15- Happiness

— I need this moment to find clarity, to decipher my own thoughts and emotions. —

At the police station, Everth, with the weight of uncertainty on his shoulders, tried to answer each question as accurately as possible, aware of the urgency of clarifying his situation.

The interrogation seemed endless for Everth. Each question, each scrutinizing look, increased his anxiety. Despite providing details and evidence that supported his alibi, the feeling of being suspicious persisted in the air.

— I am sure of my whereabouts that night. I understand your work, but I need you to understand that I have no connection to those horrible events. — Everth says,

refuting.

The police officers exchanged glances, meticulously evaluating each word of Everth.

Alessandro, with a more understanding expression, tried to ease the tension in the room.

— We understand, Everth. We are only looking to clarify the facts. Something made us

link certain elements with you, but we appreciate your cooperation. — Says

Alessandro.

— Also, if you remember correctly Everth, you were in jail for drunk driving and I

am a witness to that because you were the one who gave me this scar. — Says Cris

sarcastically.

— I understand officer, it was a mistake, I had a bad time with my wife, but that

doesn't mean she's a bad person. — Everth comments in an embarrassed manner.

— Well, well we're not here for those matters, we just want to get to the bottom of

this, it's better that Everth cooperates with us, otherwise he'll have to be

detained again. — Says Alessandro seriously.

As she let herself be carried away by the rhythm of the sea, Jade breathed deeply, allowing

the salty breeze to caress her face. Each wave that retreated on the shore carried with it a weight from her shoulders, an emotional burden that for a moment seemed to fade away.

Inspired by the constant coming and going of the waves, her thoughts flowed in a stream of

reflection.

Jade sat on the sand, watching the distant horizon, where the sky merged with the

sea in an infinite embrace. Her barely audible whispers mixed with the sound of the

sea, expressing her deepest longings, even if they were only words to herself.

— I need a new life, one where there are no shadows of the past darkening

every step I take. I want to feel free, without the burden of regrets and

mistakes.

I want to find a path where I can be who I am, without fears or

remorse, where every sunrise brings the promise of a new beginning.

I can't stay trapped in this whirlpool of anguish, I need a rebirth, a

space where I can blossom in peace and serenity, where I can even find a

new love, something more authentic, wilder, more real... — She screams those words

internally.

With each word, her desire for a transformation became more palpable. She

longed for a radical change, one that would not only alter her environment, but also her

inner self, freeing her from the emotional chains that had bound her for so long. The beach, with its symphony

of waves and the vast horizon, became the stage for her most intimate thoughts,

where she sketched out the vision of a renewed life, one she longed for with all her being.

Jade (whispering to herself):

— I need to understand what I really want, what I need. All of this

is wearing me down. —

Back at the police station, the tension remained palpable. Everth, with less and less certainty about the outcome of the situation, struggled to maintain his composure.

— Is there anything else I can help with? I am willing to collaborate in whatever is necessary to clarify this, but I have been here for more than two hours on the same story. —

The police, acknowledging Everth's cooperation, nevertheless, the versions they gave of the matter did not correspond with what they had found at the crime scene, so they decided to leave him because just having his fingerprints at the scene of that crime was already solid enough evidence to have him behind bars.

— Mr. Everth, you are under arrest at this moment, because the fingerprints that are at the crime match yours, in addition, all the arguments that you told us in those hours can be used for or against in court, as protocol you will be given a lawyer if you do not have one. —Alessandro says, staring at his face. — But this is unfair, I have not done any of that, I would be incapable of getting involved in

those things…— Everth shouts in a choked manner.

— Everth, in addition to that you have the right to remain silent, you can say everything you

want later, for now we only hope that you cooperate with us and that way your sentence will be easier. — Cris adds seriously.

At that precise moment, Everth is stunned by the news, because he knows that in a certain way

he is guilty but not in the way that they believe, on the other hand, he worries about Jade because

he knows that she is

They are going through a difficult time in their relationship and this makes things worse.

Jade, her mind filled with turbulent thoughts, paused for a moment on the beach

before making the final decision. She looked at the horizon, feeling the sand beneath her feet,

and considered the possibility of moving forward, of leaving before the weight of the past dragged her

down even further. She closed her eyes, letting herself be enveloped by the sea breeze, and reflected

on the idea of a new life in a place where she could start over.

The beach, which had witnessed her whispers and longings, now became the

stage where she made a momentous choice. The destiny of Puerto Viejo de

Talamanca called to her spirit, offering her the promise of a different existence, far

from the shadows that darkened her past.

With that decision made, Jade headed toward her new life. Puerto Viejo, with its

tropical charm and welcoming atmosphere, awaited her like a blank canvas where she

could paint her renewed dreams and hopes. As her footprints faded on the shore, the beach remained the silent witness of a chapter that was closing and another that was

opening. Jade, determined to make a radical change in her life, got up from the beach with a renewed

determination. The sand slipped through her fingers as she walked away from the emotional turmoil

she had left behind. Without saying a word, she headed toward the horizon, toward a new

stage that she herself was tracing.
