Chapter 7 Collision in the Bathroom

Clara realized that Alexander was extremely disgusted with her.

Her heart felt like it was being pierced by a thousand needles, both painful and humiliating.

Yet, she was also afraid of Alexander.

Just as Clara was about to feign some coquettishness, Alexander hung up.

Clara's heart skipped a beat with worry.

"What’s wrong, Clara?" Lila quickly asked.

Clara said anxiously, "Mom, Alexander refused to come to discuss our marriage. Could he have found out something?"

Clara cried in fear, "Could he have discovered that I'm impersonating Elizabeth? Mom, what should I do? Alexander kills people so casually, I'm scared."

Lila and Oliver were also terrified and at a loss.

The whole afternoon, the family spent it in fear until a servant came in to report, "Mr. Guise, Mrs. Guise. Elizabeth is here. She said she came to get the photos of her and her mother."

"Tell her to get lost!" Clara immediately vented her anger on Elizabeth.

At that moment, she was so consumed by fear that she completely forgot she had told Elizabeth yesterday to come and get her mother's old photos.

In fact, Clara wanted to show off her intimacy with Alexander in front of Elizabeth to make her feel miserable!

But she never expected that Alexander would refuse to come.

The servant remained silent.

"Wait! I'll talk to her!" Clara said as she got up and walked out.

All afternoon, Clara had cried until her eyes were swollen, and her hair was a mess. She forgot to look in the mirror before rushing out.

"Elizabeth! You filthy whore, coming to my house and dirtying it again. My house doesn't welcome you! Get out now!" Clara shouted viciously.

Elizabeth sneered, "Clara, you told me to come and get my mom's photos!"

"Get out! Get out! Go die! Get out now!" Clara screamed irrationally.

Elizabeth laughed in anger.

She looked Clara up and down.

Suddenly, she realized Clara was venting her frustration.

With an innocent expression, Elizabeth asked slowly, "Clara, your eyes are swollen from crying, and your hair looks like a bird's nest. Did you get pregnant by some man and then get abandoned?"

Clara, enraged, lunged at Elizabeth. She cursed aggressively, "I'll kill you!"

Elizabeth didn't even look at Clara, calmly saying, "If you dare to kill me in front of your house, do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?"

Clara yelled, "You... you! Go die! Get out! Get out now."

Elizabeth sneered and turned to leave.

She didn't have time to argue with Clara.

She was hungry and needed to get herself some food.

Ever since she got pregnant, she had been getting hungry easily and wanted to eat something nutritious, but she had no money.

She could only go back to her place and buy a few pieces of bread from a small shop.

As Elizabeth was eating with relish, she saw someone standing ahead.

It was Alexander's assistant, Gavin.

Elizabeth paused for a second, then continued eating her bread and walked past Gavin without saying a word.

She and Alexander were just in a transaction. Besides acting in front of Esme, they had no other connection.

Elizabeth never took the initiative to make friends with anyone.

"Miss Spencer," Gavin called from behind, surprised that Elizabeth didn't greet him.

Elizabeth turned around and looked at Gavin. She asked innocently, "Are you calling me?"

"Get in the car," Gavin said curtly.

Elizabeth was puzzled.

Gavin tried to explain, "Mrs. Esme Windsor will call home today. If she finds out you and Mr. Windsor aren't living together..."

Elizabeth replied, "I understand." The act had to be complete. Elizabeth got into the car.

They didn't go to The Windsor Manor but to a high-end apartment complex in the city center. Gavin took Elizabeth downstairs and handed her over to a maid in her forties before leaving.

"Are you Mrs. Windsor?" the maid asked as she smiled at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth felt awkward with the new living arrangement, and asked, "And who are you?"

The maid introduced herself, "I've been serving Mrs. Esme Windsor for over ten years. My name is Zoey Morris. Mrs. Esme Windsor specifically called and instructed me to take good care of you. Come on up."

It was a luxurious duplex apartment, the kind that an average family could never afford.

Elizabeth asked Zoey, "Where is this?"

"It's Mr. Windsor's former residence," Zoey replied.

Elizabeth understood. Gavin had brought her here, so Alexander probably wouldn't be staying there.

Perfect, she didn't have to worry about not having a place to stay.

She planned to bring her simple belongings from the rented place tomorrow.

Just as Elizabeth sat down on the sofa, the landline in the living room rang. Zoey answered it and then smiled, saying, "Mrs. Esme Windsor, yes, Mrs. Windsor is sitting on the sofa."

Zoey handed the phone to Elizabeth. She informed, "It's Mrs. Esme Windsor."

Elizabeth took the phone and said, "Mom, how are you?"

Esme asked gently, "Elizabeth, tell me. Are you comfortable living there?"

Elizabeth replied, "Yeah. I've never lived in such a nice place."

"And Alexander, is he with you?" Esme asked again.

Elizabeth knew that if she was here, Alexander definitely wouldn't come by, but she still replied to Esme, "Alexander will be home soon. I'm waiting for him to have dinner together."

Esme remarked, "Alright, I won't disturb your time together. I'll hang up now."

Elizabeth replied sweetly, "Goodbye, Mom."

That evening, Elizabeth not only had a sumptuous and delicious dinner, but after dinner, Zoey also personally prepared a bath for her.

Zoey informed her, "Mrs. Windsor, this is an essential oil, this is a bath milk, and these are rose petals. Using these for your bath will make your skin better and better."

Zoey added, "I've prepared the bathrobe for you and placed it outside the bathroom. You can grab it when you come out. I'll prepare your bed now."

Zoey was a very considerate maid.

Elizabeth felt a bit overwhelmed by the attention.

The spacious bathroom, the large multifunctional bathtub, and the fragrant essential oils and rose petals were very appealing to Elizabeth.

The place she rented only had a bed, and she had to use a public bathroom for showers.

Since getting out of prison, Elizabeth had never relaxed in a bathtub.

She wasn't going to waste such a good opportunity today.

She didn't know how long she soaked, but Elizabeth felt extremely comfortable, and sleepiness soon overcame her.

Drowsy, she climbed out of the bathtub, her body still wet, and reached for the bathrobe as she opened the door, only to bump into a tall, solid figure.

Elizabeth screamed in fright.
