Linda anxiously said, "How could this be? She's sleeping even more deeply. Maybe it wasn't enough. Use a knife!"

Tyler shivered in fear and looked to Walter for help.

Walter was sweating. This shouldn't be happening!

Hayden's eyes brightened as he remembered Fergus's words. The current situation matched Fergus's description. He immediately ordered, "Quick, get some spring snake skin..."

Although these ingredients were rare, they weren't a problem for Hayden.

Soon, a bowl of soup was brought up.

Hayden personally fed Sophia. After just two sips, Sophia slowly opened her eyes.

"Well..." Tyler was dumbfounded as if he had seen a ghost.

Hayden was overjoyed and immediately said, "Quick, bring Fergus back!"

"Violet Gray, Capital City."

After leaving Westside Manor, Fergus had already picked his next target for calling off an engagement. He didn't want to waste time because his Master could return at any moment, and he still had to go back to Shadowgate Penitentiary to wait for him.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast predicted a heavy storm, and the flight was canceled. He could only fly out tomorrow.

Fergus decided to find a place to eat.

"Why do I keep running into her everywhere?"

Fergus passed by a private room with the door slightly ajar. Through the gap, he saw Jessica inside.

But since she was in the private room, Fergus didn't pay much attention and sat in the main hall.

Inside the private room.

Jessica raised her glass and smiled, "Mr. White, here is a toast to you. I hope you can consider the Henderson Group for this raw material supply. The Henderson Group will provide the best quality."

Mr. White, sitting at the head of the table, responded perfunctorily, "We'll see."

Jessica's face turned awkward. She had recently taken over the Henderson family and urgently needed to prove herself. She had to secure Mr. White.

She tentatively asked, "Mr. White, is there anything difficult? If I can help, I won't hesitate."

"You?"

Mr. White glanced at her disdainfully. "Alright, this afternoon, Ms. Gray from the Gray family is coming to Tarynville. If you can arrange for me to meet her, not only will I agree to this raw material supply, but you will be our lasting business partner!"

Jessica was stunned. There had been rumors that the Gray family was coming to Tarynville to invest. Could they already be here?

Others sighed. "Ms. Gray had the airport locked down before she even got off the plane. That kind of power is just out of our league."

"Yeah, only the Gray family could be such powerful and influencial."

"I heard Ms. Gray is stunningly gorgeous..."

Hearing their discussions, Jessica smiled and said, "Mr. White, everyone, you're mistaken. The airport was locked down this afternoon not because of Ms. Gray's arrival."

"But because they were capturing a fugitive!" Jessica added.
