Chapter 5 Zoe Saldana
If Daniel's awakening and rebellion at the gathering marked a complete shift from my life, then Zoe Saldana was his guide. I saw how this beautiful girl came into Daniel's life. During that time, Daniel was surrounded by the glow of first love, and you could see it in everything he did.
Every run, throw, or jump, even a drop of sweat on his forehead, made my heart race.
Jealousy grew in my fragile heart. I hated that girl I had only met once.
I pieced together Zoe's face from scattered memories.
Her light blue eyes had a mysterious vibe. Her brows and eyes were always lowered, and when she looked at someone, her eyelashes fluttered. Her gaze was tender, unlike my sharp one, making her endearing.
She had a well-proportioned figure, not too plump or skinny. She gave off a sunny, healthy vibe, which was rare.
Her style was simple but unique. Her dress and accessories weren't flashy, but she had a fresh aura that no man could ignore.
I shouldn't have obsessed over Zoe. With entrance exams coming up, I had enough on my plate without wasting thoughts on a love that never bloomed.
But my friend, Lillian Roberts, kept gathering info about Zoe. She whispered, "Zoe's pure and lovely, but you're not bad either!"
I stayed silent, burying myself in my studies to block out distractions.
Lillian kept talking, "Jane, you and Zoe are different. She needs constant attention, like a dandelion in the wind. You, on the other hand, are independent. You'd never rely on a man because you have too much pride."
I couldn't tell if Lillian was praising or mocking me.
Maybe my independence and neutral style caused issues with Daniel. To him, I didn't come off as a real woman. Men tended to go for girls who seemed fragile and needed their help.
"Jane! I have another rumor about Zoe. Want to hear?"
"Isn't it about her ex cheating? Everyone knows that," I scoffed at Lillian's fake mysterious tone.
Zoe had plenty of admirers, but her last relationship ended badly. Her ex cheated, leading to a big argument on the school playground, which everyone gossiped about.
Daniel's first encounter with Zoe also started with that argument.
