32- Everything is fine

When Everth got out of jail the first thing he did was call Jade.

After dialing Jade’s number and waiting anxiously, Everth was met with an

eerie silence on the other end of the line. Each ringtone resonated like an echo of

uncertainty. Jade didn’t answer, and worry began to nestle in Everth’s heart.

“Jade, are you there?” Everth asked, waiting for an answer that didn’t come.

Everth’s mind began to weave tales of worry and doubt. Was there something wrong?

Had he misinterpreted the connection they shared? The newfound freedom seemed to

lose its luster in the face of Jade’s lack of response.

In an impulsive act, Everth decided to send a message to Jade, expressing his

concern and desire to make sure everything was okay. Every minute that passed without news from her felt like an eternity, and the shadows of the past seemed to lurk in the corners of his mind.

“Jade, I’m worried. Is everything okay? I need to know you’re okay. Please, reply to me when you can,” Everth wrote, his words reflecting the anxiety that was taking hold of him.

As he waited for a reply, time seemed to stand still. Every second without news from Jade increased Everth’s uneasiness. Uncertainty loomed over him like a shadow, overshadowing the newfound joy of his release.

Everth, his heart pounding, decided to head to a nearby cafe to give Jade time to respond. As he waited, the aroma of coffee filled his senses, but his mind was completely focused on the possibility of regaining his connection with Jade.

He sat at a table, phone in hand, staring at the screen, waiting for a notification of a message or call from Jade to break the tense silence. Every minute without a reply felt like an eternity, and anxiety grew with each passing second.

“What’s going on? Why isn’t she answering?” Everth wondered, feeling the joy of freedom being overshadowed by the uncertainty of his connection to Jade.

Finally, after what seemed like an endless wait, a notification arrived on Everth’s phone. A flash of hope lit up his eyes as he unlocked the device. However, disappointment took over as he realized it was just a message from a friend congratulating him on his release.

“Where are you, Jade? I need to know you’re okay,” he muttered to himself, as he dialed her number again.

The call went straight to voicemail, and frustration took hold of Everth. He

wondered what could be going on in Jade's life for her not to answer. Was she

busy? Was there something wrong? The unanswered questions began to create a storm

of worries in his mind.

He decided to send another message, this time expressing his concern

and the importance of hearing Jade's voice for him.

"Jade, I'm starting to get really worried. I need to know that you're

okay. Please tell me something," he wrote, his words reflecting the vulnerability of his

emotions at that moment.

As he waited for a response, a feeling of helplessness invaded him.

Despite having regained his freedom, the uncertainty in his relationship with Jade threatened

to become an emotional chain that still kept him bound.

So Everth decided to go to her apartment, because there he was

sure to be there, however, upon arriving he was faced with the harsh reality. Everth, perplexed and confused, found himself faced with the disconcerting reality that Jade

did not live there. He looked at the old woman who had kindly opened the door, searching

for some logical explanation for what he was experiencing.

“Excuse me, isn’t this Jade’s apartment?” Everth asked with a mix of

hope and confusion in his voice.

The old woman smiled gently, showing understanding for Everth’s confusion.

“No, son. There is no one named Jade here. I live alone and have been in this apartment

for many years,” the old woman explained calmly.

Everth felt as if the ground was slipping away from beneath his feet. The reality he thought he

knew was crumbling in front of him, and uncertainty filled his mind. He apologized to the old woman and stepped back from the doorway, trying to come to terms with the situation.

“Where is Jade? Was it all an illusion?” Everth wondered, feeling a knot in his

stomach. He decided to check his phone to make sure he hadn't made any mistakes in the address or the number. However, every detail matched what he remembered. Jade, at that moment, was becoming more of an enigma than a certainty in his life.

He tried to call again, but there was no answer. Frustration and worry grew in him. He decided to send one more message, this time expressing his bewilderment and the urgent need to know what was happening.

— Jade, I'm at your apartment and they're telling me you don't live here. Where are you? Are you okay?

Please answer me. I need to know what's going on. —he wrote, his words reflecting

the anxiety overwhelming him.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the city, Jade was facing her own dilemmas and challenges,

oblivious to the turmoil she had left in Everth's life.

Meanwhile Jade…

Jade, phone vibrating in the palm of her hand, watched Everth's name

light up on the screen. Surprise and confusion took over her thoughts.

How was it possible that he called her? Wasn't he still in prison?

Reality seemed to be shaking around her, and doubts piled up in her mind.

She decided not to answer, letting the call fade into silence. The room fell into a stillness interrupted only by the distant sound of the ocean waves. Jade sat on the edge of the bed, holding the phone as if it were an unknown artifact. The possibility that Everth had gotten out of prison stunned her, but it also raised deeper questions about her own situation. Why was he looking for her? What did it all mean? Her mind wandered into a mix of emotions. On one hand, intrigue and curiosity drove her to want to understand the situation. On the other, fear and uncertainty held her back. She felt as if she were in the center of a storm, not knowing where to turn. With the phone still in her hand, Jade looked out the open window that revealed a serene blue sky. The sea breeze carried with it the whisper of the waves, as if nature itself was trying to calm her inner turbulence. However, peace was slipping through her fingers as she tried to decipher the enigma unfolding around her.

The sound of seagulls echoed in the distance, reminding her of the beauty of the environment around her. But at that moment, the serenity of the landscape contrasted with the storm of emotions Jade was experiencing inside.

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to find clarity amidst the confusion. However, the nagging question kept echoing in her mind: What was going on and what role was Everth playing in this unexpected turn of events?

Jade, phone vibrating in the palm of her hand, watched Everth's name light up on the screen. Shock and confusion took over her thoughts.

How was it possible that he called her? Wasn't he still in prison?

In her internal dialogue, Jade debated whether to answer and face the whirlwind of emotions that would be unleashed or ignore the call and protect herself from what it might unleash. "No, I'm not going to answer. I don't want my past to torment me," she murmured to herself. However, as she spoke those words, all the memories she had shared with Everth flooded into her mind like an uncontrollable wave. The shared laughter, the knowing glances, and the moments of tenderness intertwined with the uncertainty of the present. Jade found herself immersed in a sea of nostalgia and longing, fighting against the tide of feelings that threatened to overwhelm her. The call persisted, insistent, like an echo of a time she thought she had left behind. Jade got out of bed, feeling the sea breeze coming through the open window. The decision to answer or not became a dilemma that resonated with the complexity of her own story. "I don't want my past to define me," Jade kept telling herself, but the reality of facing that call was like a mirror reflecting her own vulnerability. She was at a crossroads between the need to close chapters and the fear of reliving those moments she thought she had left behind. The constant ringing of the phone reminded Jade that each vibration was a choice. Would she accept the connection to a past that seemed intent on finding her, or would she firmly close the door to protect herself from the waves of uncertainty that were coming? As for Everth...

Everth, frustrated by Jade's lack of response, decided to seek support from his loyal friend Ivan. He quickly dialed the number and waited anxiously for him to answer. After a few rings, Ivan's voice rang out on the other end of the line.

"Ivan, I need to talk to you!" Everth exclaimed, the urgency palpable in his tone.
