Chapter 3 Her Grandfather Sent a Plane to Pick Her Up

Clara was freaking out, worried Catherine wouldn't bounce back, so she said, "Celeste, let's hit the mall later to chill. I heard Quinn's got a new fall line, and if we don't hurry, we'll miss out."

Quinn's stuff was always hell expensive.

Clara thought about how Catherine would be cut off from all these high-society perks, maybe even waking up early to feed chickens and staying up late to grind feed. That thought made her super happy.

She smirked, her eyes landing on the dude at the door, and she let out a dramatic gasp. "Oh, is that Catherine's dad? What's he doing at the door?"

Everyone turned to look.

There stood a plain, honest-looking middle-aged guy, wearing a dusty suit and muddy shoes.

This guy must've come straight from the chicken farm in Tranquil County, probably even had chicken poop on him. The Smith family all looked disgusted and took a step back.

'How shabby!' Clara thought as she lifted her chin, all smug. "Catherine, you're in for a rough ride! Too bad, I was hoping you'd come to my wedding with Lucas."

Catherine gave her a light glance, with a hint of pity in her eyes. "A physical illness can be cured, but a mental one can't."

'With Lucas's behavior, having visited the infectious disease department six times in two months, Clara's not gonna have it easy marrying him.' Catherine thought.

"What do you mean by that?" Clara said.

The maid saw Catherine about to leave with a sense of superiority, quietly approaching with a basin of water that smelled funky. "Catherine's mouth is so dirty, she should wash it before she leaves."

The basin of water was about to be dumped on Catherine, but before Clara could celebrate, Catherine moved fast, grabbed the maid's hand with a bit of force, and the whole basin of water ended up on Oliver's family of three!

Oliver stood there, totally shocked!

Clara was soaked and momentarily forgot to react!

Catherine clapped her hands clean and took a step back. "You all really need to wash your mouths. Don't mention it."

Celeste screamed, "Catherine, are you nuts? Get out of here! From now on, we have nothing to do with you!" 'Such a daughter is truly uneducated, twisted by the thought of living a hard life!' Celeste thought.

Catherine's eyes were full of mockery, and she said, "You never treated me as family, so isn't it funny to say that?"

Last month, before the family had a full medical check-up, Celeste bought Clara a house in Serenitia City. At that time, she didn't consider her so-called "biological daughter" Catherine.

Celeste knew there was more meaning to Catherine's words, feeling either guilty or angry, and shouted, "Just leave already. I'm still waiting to take Clara to buy fall clothes. You ungrateful, rude girl."

After saying that, she pulled Oliver and Clara into the house, immediately slamming the door.

The middle-aged man standing outside the garden looked at the closed door, feeling something off, and thought.

'Oliver demanded that only branded cars could enter the Smith family grounds. Seeing that my car has no logo, the security guard arrogantly demanded I walk to the villa entrance to pick someone up! The Smith family might have some status in Serenitia City, but their behavior is far from friendly, full of pettiness.' He shook his head, eagerly watching Catherine walk up, just wanting to take her away from the Smith Mansion as soon as possible, and said, "Miss, my car is parked outside. Oliver said only luxury cars are allowed in, so please walk with me for a bit."

Catherine nodded and hopped into the car with the middle-aged dude, buckling up her seatbelt.

"Even though you got a sister, you're still the only daughter of the Windsor family. Your grandpa, Mr. Marcus Windsor, said your opinion is the one that counts in our family, no one else's! I'm Dylan, the driver. Everyone's stoked for you to come home!" Dylan tried to get on Catherine's good side, speaking earnestly with a simple smile.

Worried Catherine might be upset, he explained everything in detail.

Catherine raised an eyebrow. 'The family even has a dedicated driver? This family seems way different from how Oliver described it.'

Nodding to Dylan, Catherine said calmly, "Thanks for picking me up. Let's roll."

Dylan was a bit taken aback, then a bit dazed. 'First time chatting with Catherine, and it feels so chill. She really is Windsor material!'

Dylan grinned at Catherine and said, "Miss, hold on tight! We're in a rush, so we have to speed up a bit."

"Okay."

The next second, Dylan hit a button in the car.

The plain black sedan quickly transformed, with a propeller popping out from the sunroof, turning into a helicopter!

As the feeling of weightlessness hit, Dylan skillfully piloted the helicopter into the sky, disappearing fast!

Catherine was puzzled.

Dylan chuckled, "Did I freak you out? Mr. Windsor gets carsick, so they set up this small helicopter for him. It's a bit cramped, hope you don't mind!"

'Carsick, so they got a helicopter.' Catherine was stunned.

"I remember, the amphibious tech for helicopters and cars was only successfully tested last month," Catherine said.

Seeing Catherine so knowledgeable, Dylan got excited.

"Yeah, it was set up just last month! I was in the Air Force before I was discharged, so I came to be Marcus's driver."

Catherine thought, 'I know this tech because my thesis data was sent out last month, and the correct experimental results came from that data. Didn't expect a finished product so soon. Even more surprising to see it with my own family. The Windsor family is definitely not ordinary.'

Catherine looked at the clouds outside the window, the clear blue sky unblemished, and the Smith Mansion quickly disappeared from her sight.

Throughout the journey, Catherine didn't talk much. Besides checking her phone for a bit, she was doodling on a piece of paper.

Dylan, glancing over a few times, noticed she was holding a blank piece of paper, and the pen in her hand seemed to be out of ink.

Dylan frowned repeatedly. 'The Smith family didn't even give Catherine a working pen. How broke are they!'

Dylan slapped his forehead, pulling out a document from his pocket.

Without the chance to enter the door earlier, he forgot to give the Smith family the gift from the Windsor family. This document was a contract worth billions of dollars, along with networking resources!

"Miss, your parents prepped a small gift for the Smith family, but earlier... Do you want to give it to them again?" Dylan asked.

"No need. I've already given them a gift. From now on, I have nothing to do with the Smith family."

'I'm telling the truth. No matter how good the gift is, it would be wasted on the Smith family. The gift I gave is valuable enough, just a few pieces of paper!' she thought.

Dylan was stunned, then nodded. 'Catherine, seeming so well-mannered, could say such things, indicating that the Smith family hasn't treated her well!'
